  1. Let's hope common sense prevails and this nonsense is resolved . Our sport would be much the poorer without the Aussies
  2. he had one or two other problems , if it's the same one you're hinting at
  3. How can speedway possibly have a problem with this visa thing with all the know alls on here
  4. According to The Sun this morning John Campbell says the visa thing isn't an issue for Masters and Sedgmen . Everything is cleared . Mind you that is The Sun and not Kinvig in the Smugburgh Evening News
  5. This is such a shame that the visa thing has now escalated to this . Whatever your point of view on the subject , there's no doubt speedway will be all the poorer if this is about the end of the Aussies in speedway over here . They have graced our leagues since league speedway began and it's another nail in the coffin for the sport we all love .
  6. From what i saw of Lewis Blackbird , before his injury , last year . If there's no ill effects he could improve a lot on 6.30 .
  7. Suppose you make a fair argument , but i'm a die hard and the Spring Trophy zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  8. you think , we get sick of the sight of Edinburgh , as they do us
  9. I know , you would have thought they would have went all out to get a really big opening meeting against an EL club . But alas no , the Big Spring in a daud of plywood against the Smugs
  10. Let's get over it , Wolbert has gone . I'm hoping this year Dimitri Berge can stay injury free and put a couple of points on his average . The potential we saw last year certainly suggests that is possible
  11. All quiet on the Glasgow front , suppose i could read the Berwick thread , but life's too short
  12. I think the nosey value of the opening meeting will ensure a huge crowd . Be nice if the opening day was against someone interesting , but it will probably be " you know who " . The Smug Family Wolbert Feel for the lad if this turns out to be the case . But from our point of view , if we cant have Aaron then Theo or Rusty would do a similar job
  13. I've never been there yet , do you have to book in advance or can you just turn up ?
  14. Edinburgh transferred their licence to Wembley in 1970 . Was near the end of the seventies before the Monarchs were operating again .
  15. He could score double figures one meeting and zero the next . You just never knew what you were going to get
  16. Hospitality , cafeteria and new hall of fame were all mentioned , but worryingly the word " bar" never actually appeared in the article anywhere I expect a huge opening day crowd too . Whether 2000 is achieved remains to be seen , but it's definitely doable . There will be loads turning up , who havent been for years , just to see the difference in the place . Then getting the product right on and off the track is vital to keep them coming back . Glasgow has a population of around eight hundred thousand , so is two thousand at the speedway on a Sunday afternoon pie in the sky ? I think not . And sorry if you were offended Blobby , but in any sport , the most important fixtures to the majority of fans are the local derbies .
  17. Just read the Speedway Star article , and i'm even more enthusiastic about the coming season than i was before . Loved the bit Gerry Facenna said about Nick Morris . He went over to Smugville for the play off final and all the Smugs were booing and jeering Nick - they hate him there . " He's the guy we need in our team " says Gerry . You gotta love that reasoning
  18. A wee beer ???????? This aint Edinburgh
  19. Not so easy . Central station used to sell them , but i dont think they do now . I get mine from my local newsagent who orders it for me , if you cant get a copy , i'll send you mine once i've read it
  20. If i had that kind of money to throw around , do you think i'd be investing in speedway haha ?
