  1. Scotsman has it spot on , a lot of British riders just don't want to have the weekly travel north of the border .
  2. I'm just as good at football coupons oh and hands up all those who predicted the remarkable improvement in Steve Worrall .........................................thought not . His improvement laid the groundwork for the Monarch's success this season .
  3. Arena Essex 1991 , by far the best 2nd tier team I've seen . But winning the three team trophies this season is a fine achievement .
  4. No more Desperate Deek . Like Big bad Brett , Captain Baconheid , The Moped , and Fisher . He was mentioned in the same breath as those Monarchs bogeymen . His retirement makes pre meeting previews against the Smugs more difficult , but I wish him well in his retirement . I think that makes old Jimmy Culbert Scotland's number 1 now .
  5. Cheating , act of desperation , call it what you will , the ref had enough about him to award the race . Like diving in football , this seems to have become an accepted tactic . Seen it too many times where a rider goes down and the current state of the race is the depending factor on whether he clears the track or not . More refs should follow Mr Breckon's example .
  6. Forget all the silly griping about who profited best from the t/r's , the best team over the season won the title . That's not taking anything away from Somerset , three play off finals ( winning one and narrowly losing out in the other two ) in succession is an astonishing record . But , sadly for us in the west , there's no denying that Edinburgh have been the stand out team this season and have deservedly won a clean sweep of team trophies .
  7. a damp squib of a season has petered out in a fitting way . No doubt we'll get fined for not completing our fixtures . Still onwards and upwards , 2015 will be better
  8. I got interviewed by Radio Bristol one year when I was down at the OTA with the Tigers , me Bill and Alan had been on an all day Highbridge pub crawl as well
  9. Yes the Smugs might have won the League Cup already , but with this being the final match of the competition , then surely the victors must be considered League Cup champions . As it is the guest part of the season , both teams are well represented in that sphere . Dimitri , Rusty and Tero have sent their kevlars to the dry cleaners for the winter , so we have drafted in Workington's Ricky Wells , who has guested for us previously with distinction over in Smugville , and it's a return to a Tigers bib for WEE JOE JACOBS . Berwick have strengthened their team with a couple of National Leaguers . Can we end our League Cup campaign in a blaze of glory and avenge previous defeats at the hands of the Banditos , course we can . 3-15 start time tomorrow as me and Willie and Andy sometimes have bother getting a taxi from the Horseshoe .
  10. Another week , another let's bash the Speedway Star thread .There is an old saying that goes " you don't know what you've got till it's gone "
  11. In this country you're just as likely to suffer a rain off in June or July as you are in October .
  12. No idea , just going by what I read in the Speedway Star about a fortnight ago
  13. NL would kill it stone dead , so can't see that happening . Anyway there are rumours of a big takeover , so who would buy it and go NL ?
  14. Not true , there's still the " after the final , final " between Glasgow and Berwick on October 19th
  15. We've had the odd glimmer , but by and large he has disappointed .
  16. A proper number 1 is an essential . Simon Stead or Son of God would fit the bill . Keep Kasper and Dimitri and maybe Rusty and Theo unless they are reclaimed by their parent clubs . Definitely not Wolbert though , he's been a disgrace this year and I don't even care if he heads back to Smugville on his low average .
  17. Own team - erm Best meeting - Glasgow v Plymouth Best rider (own team ) Rusty Harrison mostly Best Overall team - erm .................them Weakest overall team - Rye House Best Visitors to our track - erm ...........god almighty ............them Weakest visitors - Rye House , couldn't win when we had to track two national leaguers Best rider seen at Ashfield - Son of God's 15 point maximum when Redcar were at Glasgow Best fans - probably Workington's Worst fans - nobody really , not even the smugs
  18. Need to wait on my newsletter being e-mailed during the week , but I'd be amazed if it wasn't three o clock
  19. Not after a hundred or so Airdrie neds swinging empty Buckfast bottles annex Berwick and make it a league of three
  20. Since our record in signing useless foreigners is second to none , you can't do without us
  21. There is a thread for all this twit for tat nonsense elsewhere , this was meant to be a light hearted take on the speedway situation
