Even so , it would be a young British rider making strides , which we should all welcome

Speedway Star - 22nd November 2014

I had a picture of Debbie Hancock in mine , but it wasn't on page 3 -
He did score an Ashfield paid maximum back in his Smug days , he's a decent enough third heat leader in the Premier League . Son of God presumably has to get his Christmas commitments out the way before taking up his birthright finally . Delighted with the team . Kozza and Nick aren't liked in Smugville , so it will make a refreshing change for us to have the pantomime villians in a derby clash . Glad to have Dimitri back , though it will mean limited r/r options . James Serjeant looked to be progressing well when I watched Coventry on the telly last season , so well see how he copes with the higher level of the Premier League . And maybe Victor will be more at home starting level with everyone else and at reserve . He was put in an impossible situation last season . After a couple of poor years , we have high hopes at competing at the right end of the table in 2015 , but I'm sure there will be a few more tasty looking sides put together before the winter is out . And once the replacements for refused work permits is settled too haha

How funny would that be

So we have a bye in the KO Cup first round , then Newcastle or Scunthorpe in the quarters . Couple of good decisions coming out of the conference . Only one t/r can be used now , between heats 5 and 12 when a team is 10 or more behind . And no t/r's in any tie which is decided by aggregate . So no t/r's in the play offs . And those play offs are now quarters and semis with the top two in league straight into the semis , with 3v6 and 4v5 in the quarters . And we still have 42 and a half to try and build a competitive side with However the Dark Lord remains the Exalted Cyclops at BSPA towers for another year , so nothing will go in our favour as usual Oh and 3 points for all home wins now

If You Could Sign One Ex Pl Rider?

The one and only Shane Parker -
Out of interest , why is Cook copping flak for so called lack of ambition if he doesn't ride abroad , while British riders of equal ability like King and Barker aren't ?
-
£16 at most Premier tracks , £17 at some Elite League tracks - go figure
-
We were the only 2nd tier side to win in 1992 , beating Cradley 46-44 . We lost 42-48 to Ipswich in the next round
-
When they are ready to I would imagine
-
Maybe not , but the inter league cup ran in the early nineties , where the lower league team had guaranteed home advantage , was great entertainment
-
You wont hear many of us from our end of the M8 belittling Cook's achievements , we've been on the wrong end of his scoring prowess often enough to realise how good he is . We had one like him in the late 70's and all of the 80's who carved out a decent career in the 2nd tier of British speedway .
-
He scored about 8 at Bradford if my memory is correct . Robbie never completed 4 laps at his first visit to Powderhall and never shone there much after . At places like Sheffield and Exeter though he was terrific . Csillik never looked quick enough , I don't remember if he was in that 1991 Hungarian touring side that Nagy shone in , in their 51-39 win at Shawfield . There wasn't many tears shed at Csillik's departure though , as he was replaced by .................Shane Bowes

Good post George , but sadly the things you describe is repeated at many tracks up and down the country . I don't have the answers , but speedway needs to give itself a shake . Poorly prepared tracks in ramshackle stadiums , listening to cringing amateur presentation isn't the way to attract new sponsors and fans to the sport . The hardcore supporter is becoming an ageing , dwindling band and unless new blood can be drawn to the sport , I cant see it surviving another decade in it's present form .
-
Robert Nagy was awesome . Only Glasgow rider to win the riders championship , career cruelly cut short by that idiot Matuesek . Bowes was great entertainment to watch , but Nagy was the better rider
-
Sign the burgermuncher if you want , we don't care , we're going to be the powerhouse outfit next season anyway :-)
-
Scotsman has it spot on , a lot of British riders just don't want to have the weekly travel north of the border .

I'm just as good at football coupons oh and hands up all those who predicted the remarkable improvement in Steve Worrall .........................................thought not . His improvement laid the groundwork for the Monarch's success this season .
-
Arena Essex 1991 , by far the best 2nd tier team I've seen . But winning the three team trophies this season is a fine achievement .
-
No more Desperate Deek . Like Big bad Brett , Captain Baconheid , The Moped , and Fisher . He was mentioned in the same breath as those Monarchs bogeymen . His retirement makes pre meeting previews against the Smugs more difficult , but I wish him well in his retirement . I think that makes old Jimmy Culbert Scotland's number 1 now .
-
Cheating , act of desperation , call it what you will , the ref had enough about him to award the race . Like diving in football , this seems to have become an accepted tactic . Seen it too many times where a rider goes down and the current state of the race is the depending factor on whether he clears the track or not . More refs should follow Mr Breckon's example .

Forget all the silly griping about who profited best from the t/r's , the best team over the season won the title . That's not taking anything away from Somerset , three play off finals ( winning one and narrowly losing out in the other two ) in succession is an astonishing record . But , sadly for us in the west , there's no denying that Edinburgh have been the stand out team this season and have deservedly won a clean sweep of team trophies .
