  1. I'm afraid we may never see a rider have such an impact on and off the track , as Shane Parker was for our club . We were truly blessed for 6 seasons and the void he left has never really been filled and probably never will be .
  2. I was at Berwick , and yes it appeared wet track Rusty wasn't exactly putting it all in . And his away form can be erratic . But for his home form alone , i would have him in my team . Rusty , Anders ,Dimitri and Kasper would be fine as over half the 2015 septet
  3. Rusty's home form in the main has been very good . And for his ability round Ashfield , i would have him back next year
  4. I'll go to the home leg , but signing another foreign duffer has all but killed my interest this season . Newcastle to qualify quite comfortably on aggregate
  5. I think that's probably true . But we seem to get force fed more foreign duds than most
  6. Exactly . Even rider replacement for Henry is about 6 or 7 points better off than bringing in another duff Scandanavian who doesn't look anywhere near PL standard .
  7. The problem isn't the play-offs , well most of us seem to embrace them as we realise that is the way nearly all team sports are going , it's the fact that clubs pursuing the dream risk putting themselves at risk financially . Time BSPA looked at some structured prize money for league success . Obviously that would mean viable sponsorship , so maybe they should look at bigging the sport up and fulfilling their obligation as custodians of the sport .
  8. Yeah you're probably right , i was just likening it to what happens with the play-offs in ice hockey . Where the four qualifying clubs do battle at Nottingham ice rink over the one weekend in April .
  9. I would agree with that . I would take Edinburgh to beat Leicester over 2 legs
  10. Play-offs enhance many sports , Rugby League , Ice Hockey , Basketball to name but 3 . Why shouldn't speedway bring it's season to a spectacular end . I'd go even further and have the semi finals and final on a neutral track on the same weekend . Imagine going down to somewhere like Kings Lynn this season and having Edinburgh v Peterborough followed by Ipswich v Berwick on the Saturday . Then the 3rd place meeting followed by the final on the Sunday .
  11. Since the Berwick v Edinburgh meeting is next TUESDAY evening , i presume there isn't a fixture clash
  12. I was there on Saturday , Dick's a mate so i canny say too much haha
  13. Go to Edinburgh and you get hit with , the mighty monarchs , the record breaking monarchs , and recently the incredible monarchs . That and other nausiating back slapping smugness has one reaching for the sick bag .
  14. Not if the play-off criteria is agreed by everyone from the off . The League competition is actually only a qualifying competition .
  15. Aye , he'll be alright when he drops to reserve that's our catchphrase
  16. Bit harsh that , most fans were looking for a signing to excite us and give us a chance of some success in the KO Cup . What we got was someone hardly anybody had heard of . Now i hope the laddie does ok , but we've not got a great record in dabbling in the Scandanavian market . Saturday night didn't exactly inspire confidence that Victor might be any better than Juul , Andersen , Tornqvist etc .
  17. I think the main question should be , with the Smugs running away with the league - who can stop them becoming champions . Berwick look sure bets for the play-offs , but their record against Edinburgh is lamentable and are discounted for that reason . Somerset should be there too , and are capable , but some of their away performances - especially at Ipswich , casts a doubt . Peterborough have been impressive against them , both at home and in Smugville , they would have been favourites had they been able to bring in Schlein , wonder who blocked that one ? Ipswich take great delight in noising up the Smugs , so they would be useful play off contenders Of the rest , Scunny could make the play-offs if Howe clicks at reserve for the next month , while Workington are capable , but they are as bad as Berwick at the Dump .
  18. Dimitri never looked short on confidence at Berwick last night , wee Dorothy 58 couldn't watch at times haha
  19. Third time lucky for this particular fixture tomorrow night hopefully . Glasgow might be storm lashed this afternoon , but the forecast for tomorrow looks much better . Fans are becoming increasingly disgruntled with the ridiculous inconsistancy of our team , especially the proven PL performers or supposedly proven PL performers . Our new signing makes his home debut , and here's hoping Ashfield proves more to his liking than splashing round Shielfield Park did last night . He's a big , skinny laddie who looks a bit like Mitchell Davey on the bike ...............oh dear . Once again we could be looking at our youngsters and Theo to take the attack to the Scorpions , and hope Wolbert can be bothered . No idea on the line ups , but we should be along the same lines as last night - 1 Victor Palovaara 2 Theo Pijper 3 Kevin Wolbert 4 Anders Thomsen 5 Rusty Harrison 6 Kasper Lykke 7 Dimitri Berge As for Scunthorpe , i've no idea what the new green sheets does to their line up , but i heard a rumour than David Howe could drop to reserve . That is an interesting development if true . Nicolai Klindt will lead their attack and with the likes of Birks and Jorgensen both very capable round Ashfield , and i assume still using r/r for Auty , this could be a very close and entertaining meeting . Though what to expect from our lot is anybodies guess .
  20. Usually around the middle of September , but with many clubs facing a huge backlog of fixtures - who can tell
  21. It's pretty obvious where the Eurosport coverage falls down , not enough emphasis is placed on the Monster girl's arses . Fair enough it's probably supposed to be about speedway , but where a GP is being held on a temporary track , surely more coverage of the start ladies would enhance the evening's entertainment and take our minds off the poor fayre on the track . Eurosport , like most fringe cable channels , have a duty to cater for your average pervert instead of wasting time on four wee guys going round in circles on a motor bike thingy .
