  1. What time do schoolkids go to bed these days ? Surely most kids are back home by 10 o clock after a home speedway meeting
  2. 1970's Coatbridge . I used to stand on the back straight with this lassie Heather , whit a pair she had . A 16 year old's dream
  3. And to think this is the guy who said i had a chip on my shoulder . We're into potato croquet country now . I actually started that thread as a tribute to the Monarchs' achievement , comparing them to the best 2nd tier side in the last 25 years . But hey hoh .
  4. Are you trying to say it's overkill haha . Still 2 more league meetings at Armadale and one at Ashfield to go . If you get past Berwick and we somehow overcome Newcastle , then that will be another two meetings in the KO Cup , and they can go to replays . So can we quietly shuffle the Scottish Cup into cold storage this season ?
  5. Aye we are . You are annoyingly good most seasons , while we are .................well just not as annoyingly good mostly . Still i think we closed the gap a bit yesterday , and if we are at full strength whenever the next league match at Ashfield is , then you never know
  6. I think the point is , how do we replace the over 50's over the next 10 or 20 years
  7. Didn't quite reach the entertainment value of the Plymouth meeting the week before , but it was still a pretty good match . Obviously it's never nice to lose to the Monarchs , especially at home , but they are a solid outfit and there was still reason to be proud of the Tigers' performance in the meeting . Sooner we get back to full strength the better though .
  8. We know Cook chances his arm at the starts , we've all seen it . But that's not to say he isn't a decent rider . The question is though , how does this Edinburgh record equalling side stack up against that wonderful Hammers side
  9. At Glasgow today , Edinburgh equalled the unbeaten record of the wonderful Arena Essex side of 1991 . I know times have changed and i admire the brilliant start the Monarchs have had , but are Cook , Masters and co really the equal of Brian Karger , Bo Petersen and that fantastic side of 1991 , which Glasgow took to a replay in the KO Cup final of that year
  10. Edinburgh are certainly are very decent side , even with your number one having an iffy meeting by his high standards , you didnt look like losing today
  11. Ach that was good today , we gave the buggers a run for their money , at least it wasn't a slaughter . When we gated in heat 15 i thought we might have got a draw , but sadly not to be . You canny take it away from them , Edinburgh are a very good side and are head and shoulders above everybody else at the moment .
  12. Dry morning so far . Looks like it's all systems go . Horseshoe Bar at opening time if anyone fancies joining me and Willie Morris
  13. Just getting my stuff looked out for tomorrow . Anti-smug spray , plenty money for alcohol , worry beads . Yup i'm ready
  14. Weather forecast looks much more positive now , so at least the rain shouldn't scupper that attempt . But just imagine after the wonderful unbeaten start to the season , it was the Tiggers who brought it to an end God i would be in some nick at work on Monday morning
  15. Seems to be the reason . The doubling up should be a natural progression from PL to EL . A rider should be able to double up for two seasons before being made to choose whether he's an EL rider or a PL rider . And if he chooses the former and he gets dropped , if he drops back down to PL , he stays there for the rest of that season . With the mess we have now , nobody knows who's riding for who .
  16. Ben Barker is in town , just a precaution
  17. So despite the protestations from our rule book experts from the east , we haven't actually done anything wrong ........................phew
  18. Tuesdays is not the real issue . At Glasgow we dont get anymore than 500 through the turnstiles these days and we race on a Sunday afternoon . It's the sport as a whole , in this country , which seems to be dying on it's feet and nobody has a clue how to halt the decline .
  19. Calm yourself , obviously we have been granted a facility . I actually think we should have signed a short term replacement , but after the way we were cheated in the David Bellego affair , the reluctance to do so is understandable .
