  1. I don't suppose we'll ever know the full details , but the rumours that were sweeping the Armadale terraces on Friday night will not have went unnoticed by the riders , so the whiff of change was there and Lemon must have known he was one of the more vulnerable ones to be a victim of that change .
  2. Well we don't know all the details , so we're just speculating . How do you know that Mark wasn't told last night and it was all amicable and he was asked for his opinion .
  3. Speedway promoters seem to possess the brass neck unheard of in other sports . It's not the first time we've heard of a rider completing a meeting for his club , then sacked
  4. Along with death and taxes , rain on a Sunday is rapidly joining the only certainties in life . I'm getting pretty sick of it Mind you , got the taxi up from the Horseshoe and got there about 2 , loads of folk hanging about and the gates weren't open . I said to Willie , sod this i'm not paying to get in yet , lets go into the Ashfield Bar for a pint and wait a while . Once we heard it was off , we finished our pints and went in for a look - track was like porridge .
  5. She toys with us , she gets her kicks that way . So it looks like today's teams are Glasgow 1 Kevin Wolbert 2 r/r for Theo Pijper 3 Mark Lemon © 4 Anders Thomsen 5 Mason Campton (guest) 6 Kasper Lykke 7 Andre Compton (guest) Scunthorpe 1 Nicolai Klindt 2 Josh Auty 3 David Howe 4 Ashley Birks © 5 Ryan Douglas 6 Matt Williamson 7 Thomas Jorgensen
  6. It is a difficult one . Berge , we are told , will be back at some point . He actually drops to reserve today . But we are beginning to worry that it's going to be long term and he was the shining light of our season before he got hurt . As for the rest . Anders Thomsen cant be faulted . The lad is riding out his skin , ok maybe he tries a wee bit too hard at times , but you canny criticise the lad for that . We'll see how he does out of the reserve position . Kasper Lykke also cant be faulted . Fair enough he cant gate for toffee , but he tries his heart out in every race . Now it gets more murkier . Theo Pijper is fine at home when he gates , more often than not he's ineffective when he doesn't . 5/10 for his performances so far . Rusty Harrison has in the main done his job , apart from the last home match against Workington . The headache excuse for Friday's absence , hot on the heels of the disappointing return against Workington , got the rumour mill working overtime on Friday . Mark Lemon is 41 and obviously not the force he once was , he's scoring the fives and sixes which is basically all we can expect . Kevin Wolbert is the main disappointment . We know how good a rider he is , we've seen it in the past round Armadale and Ashfield when he was a Monarch What we have witnessed this season isn't even close to what he was just a couple of seasons ago . Mark Lemon scoring 5 and 6 is one thing , Wolbert scoring the same is quite another . We've heard all the excuses about engines etc , we've had enough . A number one scoring 5 and 6 isn't going to win his team many meetings . Our bottom end is improving and exciting . The four experienced riders at the top aren't raising their game adequately enough ,and in Wolbert's case not at all . Regardless what changes are made , nobody among the Tigers faithful would lose any sleep if any of the top 4 are replaced .
  7. So far so good on the battle with Mother Nature . The old witch is keeping her tactics close to her chest , but it's cloudy but dry at the moment .
  8. Agreed , Lemon is a pale shadow of the rider he once was , but he's for the most part doing his job . Wolbert continues to frustrate . The last home meeting against Workington he wins heat 1 and does very little after that . Friday night he is woeful in his opening two rides , then scores 7 from his last three when the meeting is beyond us . We need a number 1 scoring a number 1's points , not just coming up with the occasional race win .
  9. Yes he is on the board . And i find his comments patronising and annoying . He wasn't standing with us watching that dross last night , he wasn't " getting behind the club " like the couple of hundred of the rest of us did by turning up last night . I sometimes wonder what happens to ordinary supporters when they get a whiff of importance , yes we were annoyed by that Tigers' performance last night - does that make us bad supporters ?
  10. I know it seems a distant memory now , but it was only three years ago . And unfortunately beer is a necessary tool with which to watch the current mob .
  11. Very true , smugs will run out of steam by the time the play offs arrive . Teams can look very different by then . Had there been play offs in 2011 i've no doubt Newport would have been champions instead of us .
  12. On a Sunday afternoon ? I believe Andre Compton is guesting for us in place of Dimitri again tomorrow . Not sure if that nonsense Theo is away riding in is important or sanctioned enough to enable us a facility if Rusty still has a sore head
  13. Well weather watchers , nobody knows what kind of side we will have out . We know Dimitri is out , that's the easy one . Theo wont be there , he's away riding in the Southern Mozambique best pairs or some nonsense like that . Will Rusty still have a headache ? All this and more will be answered , maybe , during our weekly Sunday battle with Mother Nature .
  14. True , they were popping wheelies on the back straight while ours hadn't reached the first bend . And thinking about , anyone wanting a pop about me complaining about last night , just be thankful you weren't stood beside me when we'd amassed the grand total of 12 points after heat 8 . I went there last night , not expecting my team to win but at least hoping to give them a run for their money , what we witnessed in those first 8 heats was nothing short of embarrassing .
  15. Yes , and the 2003 , 2008 , 2010 the smug years shirts
  16. How it finished 58-32 is the biggest mystery of all tonight . From heat 9 onwards Glasgow only finished 2 points down .
  17. That was absolutely dreadful . Fair enough Edinburgh are a very good side , but those first 8 heats tonight were the worst i've ever seen from a Tigers side . 36-12 after heat 8 and two taccy rides producing zilch , i thought were were going to be lucky to get 20 never mind the 32 we managed to muster . No heart , no fight apart from Anders Thomsen , a truely abysmal performance . We showed more fight during the average fixing meeting in 2010 than we did in those first 8 heats tonight . Where we go from here god only knows , but we have to take a long hard look at ourselves , cause we still have a decent following , but we are being force fed garbage . Wolbert starts to ride once the meeting is lost , Pijper looked as if he'd never seen Armadale before . We're having to watch Cook popping wheelies half a lap ahead of our riders . It's just not good enough .
  18. What's wrong , not predicting defeat . Anyway it is a lovely morning , hope it stays that way - even within the Armadale micro climate
  19. We've struggled for guests since Stoney and Lee Complin retired
  20. oh i see , oh well when i eventually lift that water fountain and throw it at Nurse Ratchett , i'm sure i'll be cured
  21. The cup tie has been rescheduled for the 14th/15th June
