  1. And the winner of the funniest post on this thread goes to ..........................................
  2. We need at least a 12-14 point lead to take down there , so we need to get off to a flying start .
  3. Of course i live in the wrong place , but it would be hard getting to work from Mauritius every day . Anyway after all the wet stuff that fell in the wrong place last night , been dry all morning so far . It is cloudy and showers is a possibility , so fingers crossed . See you later Lioness
  4. Not at all , going by this season's rules you could use r/r for Rosen in that eventuality
  5. Couldnt get any wetter tonight if it tried , hope this rain ceases during the night and doesn't return
  6. Yeah but the r/r scored about what the Golden Child would have scored We'll need to go all out to bring this winning record to a shuddering halt at Ashy at the end of the month . Enough's enough
  7. Scary stuff , making a decent looking Plymouth side look very ordinary on their own midden . Smugville is going to be sair to bare this season again
  8. The lad will be back once he's over this , fear not George .
  9. All we know is he's away back home for some red wine and frogs legs convalescence . He's says he'll be back as soon as he's ready .
  10. On the perhaps optimistic assumption that the weekend is going to be dry , we should be racing our KO Cup tie with Rye House on Sunday . As they seem to be the only side with a worse record for sun-offs than us , this might well be the first leg . Of course we did face the Rockets at this stage last season , but the tie was effectively over after a pumping at Hoddesdon . Two different looking sides this season , though both seem to be struggling slightly . Though successive home wins should breathe a bit of confidence into our side . They are led by the bloke with the dodgy silencers and the only two point averaged GP rider . I am confident we might just get the better of them this season and progress to meet Newcastle in the next round . Sundays teams should be ( assuming the Outer Mongolian silver helmet doesn't interfere with the line ups ) Glasgow 1 Kevin Wolbert 2 r/r for Dimitri Berge 3 Mark Lemon 4 Theo Pijper 5 Rusty Harrison 6 The amazing Anders Thomsen 7 Kasper Lykke Rye House 1 Eddie Kennett 2 Luke Bowen 3 Jason Bunyan 4 Steve Boxall 5 Matt Tresarrieu 6 Jason Garrity 7 Ben Hopwood Certainly Jason Garrity could be very troublesome at reserve , but if we can hold it to ten points or better down there , i'd be happy with that .
  11. What you have to remember is that riders do it purely for our entertainment , so when one is sat at the pits gate asking for " any change mate " , have we , as fans , the moral fibre to say " no " ?
  12. I'd swap Schramm for a toaster and a cutlery set
  13. We get this " oh i dont really think we're good enough " guff every year , when everybody else fears they are .
  14. Suppose situations like this can arise when a sport strangles itself by an ever increasing , and confusing , set of rules and regulations
  15. Speedway is just fighting a losing battle against changing times . In the sixties and seventies , there wasnt nearly as much competition for our time and money . Shops didnt open till dark o clock , there wasn't endless football matches and other sporting attractions available to watch on TV . A wet Sunday afternoon in Glasgow , are you going to chance the speedway is on or are you going to sit at home with the feet up and enjoy a beer watching Arsenal v West Brom and Chelsea v Norwich . The die hards will always choose the speedway , but the die hards is an increasingly dwindling number
  16. Agreed , strength in depth gets you success . Any team which has ended up winning anything in the last ten years or so has had a trump card at reserve . Keeping Jensen there as long as possible would go a long way in making Berwick's season a good one
  17. Two words to describe yesterday's meeting , Anders Thomsen . The young lad was absolutely brilliant . Without him the meeting would have been a total rain affected borefest , young master Thomsen rescued things for the paying public . That saying , he had solid back up from Theo Pijper , Rusty Harrison and even Kevin Wolbert looked a lot faster in heat 15 than he has all season . For the Bears , Son of God got over his bout of " crap guest syndrome " from last week and raced to an imperious maximum . Yes he was outstanding , but it was all gate and gone from him , unlike Thomsen who had us all covering our eyes with his round the airfence bursts ( canny say round the boards anymore ) . Summers started brightly , but faded . Graversen had his moments , Konopka looks a complete nutcase , Crang did all that could be expected from him , while Skidmore and Wilkinson disappointed . That pairing looks a problem for the Bears away from home . A happy home support in the bar afterwards , all in all a good day .
  18. Reported in this morning's Sun that Kevin Wolbert had splashed out 4 grand on two new engines . Let's hope that does the trick and he can now become the number 1 we know he can be . Very murky in Glasgow this morning , fingers crossed the rain stays away .
