  1. Especially when he started peeling the bandages off and there was nobody there
  2. Swindon have previous with this kind of behaviour . They did the same when they said they were buying Jonasson from Edinburgh .
  3. Think it's up to the individual track mate . I did for the Glasgow page about 4 years ago and was asked to do it by our centre green presenter .
  4. I agree , it's fascinating at times to see the antics at the tapes before the start of a race and moving the tapes back to where they were before would be a good move . It would also , presumably , get rid of the Armadale optical illusion which awarded riders races when they looked about a wheel length behind . Of course there is the safety issue regarding the current 3rd/4th bend being turned into the 1st/2nd bend , but an experienced and capable track curator such as Doc Bridgett must be confident that particular problem can be overcome successfully or the change wouldn't have been considered . Any change to try and enhance the product for the spectators has to be applauded and it's in everybodies interest that this proves successful .
  5. that's the reason for all the argument , there's no clarity
  6. don't , it will start all the paranoia off again
  7. It did seem strange the appeal for Horwood was successful in such a short period of time after the initial rejection of his application .
  8. Great post Scotchopper . Speedway is riddled with the secret sam stuff and it is now in the best interests of everybody to have more clarity , plus having a governing body run by the very people decisions will have an impact on doesn't help the paranoia . Glasgow fans , well a section of them , feel aggreived as they feel the BSPA has some sort of bias against them . There was the brushing under the carpet of the Bellego ownership argument , which eventually went against us . There was the refusal to let us switch to a Friday racenight and now we have another battle to fight to have the 7 riders signed actually allowed to get to the tapes wearing the stripes . Having the BSPA chairman promoting at our greatest rivals only adds fuel to the paranoid flame when decisions go against us . I'm in no doubt any bias against us exists only in our imagination , but it's easy to see why there is a feeling of the world being against us when these issues arise . I fear the appeal against the decision to refuse Joey Ringwood will go against us next week , which will spark off yet another outburst of outrage . For that reason i hope i'm wrong .
  9. It's a choice between signing two riders with the 10.3 now at our disposal , or send Harley and Joey a copy of the Koran each and a couple of burkhas to make sure they get into the country .
  10. Wouldn't think so mate . You said Koppe had been here and working for a while , so he should be fine . And you'll probably find your Argentinian laddie will acquire a Spanish passport from somewhere .
  11. I suppose looking at it without the red and white goggles on , there is a bit of sense in this . If i was Charles Wright i would be very vocal in my disgust at not getting a team place when there's Aussies getting signed up , who on the face of it , aren't any better than him . With Harkess being Chairman of the BSPA and a promoter at the dump , it's very easy for my fellow Tigers fans to believe the evil , bony hand of Edinburgh is behind all this , especially when Fricke seems to be ok to start a British career . But lets just dodge the bullet we should have dodged last year , and sign another two riders that we can be reasonably sure will at least ride to their average .
  12. Exactly , we are all getting a bit fed up with continual sob stories from promotions . We had it at Glasgow , Edinburgh and Workington last year as well . It's like promotions are putting all the onus onto supporters and potential sponsors if things aren't going right . Getting beyond a joke now .
  13. No , they would be stuffed . Which makes me feel it's a scare story .
  14. Is this just a Peter Waite style scarestory i'm hearing , or is there really a financial crisis ? If the Bandits don't run what happens regarding the Benfund and the World Under 21 final ?
  15. Weather permitting that work is ongoing tomorrow , though the forecast isn't encouraging
  16. I can see that fluctuating between home and away meetings . Obviously Cook will be number 1 , but i can see Pijper riding at 5 at home meetings with Masters at 4 and them reversing that away from Armadale . Cook and Pijper will be a stronger heat 13 combination at home , while Masters will be more effective in that heat away . Elsewhere i reckon Sneddon at 2 and Fricke at 3 and Tabaka at 7 with either Helfer or Bekker at 6 .
  17. Last year the programme was £2-50 and the car park was £2 . I would be surprised if that changed .
  18. As long as they want me to go around counting folk
  19. The weather was a factor , but the quality of racing was rubbish too . Getting a track capable of exciting racing should the the most important factor , get that right and we'll hit that breakeven figure no problem .
  20. I don't think the poster was belittling Scotland or Scottish speedway . Like it or not we are still an outpost in speedway terms , Jim McMillan always said that his biggest regret was not moving south earlier in his career . Edinburgh will be a good place for him to start his speedway education , they've proved time and again that they're good at bringing young riders on , but he'd have been more in the spotlight based down south . Whether or not that is a good thing is debateable .
  21. If you read between the lines in the Sean Courtney interview in this weeks Speedway Star , it might shed some light on it . He said he was pleased with Harley Horwood with the fact that he didn't barter when the deal was put to him .
  22. Pretty sure that working visa thing was stopped a few years ago Wendy
