  1. Tigers to rock the speedway world and inflict a shock home defeat on the self proclaimed Champions elect .
  2. He seemed to put in an improved performance at Newcastle on Monday , hope he remedies what the problem is . Cause he's a great character and when he's on form he really gets the crowd going .
  3. I think that one was because Newcastle United had an evening match . But it was great getting back to Glasgow in good time to hit the pubs
  4. We had an afternoon one down there 3 or 4 years ago . Was great cause we were back in Glasgow by about 9
  5. Was all pretty unseemly and basically daft
  6. Pretty sure he's the best rider in the PL at present . Be interesting to hear a Scuuny supporter's take on things today .
  7. Optical illusion , gate looks perfectly straight when you walk past it entering the stadium .
  8. I can never quite understand your average speedway fan's fixation with passing anyway . OK yes it's exciting to watch a race where riders are swapping places , but i've seen many a classic race when the guy in front uses all his trackcraft to keep an opponent behind him .
  9. He was right off the pace yesterday and only scored a point , which came in his first race , when he overtook the equally awful visiting number 4 . Two bad lasts followed before he was replaced by Joe Jacobs in heat 14 , which turned out to be the change which saved the meeting for us . We know Henning is better than that , so whether it's mechanical or still struggling with the injury he sustained at Berwick last year - i really don't know . Going back to the subject of the track , when i was leaving the stadium yesterday i got talking to Sean Courtney and he seemed genuinely pleased at how much i was buzzing from the racing . He went on to tell me that Stuart Robson was raving about how good the track was now and also how complimentary Robbo was about how sporting Screen and Grieves were in the amount of racing room he was given during that wonderful heat 13 . A nice touch from a rider who entertained us royally yesterday .
  10. I'm not 100% sure why that should be the case , but the outside gates do seem to be better . You get a lot of riders building up speed and going wide out to the fence , on the 1st and 2nd bends , and that drive can take them to the lead coming out of the 2nd bend . But likewise it's possible cut down hard on the apex of the bends and move to the inside and make a place or two that way . ertainly it's not uncommon to have four riders almost level on entering the back straight . But if you have not got your gating boots on when coming from gate 1 , you get the nose cut off you on entering turn 1 .
  11. Dont know what the story is there , but he was very poor today .
  12. Though Robbo's passing of Screen and Grieves during heat 13 is one of the best races seen at Ashfield for many a season .
  13. Yes . Maybe Robbo forgot how advantageous the outside gates are at Ashfield , we only get to enjoy his racing once or twice a season
  14. I know , but he's just a young lad making his way in the sport . Pressure was on in heat 14 when he came in to replace the woeful Bager . Kerr and Lindgren flew from the tapes , for what would probably have been a match winning 5-1 , but young Jacobs rode a superb race to pick both of them off and turn the meeting our way . He also had a very good race with Christian Henry in heat 12 . And to answer your earlier question , the outside gates are usually better round our place as the riders get a lot of drive around the outside on turns 1 and 2
  15. Young Kerr is certainly electric from the gate , and looks a sylish rider when in front . Not at the races when he missed the start , but he's only learning and i don't think he's ever ridden Ashfield before . So 8 points from 5 rides is very commendable on an away circuit .
  16. He wasn't badly off the pace today , was a hard , entertaining meeting and every point was fought for . He didn't look any worse than Lindgren
  17. Ht 9 was the worst jump start i've seen in ages , kept waiting for the lights to come on and they never did . She must have been doing her knitting
  18. If you witness tomorrow what we saw today , then you're in for a treat . But sadly i think we'll probably struggle round Brough .
  19. That was awesome today , never came out of Glasgow buzzing about the speedway like this for years . Credit to both sides for an amazing 15 heats of speedway . The highlight being heat 13 , although it was painful for us you have to credit Stuart Robson for riding an unbelievable race to pass both Screen and then Grieves . And what about young Joe Jacobs , how this lad is progressing . When both Diamonds gated in heat 14 i thought the game was up for us , but young Joe brought the house down by passing both of them . The older Joe then clinched the points in heat 15 , but that ride in heat 14 really won us the meeting . Bager struggling again was the only lowpoint for us and Lindgren was much the same for the Diamonds . But overall speedway was the winner today . Whatever was done to our track during the winter has done the trick and we are now watching some fantastic speedway .
  20. A dry and bright start to the day , for anyone thinking of travelling north .
  21. He had a very good night at Scunny a couple of years ago too . Does ok at Somerset on occasion . Struggles on most other tracks , especially the smaller circuits . Too lightweight in a tight first corners to progress much further than he is now .
