  1. I don't see how JDC stepping down as promoter means the end of the Monarchs . They have a more than capable board of directors out of which any of them would make a decent job of replacing Campbell should they so wish . And i know they all think too much of the Monarchs to simply just let it die . So i think this thread is making a mountain out of a molehill
  2. Last speedway in 2012 for us , unless we hit 70 which is highly unlikely , and thankfully it's dry . Been a horrible season for most teams this year thanks to the crappy weather and financial turmoil , but i think i'll have a few bevvys today and enjoy the last meeting of the season . It's a bit of a strange looking Glasgow side due to absentees , but this always seems to happen to us at the arse end of the year - remember the Scottish Cup match on Halloween at the dump a few years back lol . Anyway todays PL select sides should be - Glasgow Select 1 Ryan Fisher lol 2 Mr Rider Replacement 3 Kevin Doolan 4 Matthew Wethers 5 One of ours James Grieves 6 James McBain 7 Charles Wright Berwick Select 1 Theo Pijper 2 Austen Powers 3 Robin Aspirin 4 Monsieur Bellego 5 Seb Alden 6 Ben Reade 7 Nikki Barrett I suspect it is more of an important meeting for the Borders Select as they only have to avoid defeat by 11 points to reach the final of this hugely important tournament , and i expect them to achieve that . But let's hope for an entertaining finale .
  3. Think the nail in a lot of club's coffins , after this season , has come from the sky . I've never known such a sustained spell of rain-offs throughout the country . Will the prizes in the PL ever get won on the track this season ?
  4. Superb mate . I get that too ....." We cant go anywhere on a Sunday cause you're going to that bloody speedway blah , blah , blah . I want to go down the coast blah , blah , blah " . Friday night speedway at Ashfield would save me a lot of earache .
  5. New promoter is Alan Biggart , a Tigers fan of many years who now resides in Denmark . The day to day running of the club will be done by most of the STARS commitee as Alan and his main shareholder , Gordon Pairman , have their bases away from our mainland . Speaking to Alan last night , he's well aware that the level of entertainment has to be improved and talks will be made with the stadium owners , Ashfield F.C. about improving all facets of the stadium . The track and bar area should be first in the list . It is also mooted that floodlights should be erected enabling us to return to Friday night racing . That will of course be subject to planning permission being attained . The target is to get 800 minimum through the turnstiles at Ashfield on a regular basis and all avenues will be investigated in order for that to happen
  6. I was getting promising texts regarding the Comets future last night too . I'm pretty certain our paths will cross next year as usual
  7. Was a great night last night . Much relief that the club will continue and that was followed by watching the GP on big screens amongst 300 speedway fans . We even had holiday makers from Bradford and Exeter with us to enjoy the night's entertainment . Also we had a fantastic special guest in Gary Havelock . A true legend of the sport .
  8. That wont happen , cause i'll be there anyway . Glasgow Guy is quite correct about the apathy amongst the Tigers' faithful , for the first time in living memory the end of season dance has been cancelled through lack of ticket sales . Hopefully what we hear next Saturday will change all that and have us looking forward to the 2013 season with renewed enthusiasm .
  9. Correct . Workington and Glasgow have had a competative , and not always friendly , rivalry over the last 10 years or so . However the prospect of no Tigers/Comets clashes at Ashfield or Derwent Park next season is unthinkable . Hopefully solutions for both clubs to run next year can be found and it's business as normal .
  10. Whilst trying to sneak in 27 Big Macs and 3 dozen crates of beer , into Sheffield on Sunday , it struck me how expensive this sport had become when i was forced to bin my snacks and pay £27-50 for a pie and a cup of tea inside the stadium .
  11. Never heard that , another one sneaked in under the radar
  12. Definitely . I was impressed with him at Glasgow last Sunday
  13. Aye , once again you've proved to be a credit to the club you claim to support .
  14. Darcy Ward was probably the last big money tranfer when he moved from Kings Lynn to Poole . Think the days of those kind of moves are now history as you quite rightly say .
  15. Yup , checked into the Garrison and down to the pub by opening time .
  16. Swindon dont have the kind of money to buy him outright , i would think Poole , Coventry and maybe Wolverhampton would be the only ones capable of buying anybody these days .
