Redcar V Newcastle League Cup Thursday 25th April 2013
Paulco replied to dantodan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That's the way every track should be . A track prepared for all 14 riders to produce the best racing they possibly can . I get heartily sick of the pursuit of home advantage , we ruined a great track at Glasgow because of this nonsense . If your team wins , all well and good . If it loses , that's life . But give the fans a fair track that riders can race on and perhaps we might hold onto the fans that we have . -
So we're out the KO Cup , unlikely to progress in the League Cup , so it's down to League business now . On the bright side , however , the entertainment factor in the racing has greatly improved and we have a shiny new bar to enjoy . Which , considering who we're racing this weekend , is very fortunate . Redcar have had a similar sort of difficult start to us , battered off their neighbours in their local challenge matches , followed by a slender win at home against Workington in the league cup and a battering away to the same opponents which leaves them unlikely to progress in that competition too . They did though progress in the KO Cup thanks to a combination of a brilliant pair of performances from reserve Mickey Dyer and an incredible collapse from Berwick who were 15 points ahead at the STMP at one point . Few well kent faces in the Bears outfit . Ex Tiger Mitchell Davey is a recent addition to the Bears line-up , while ex-Monarch Ann Summers and ex-Comic Ulrich Oystercard have guested for the Stripes at their old stomping grounds during our charge to the title in 2011 . And Ashfield has been a happy hunting ground for Matej Kus in the past as he once won the Heathersfield Silver Helmet as a 17 year old , before learning to speak English at the track after crashing on the 1st bend while riding for Berwick . Line-ups for Sunday should be along the lines of - Glasgow 1 Joe Screen 2 Joey Ringwood 3 James Wright 4 Henning Bager 5 James Grieves 6 Harley Horwood 7 Joe Jacobs Redcar 1 Ulrich Oystercard 2 Huge Skidmark 3 Ann Summers 4 Carl Wilkinson 5 The bi-lingual Matej Kus 6 Mitchell Davey 7 Mickey " lock up your women " Dyer Interesting opening league meeting which could be very tricky for us , but the hope is we make a 3 point start and we see some entertaining tussles . And that our very good friends from Redcar make the journey north to support their side .

Calm down . Rye fans are perfectly entitled to feel a bit short changed after our efforts there , that could very easily become a recurring story this season , but Sunday's performance certainly was heartening . I don't necessarily buy into the " Rye were riding within themselves " theory as there was still money to be earned . But i'm sorry Rye have actually been pretty decent around our place in the Ashfield era , none more so than the last time they ejected us from the KO Cup in 2005 .

Do you honestly think Andrew Tully wants to be injured , or that Newcastle are quite happy to plod along one team member short ? The scepticism of your average speedway fan never fails to amaze me . I'm quite sure Andrew will take his place in the Newcastle side when he's passed fit and that Newcastle will be happy to have him there .

Berwick V Edinburgh (league Cup) 20/4/13 @ 7pm

Well anyone with half a brain can see that it is a dangerous move . For the life of me i can't understand why the promoters have potentially made the sport more dangerous just for the sake of saving a few quid . -
I enjoyed that today , even though we were basically out before the meeting started , Good confidence building scores from our two new Aussies and entertaining and brave riding from the visiting Jason Garrity and Tyson Nelson . A heavy shower half way through threatened to spoil things , but on the whole it was a pretty entertaining meeting with close , exciting racing .

Don't be too hard on yourselves Banditos , the self proclaimed Champions elect are a decent outfit and you wont be the last club to lose at home to them this season . Look on the bright side - you could be us -

While the weather forecast doesn't exactly inspire confidence of this going ahead , if it does can the plucky underdogs upset the serene progress of the awesome Monarchs . The self proclaimed Champions elect roll into town expecting to slap down their noisy neighbours . Will the massive underdogs pull off the shock of the season and send the awesome ones back along the M8 greeting into their shortbread . Teams for Sunday should be - Plucky underdogs 1 Joe Screen 2 Joey Ringwood 3 James Wright 4 Henning Bager 5 James Grieves 6 Harley Horwood 7 Joe Jacobs Their esteemed awesomenesses 1 Cookie Monster 2 Desperate Deek 3 Theo the popular Monarch 4 The Golden Child 5 Crazy Claus 6 Dodgy German reserve 7 Tobacco Joe Should be a cracker as the Speedway Star predicted wooden spoonists get to share some track time with their blue blooded visitors . Sod this , lets just boot their sorry arses all the way back to West Lothian . -
I'm still unsure who actually won that race . Still first impressions of the track changes are favourable

Grievesy's right though , we've all heard the crap he gets through there . The stuff we gave Fisher is kindergarden stuff by comparison . -

Short and to the point though i didn't like the weather forecast i saw at the end of Reporting Scotland . -
And the new bar , with the impressive hall of fame , is a breath of fresh air

Not one pass made !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! were your eyes shut when Grieves and Aspregen were going at it during heat 4 ?
-
Shut it Blobby , you're talking drivel as usual . Some cracking racing today , Grieves and Aspregen in heat 4 being the best , though i did think Aspregen had won it , though the referee thought different . Wethers and Screeny a few heats later was out of the top drawer too . Heat 8 was a bit of a turning point , Barrett drifting wide on the 2nd bend in both starts causing both Bellego and later Ringwood to come down . Again the referee confused the watching crowd , both times should have brought all riders back . Hope Ricky is okay , looked a nasty one . The way his bike jerked and stopped suddenly suggested a mechanical issue , nothing to do with the track Blobby . Edberg in heat 12 was an utter disgrace , if you're going to give up - pull over to the side , all the riders had to go wide entering the 3rd bend to avoid him touring round , not clever . Cracking racing and a tight match , i'm sure anyone without an axe to grind went home happy . Did you get your free Tigers scarf Blobs ?

Must be able to use a guest for an assessed averaged rider , or we wouldn't be doing it . Anyway that adds a wee bit more interest to today's meeting , as Garrity is certainly an exciting young talent . Though it is a surprising choice considering we face Rye House in the KO Cup in a couple of weeks , but if it swings today's meeting in our favour then we wont bother about that .
