Is Aaron Fox on a work permit? If he is, should he really be allowed back into British Speedway in 2015 on anything less than a 5.00 average? - his work permit average. All the best Rob

Regarding Stefan Danno: He failed the breath test for the GP held at Bydgoszcz on September 23th, 2000 (the one where Mark Loram secured the World title). And then there's this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/speedway/3004173/Speedway-Eastbourne-seeking-Screen-replacement.html "One candidate is already on Eastbourne's books: Stefan Danno, the Swede whose international ban for failing an alcohol test expires at the end of next month [May 2001]. Cook, however, has ruled out a move for Tomasz Gollob, Ipswich's Polish grand prix rider who has remained in his homeland this season." So it was 8 months between offence and being able to ride again. All the best Rob
-
I think he was initially suspended from riding for 30 days, before the proper hearing was heard. It was late May 2001 when he was allowed to ride again, though, so it was 8 months after the offence. All the best Rob

Peterborough Panthers 2014

I notice the "Peterborough Three" are still as barmy as they were 5 or 6 years ago on the Weird World... glad some things never change. All the best Rob -
From late September to late May... he failed the breath test before the final GP of 2000. All the best Rob

I think 8 months is sufficient and also it is the precedent set with Stefan Danno. It is a punishment - it rules out any chance of him finishiing in top 8 this year, because I doubt if the FIM/BSI would give a 2015 wildcard to a banned rider. And if Darcy is not in the 2015 GP series, I can't see Monster backing him next season. So he loses the GP and a major sponsor. At the same time, it would allow him to do what he does best from mid-next-April - riding a speedway bike. All the best Rob

I think it's been mentioned already, but I also checked the length of Stefan Danno's ban... it was 8 months. Would ban Darcy to around mid-April 2015.... that seems around the right punishment to me. It is a real punishment, but would leave the door open for, hopefully, a wiser Darcy Ward to return next year. All the best Rob

Er, the Grand Prix rounds are on... Eurosport. Why would the FIM/BSI give two hoots about a broadcaster who doesn't show their product. Have you been on the same stuff as Darcy? All the best Rob

Precedent was set with Stefan Danno - he was chucked out of the series. All the best Rob

Can't see a thread for this afternoon's double header, so thought I'd better start one. Mildenhall face Cradley Heath first, before the main action of the afternoon/ early evening.... Mildenhall vs Scunthorpe Stags. I guess the Mildenhall vs Cradley Heath clash is a bit like a starter to the main course. All the best Rob

Riga Gp Tickets 2014
lucifer sam replied to James 12345's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I still don't think that's good enough for the people who have travelled out there to watch the meeting and can't make tomorrow's re-staging. Will the local promotion and/or BSI be refunding their travelling costs - anyone living outside Latvia, should be refunded the ticket value plus their travelling expenses. Surely BSI had someone in regular contact with the local promotion, to check how things were progressing? If not, why not. I accept things occasionally going wrong within British Speedway, because it is run on a shoestring. On the other hand, the GPs are big business. They are international, attract fans from all over the globe, and have international television coverage. I don't think it's too much to expect these to be run professionally. Given the amount of track equipment available, only heavy rain during the actual time of the meeting should be able to call a Grand Prix off. I've seen this at first hand, when I travelled to Malilla; it rained heavily leading up to start time, but using the equipment, they were able to get the meeting on. That's how it should be. On this occasion, the track appears to be the main problem, otherwise the re-staging would be Riga tomorrow, not Daugavpils. The whole thing smacks of amateurism. All the best Rob- 308 replies

Heads should roll... anyone employed doing that track should not be employed by BSI again. It's clearly not the weather that is the main factor: if it was, then the restaging would be in Riga tomorrow, not Daugavpils. All the best Rob -
SCORPIONS BACK TO FULL STRENGTH FOR LOCAL DERBY FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions are set to track their full 1-to-7 for the first time in over a month, when they tackle local rivals Sheffield Tigers in Premier League action at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday, 7.30pm). Dane Thomas Jorgensen, who would have missed last weekend’s rained off meetings at Scunthorpe and Workington due to a chest infection, should be fit to take his place, while recent appendicitis victim Josh Auty will ride for the Scorpions for the first time since Sheffield were last in town on July 9th. With last night’s Sheffield vs Edinburgh match falling to the weather, tonight is the first chance for Sheffield fans to see new signing, Argentinean Nico Covatti, in action for the Tigers. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I think we’re in for a terrific match tonight. Sheffield No 1 Simon Stead flies around here, and the clashes between him and our lads will be worth the admission money alone. “We’re hoping that the Tigers’ fans will make the short journey up to the Eddie Wright Raceway. It’s their first chance to see Nico Covatti riding for them. “For the first team in a few weeks, the weather looks favourable for us, so it should be all systems go for a cracking local derby.” Admission prices for tonight: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for tonight: FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Somerset Cases Rebels V Edinbourgh 13/8/14

They were at Wolves on Monday for starters, and I was there despite us finishing a distant fourth. And I posted on the forum afterwards – I didn’t go into hiding. As for the “troll” comment, well now the Monarchs fans have lost their smugness, is this what comes next, the insults? All the best Rob -
