  1. Here's what Masters has to say: http://www.theherald.com.au/story/3449048/sam-masters-why-i-had-to-fight/ I think Masters was a bit daft to be provoked that easily, but he is something of a hot-head. Meanwhile, I don't understand all the Greg hate on this thread, starting with the opening post. Certain Nicki fans would be throwing their toys out if that sort of hatred was directed towards Nicki. So why is it OK with Greg? Especially considering what a nice chap that Greg is. All the best Rob
  2. It’s the Posa example which keeps me wondering exactly how long Greg could continue. If he manages to keep himself in shape, it’s not unreasonable that Greg could still be riding in five years’ time. It might be tough beyond that, because conventional speedway has more world class participants than its Ice Racing counterpart, in which the Russian Championship is probably tougher to win that the World Championship. Typically half the field in the Ice Racing Grand Prix are making up the numbers. All the best Rob
  3. Gemini, Eastbourne dropped their combined averages by over a point yesterday. All the best Rob You can't treat the public as daft. They have got eyes. Spiller was particularly blatant. All the best Rob
  4. Hi Neil, Sorry - have now cleared space in my inbox - it was full. All the best Rob
  5. Second meeting was definitely the better of the two. Eastbourne were very disappointing, and it was clear that several of their riders were on a mission to reduce their averages. Daniel Spiller was particularly blatant about it. All the best Rob PS Disappointed not to have a programme to fill in - tried everywhere before the meeting, the kiosk, the track shop, the pit gate (couldn't try the office because it was locked up), but no luck. Not even any photocopies available. I could understand it, if there was a huge crowd, but there wasn't.
  6. May travel over for this. Can someone confirm that the Coventry track is fine today, after the heavy rain yesterday? All the best Rob
  7. I would've liked to have got up there as well. Funny to see the Monarchs' fans getting in the excuses already, despite the fact that Summers has been the in-form Tiger. Come on Theo, lots of points tonight please. All the best Rob
  8. Well done Glasgow. Hopefully both clubs can attract huge crowds for the all-Scottish final. All the best Rob
  9. Date for Glasgow vs Somerset only agreed AFTER Jensen already had his Polish commitment. That's the difference. All the best Rob
  10. Tee-hee-hee! Thanks KJ for making the Monarchs' threads worthwhile reading again. All the best Rob
  11. I think Nick might be a trump card over the next few meetings, though. He has a habit of being able to produce when he really needs to. Especially when it comes to Premier League play-offs! I think the clash is completely in the balance, and that the team who wins has an excellent chance in the final. All the best Rob
  12. Facilities tend to be available these days mate, if the rider already had a meeting at the time that the meeting was arranged. Somerset have replaced one trump card at reserve with another. The Glasgow management would have done exactly the same; just as they strengthened up by using Covatti for Sarjeant earlier in the year. All the best Rob
  13. Congratulations Ryan on retaining the title. Here's hoping for a NL track somewhere around or near Scotland, to give both yourself and other riders up that way a better chance to develop. All the best Rob
  14. Speedway hasn't changed nearly enough, that's the problem. That's why over 50% of crowds are old fuddy-duddies. All the best Rob
  15. No they didn't. They were no play-offs in 2011. They came back in, in 2012, because 2011 was a very boring league competition where Glasgow were runaway winners, and the competition was effectively over by June. 2012, 2013 and 2014 have all seen dramatic play-off finals. That's why they are in the Premier League. Stop using Sky as a smokescreen. They have no say whether the Premier League has play-offs. That's decided by the clubs and promoters. They chose play-offs, because it's good business. All the best Rob
  16. TWK, I wish speedway was something on the level of popularity of the Football Premier League. We're not. If you look at other sports, such as Rugby and Ice Hockey, etc, etc, they all have Play-Offs too. As for being dictated to by Sky, really???? How come there's play-offs in our Premier League then? I must have missed the Sky TV coverage for these play-offs. Maybe there are play-offs because the clubs and promoters want them, because they recognise their value? Money-spinning meetings that bring in much needed revenue. I think anyone sensible would want those. All the best Rob
  17. Yet another great play-off final. They are here to stay. All the best Rob
  18. Just spent 5 minutes or so putting together this list: Adam Ellis Zach Wajknecht Tom Perry Sam Chapman Liam Carr Ryan Blacklock Dan Greenwood Darryl Ritchings Martin Knuckey Max Clegg Matt Williamson Ellis Perks Nathan Greaves Arron Mogridge Bradley Wilson-Dean Ben Hopwood Marc Owen Daniel Spiller Ben Morley James Shanes Danny Ayres Aaron Baseby Tom Stokes Shane Hazelden Jake Knight Josh Bailey Danny Halsey Connor Mountain Kyle Hughes Luke Priest Luke Chessell Brendan Johnson Lee Payne Danny Phillips Oliver Greenwood I’ve probably missed a few names as well. I think there’s plenty of riders for a draft system. All the best Rob
  19. Given how Riss performed at the OTA last time around, the Monarchs have to be major favourites to win this. It will be interesting to see if Somerset can upset the applecart and defeat the favourites. All the best Rob
  20. Ah, I see, so Plymouth using a 28-day-facility for Fisher is totally different than Scunny using a 28-day-facility for Theo Pijper. OK, Lewy, if you say so. Where's your so-called principles now? I believe you called Scunny "cheats" for using a 28-day-facility for Theo. Are Plymouth now also "cheats", Lewy... or are your principles selective by team? All the best Rob PS Still looks like an intriguing tie to me. Two teams I'd like to see to succeed, so I wish good luck to whoever wins on aggregate.
  21. You may have spoken too early, Lewy. Unless Mr Fisher is going to turn up on Friday after all All the best Rob
  22. The Swindon website now also confirms the above is complete and utter nonsense. All the best Rob
  23. While I'd welcome speedway back at Oxford next season, I highly suspect you're talking out of your bottom. All the best Rob
