Absolutely, and the reason one league doesn’t/Wouldn't work. The business models across the board are vastly different. Having said that, I’d put Poole in the Premiership category with a positive in most of those things you mentioned. We all had it rammed down our throats for years that Poole had the best attendances, the best sponsors, therefore the “turbo twins” and the best riders. What changed? Have you no longer got the same level of sponsors you used to have? Or do the Ford’s no longer have the same drive and ambition as they used to have and are now happy to top up their pension fund in a lower tier? Not a criticism of them by the way, their business up to them what they do with it.

Coleman pretty much admits by the way that they couldn’t/wouldn’t offer Belle Vue a double header due to FIM pressure and that seems to be the dealbreaker from a Belle Vue perspective. They can’t agree terms for a single event.

TBF although riders have mechanics, most riders are still hands on in the pits and are far too busy on their equipment than watching the other races and keeping tabs on the exact score. I don’t believe riders don’t want to win things with their club either.

This made me think we’re coming up to a year since our happiest hour for many a year, quickly followed by our darkest when we headed in to the winter not knowing whether we even had our club to support anymore. This time around, we go in to the dark winter months knowing we’re in very safe hands, WILL be coming to tapes next March, having our track upgraded, a GP to look forward to, and the promise of a much more competitive team in 27. Been a whirlwind 12 months and a huge rollercoaster of emotions, but bring on 27.

Hopefully! Even with some kind of safety net so that if it doesn’t work out, they lose too much money or the crowds suffer because of the loss of local derbies etc etc, then give them those assurances that they can drop again similar to Oxford. At least give it a ‘kin go! The set up there is tailor-made for top flight Speedway.

With that attitude it certainly will be. There are however, people who still believe in the product (Richard Coleman the latest) who are trying hard to pull the sport up by its bootstraps and get it upwardly mobile. Your club and others like it, may well be happy with their slippers on, reduce costs annually and see the sport descend even further in to the abyss as an amateur sport in front of a couple of hundred people. Mr Campbell and the rest of the OAP dinosaurs are entitled to have that mindset. Others, like the mentioned Coleman and Mark Lemon, would prefer to at least try and get the top tier moving back upwards as a serious sport. You may think they’re wasting their time, but they obviously don’t so let them get on with it. Enjoy your thriving product in the lower league.

I agree actually about the double header back to back on consecutive days. The second one seemed a bit flat for everyone compared to the first and I think it was too much too quickly.

What about Mondays? The football season finishes in May and Bournemouth will no doubt be knocked out of European competition by the time the Speedway season starts in April. Stop making poor excuses, put your big boy pants back on and start behaving like a big club again and show some ambition.

Sorry I just don’t get it. We’re talking about 24 hours moving from one midweek day to another. What is so special about the day Wednesday down in Poole Lisa? Our race night is Thursdays and we’ve been Thursdays since the dinosaurs were roaming earth. If circumstances meant we had to change to a Wednesday evening instead, yeah it would seem a little strange at first but we’d soon get used to it. I certainly wouldn’t huff and puff and refuse to go because it’s no longer being held on my favourite day of the week! I can’t imagine any supporter doing that to be perfectly honest it’s all a bit nuts. As I’ve said I understand more if you’re a weekend track and take the family but wouldn’t then fancy taking them on a school night. That’s a much bigger change and I’d get people’s hesitation. But Wednesday to a Thursday? Nah.

Of course! And why not two separate TV deals? One main that provides live meetings like we’ve seen in the past from TNT, and a separate highlights package (ITV?) with a weekly round up show like some have been suggesting. It has to be encouraging that there’s two deals being worked on simultaneously right? Coleman at least sounded confident that the one he’s working on was “relatively close”. If neither party can get one over the line then that’ll be extremely disappointing.

There was always a mini bus that took people to and from Foxhall on Thursday evenings that picked up at the Old Cattle Market in town centre. I fully expect they’ll do something similar for this

Coleman says he’s “relatively close” to doing a TV deal off his own back. Morris and the others working on a different one. My money is on Coleman actually getting something done there but either way, between all of them it sounds more likely than not that we’ll get a TV deal of some description which is good news. Hopefully that gets confirmed sooner rather than later because as you say, that will have a knock on effect of how strong the league can be and what riders teams can afford to sign.

I was going to suggest camping Mike. The track and car park is surrounded by woodland so perfect opportunity to have an adventure! Forget the hotels. Park up for the SGP 2 on the Friday, stay on site after the meeting, shove up ya tent in the woods and get cooking on ya portable bbq!

I get ya, but it’s so difficult not to root for him cos he’s such a lovely lad. Part of his problem is he’s TOO nice, and that translates on track. He’s too obliging when letting riders through and lacks the aggression needed at this level.

I don’t really get the race night excuse if I’m honest Lisa. If you’re a weekend track I get the argument more. Weekends, kids off etc etc. But is it really a dealbreaker between Wednesday and Thursday evenings? What difference does 24 hours really make here? It’s still midweek whichever way you slice it!
