  1. We talking one or two home and away in an eight team league?
  2. Not sure I agree mate. One of the biggest complaints on here over the last few years is not enough meetings, and far too stop start with big gaps between fixtures. Many have constantly trotted out the old “people will just find other things to do and lose interest” reasoning for wanting more meetings. Once home and away in an eight team league, gives you only seven home league meetings, plus a couple of cup fixtures between March and September. Thats nowhere near enough IMO.
  3. Ironic really that everyone has been moaning that that kind of rider and excitement has become extinct and it’s now become boring with riders with no character, we get one and people want him chucked out of the sport 😂
  4. Seems to have come through the Nicki Pedersen school of Speedway! People are going to be critical as we’ve already seen on here, but he makes you tune in and makes you want to watch him race.
  5. Bit of an old wet wipe is Olly. Probably doesn’t like his aggressive riding.
  6. As a spectator I love to see it, but yeah I wouldn’t personally like to be in a race with him if I’m honest 😬
  7. Reluctant to say naughty from Woryna, but was certainly hard on Kurtz!
  8. That’s simply because of the restrictive points limit due to the majority of clubs not being able to afford anything else. Remove these restrictions and there’s a couple of clubs that could probably afford to compete in the Ekstraliga. Maybe. All hypothetical as I can’t see that happening in a million years.
  9. They’d still have to do twice home and away IMO otherwise we’d have even less meetings than we do now. We currently have 10 home league meetings, a league of 8 teams once home and away would give you just 7 home league meetings. What else would you fill the season with to have the “home meetings at the minimum every other week” that you mention? Eight team league, twice home and away giving you 14 home league fixtures plus the KOC fixtures would help plug some of the annoying gaps in fixtures that we currently have. KOC could continue the same format as this year. Two groups of four instead of three in a north/south split, giving a guaranteed three home cup fixtures in the group stage, group winners meet in final. 17 guaranteed home fixtures in total. Sounds much better to me.
  10. Now this really does deserve a whinge and has been one of my biggest bugbears for many years. It’s a problem across the board unfortunately not just Kings Lynn. Some are better than others, but not by much. It just shows a complete disregard for your paying customers and is extremely lazy.
  11. I know it’s in vogue on here these days to have the “end of the world is nigh” attitude, but even I have to admit the doomsday prediction that it’s gonna be exactly the same as last year because nothing has leaked on next year by the beginning of August, is a bit of a stretch. Come on chaps rein it in a bit 😂
  12. Louis by all accounts rejected a couple of proposals for Ipswich before going with Mayfield so there are people out there willing to take over clubs. One of Ipswich’ suitors was allegedly Phil Morris along with a couple of others forming a consortium. Fingers crossed there’ll be options for Sheffield IF the Bates’ decide to walk away which we don’t know yet. They’ve known for a while now what they’d ideally like to do, so the best scenario is that they’ve had the time now to find the investment and/or people to take over the club. They’re suffering crowd wise a little at the moment mainly because they’ve lost their star man who helps to bring in the punters.
  13. Indeed. One thing I will say, is if we now have far better contacts and ability to entice new top riders over, then that’s exactly what we should do instead of taking the easier route and throwing a few extra quid at one or two of the small pool of top riders we’ve already got here. There isn’t that many that you’d call world class riders over here at present, so if we can bring our own in and add to that number rather than pinch someone else’s, then that’s better for the league as a whole. More clubs would get a good number 1, and more world class riders over here to add to what we already have would make the league more attractive and increase the chances of securing a new TV deal.
  14. Coleman wants to put bums on seats next year. The hope is to bring back those that have drifted away this year due to losing Doyle and Emil in particular, and even add to the numbers we were getting the last few years. The ambition is certainly there and the two names he mentioned to me personally last week certainly outlines that. Sometimes you run in to people who have all the talk and then just don’t deliver. We’ve seen and heard many of those over the years! This fella though, doesn’t strike me as one of those. BUT, the proof of the pudding and all that. Just have to wait and see if those plans come to fruition.
  15. Siggy was my childhood idol. Can vividly remember crying all day long when he was forced to retire through his ankle injury! Was a serious threat to the Danish dominance of the 80’s before that incident. Beaten Nielsen in the run off of the most lucrative meeting ever allegedly at the time, the British Open in 82 which was the standard of the world final itself, then topped the British League averages on 10.99 in 83 and was on an upward trajectory. Then came that accident in 84 that cut his career stone dead. We’ll obviously never know for sure but I’m convinced he would have stopped Nielsen and Gundersen from dominating the world Championship between them in the 80’s.
  16. Link to the interview Bagpuss was referring to. Really good listen.
  17. I’m not really sure you can change too much re the surface because of the clay content and the stocks? The conditions Dan was talking about was due to them buggering about with the track because of Dicksons demands despite him being told by those that actually know about track prep, that it would make things much worse. Perhaps they’ll look again at uprooting the drains and lowering the inside to create artificial banking that Louis was going to do before he shelved the idea due to costs involved. Who knows. They need to try something because for whatever reason, the track has gotten worse this year and the entertainment almost non existent. It’s never been the NSS, but it’s been better than this.
  18. Was my initial thought too 😂
  19. The club working very closely with Poland and taking advice on how to improve the track. Reps from Poland due in Uk soon to evaluate what can and can’t be done to improve racing. Finance not an issue.
  20. That team total will significantly rise if a couple of people get their way. They’ll probably have to settle on a compromise, but I’d expect a 37 total for a top six to rise either way. You could probably fit another assessed rider on a 5.00 instead of KJP 😉
  21. Feel a bit bad for the lad for saying it because he’s been down in the dumps over his form this year but from a selfish point of view we could do with Tom staying at 1 and continuing to drop his average. They’re fully aware not to allow another club to benefit from a poor year here with us. The plan is to retain him and slot him in the middle order. Brennan may have other ideas obviously so it’ll be down to him but they definitely want to keep him next year so we’ll have to wait and see what Tom wants to do. Doyle Woryna Brennan Would be my best guess as a top three as it stands unless a certain other Pole decides to give UK a bash 😁 Rules at the AGM permitting. Anyway, that’s all for a 2027 thread. Well done to Leicester on getting one hand on the trophy. Can’t argue at all really, they rode well which they always seem to do here!
