Wasn’t “legal”, mainly due to height allegedly. Oh, and we could be looking at another couple of weeks yet. No joke. A well regarded poster on here was down at the track yesterday removing an air conditioning unit as they’re due to get a brand new VIP box. Pushed for a few answers, and although they stopped short of naming them, said new prospective owners were a “sports entertainment company”. Think we all know who that is.
-
New air fence is needed so that’s 20k plus for the new owner right off the bat. Apparently the current air fence shouldn’t have been used last year!

Every track in the top flight will take a hit on the attendances they’ve had previously I think that’s a given. It’ll be interesting to see how much of a hit though. The one team that I can see getting away with it to a degree, is Lynn. They now have the top rider in the league which they haven’t had for an awful long time, and the two young lads at reserve should pique their interest. The league set up will please nobody though and it’s been an incredibly damaging winter that has left a bad taste in the mouth that’s for sure.

Perhaps Becker is giving UK a miss, same as Rew. Only two there that I’m confident will be in the line up, are Brennan and King.
-
Pretty sure King will be there. Godfrey said on the podcast last week that King had been quite vocal about the fact he wouldn’t do one league, and needed two leagues otherwise he’d retire. So he has two clubs he could have signed for. The latest podcast this week, name dropped Riss, Wright, Kerr and Lawson in at Northampton. Nobody else so far. King will be at Ipswich. Louis probably done his mate one last favour before buggering off.
-
Little difference. I don’t think it’ll happen either but Lambert on 8.00 would be a far better signing than say Fricke on 9.89. Not saying Fricke is a poor signing by Lynn either btw. Just there’s far more scope for an average increase in Lambert’s figure than Fricke’s and that’s the name of the game.
-
You’ve missed out King.

Louis was on Wayne Bavin’s breakfast show on Radio Suffolk days after that update on the official site you’ve just mentioned, where he allegedly said he hopes to name the new owners within two weeks. There’s a brief transcript on the BBC website somewhere from that interview, where it isn’t printed that he actually said “within two weeks”, which is where the confusion came from. But they’ve quoted him as saying that.
-
If he was interested in riding over here, you’d have thought he’d have contacted Lynn first, and they’d have gone with him over Fricke. Anything is possible I suppose.
-
But he hates us. He said so on the official press release when “legend” Louis tried to flog us to that charlatan a few years ago!!! 🙄
-
Those two posts sound similar and point to the same issue, but that throws up a red flag for me. Waiting on signing one rider for one season before pushing the button on buying a whole Speedway club, shouldn’t be a deal breaker should it? Hardly screams long term commitment does it??
-
No. And he clearly no longer wants any involvement. It’s a sale, or no speedway.

There’ll be season tickets and they’ll be discounted. How many actually gets sold is anyone’s guess. My guess is nowhere near as many as last year! I’ve had a pop before about this forum being full of miserable b@stards and everyone being glass half empty and seemingly whinging about anything and everything. But I’m now a fully paid up member. I’m bored to tears with it all and I’ve got to the point where I’m not all that bothered whether we run or not. They need to put all their efforts in to Northampton to get a fifth team running, let them sign the riders earmarked for Ipswich and let them crack on with it. Absolutely desperate stuff all round. They need to make sure they have a cunning plan for 2027 because another winter like this would practically kill it all off stone dead.
-
Very much doubt it. The Star wouldn’t get that exclusive before the official Ipswich socials.
-
Depends how they’ll sit financially I guess.

I’m not sure that’s correct Phil. The BSPL can’t just take over and run it without Chris Louis’ agreement can they? And I’m not convinced the rest of the BSPL are in Louis’ good books at the moment! Think he’d rather close it down than help them run their league..
-
To add, when selling a business and it’s gets to the due diligence process and legal teams get involved in drawing up the contracts, that’s then something Chris Louis can’t control. He may have been a little naive in putting a timescale out there for a completion, but to be fair to him we were all crying out for an update (me included) and to be kept informed, so he was kind of in between a rock and a hard place. Now that timescale has elapsed though, as I said he’s going to have to issue a further update sometime this week really with the latest developments or non developments. Well he doesn’t HAVE to, but it would be the right thing to do IMO. The supporters are sitting and waiting for news now on a daily basis.
-
Not feasible is it? If things have gone t!ts up with the sale then that’s surely curtains for the League this year unless Louis has a change of heart and runs it for another year. a hastily cobbled together team of misfits at Northampton, to get the fifth team involved for everyone else to pump every week would appeal to nobody. As hard as it is, just have to be patient that little bit longer, and I’m talking days not weeks. Let’s see if we get positive news sometime this week. The two week deadline for confirmation has only just arrived tbf but the longer this now goes without a further update, the more ominous it’s going to look.
-
A little over six weeks until the season curtain raiser. No fixture list, no season tickets sold. A further update of some sort simply has to come by the end of this week whether that be good news or bad.
-
-
I’ll be concerned if we get to the end of next week with no announcement, that’s for sure. Fingers crossed we get positive news early next week.
-
You’d think we’ll hear something this coming week at some point, one way or the other! The “within two weeks” timeline from Louis expires this coming Tuesday.. Think we’re fortunate in a way that the BSPL are desperate for us to run! If Oxford and Birmingham we still coming to the Premiership tapes, I’m convinced we’d have been given a deadline to confirm our participation, and that would have now expired! Got to feel for all the others who are sitting and waiting for Louis, so they can get their fixtures and season tickets on sale.

I thought that a while back but didn’t wanna be seen as ruffling a few Belle Vue feathers 😂 Perhaps there’s an agreement between all parties including Brady himself, that IF Northampton joined the party, he’d go there to give them the star name to start off with, otherwise if it didn’t come off he’d stay at Belle Vue. Could explain why Brady hasn’t been announced, and why they’ve held two places back until they know how many points left they’ll have to play with. Could be way off of course and he signed ages ago and they’re just dragging the announcement out!

Sorry, didn’t read this before I posted!
