I’ve seen two people on here now come out with “Leicester will win it and they’ll deserve it” and it’s fried my brain. Neither have come back with any reasoning behind that statement. They COULD win it, of course they could. So could any of the other three because speedway can be unpredictable and lots of weird and wonderful things can happen over two legged meetings. But I’m struggling to understand how anyone can currently say that the second placed team, who have lost out on aggregate twice already against the top placed team (isn’t that a shocker?) are going to win it and deserve to. Sorry that’s b0llocks.

Eh? That’s absolutely nuts. We’ve taken the aggregate bonus off them in both rounds of fixtures, the second round overwhelmingly so, and we’ll finish above them in the league. But they’ll suddenly beat us over two legs in a final (if we both get there), and they’ll also deserve it? Put the crack pipe down.
-
Why? Appreciate we all have opinions, just interested in your reasoning for this. Belle Vue are simply not as good and by a margin. Of course it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that they’d win over two legs, but it will be an upset and against all logical reasoning if they did so with two full strength teams. If Ipswich lose to Belle Vue in the semi final and we are at full strength, then we’ve choked IMO and failed badly as a team.

They haven’t, Paul. It’s been said that a lot of the passes at the NSS are “unimpressive” and can be spotted a mile off, but I’ve never seen anyone here say that there are “too many passes at the NSS”. You’re completely making that up.
-
Absolutely NOBODY has said that.
-
Yes thought that was a bit rich!

You beat me to it. Morris has publicly admitted it was a mistake and that mistake would not happen again. Absolutely no chance it’s anything other than 1st v 4th, and 2nd v 3rd. Still meetings to be raced, but looks likely it’ll be Ipswich v Belle Vue, and Leicester v Sheffield in the Semi’s.

And they had to move quickly when he became available before he got snapped up elsewhere and then left us in a vulnerable position at number 7.
-
Should be a routine three points but then again, I thought we’d comfortably overturn a six point deficit to dump Lynn out of the Cup and that never happened. 46-44 will do.
-
As has been said, 1st meets 4th, second v third. (Unless commercial reasons come in to play 🙄). Nobody picks anybody anymore. Pretty sure we’ll finish top. Can afford defeats at Sheffield and Leicester and still finish top by winning our remaining home fixtures. But as we know, that counts for nothing. Barring an 18/20 point defeat at Leicester in our upcoming fixture, we’d have taken the aggregate bonus in both rounds of fixtures against them this year. But again, that counts for nothing and the only two legged affair that counts is next month in the play offs. If we can get there injury free, I remain confident we’ll see the job through.

TBF they weren’t entirely sure when Jenkins was going to return and they gave Edwards a 28 day deal. They’re not the sort to go back on that so Edwards (rightly IMO) will get the full 28 days.

Stop taking the bait.

Ipswich Witches vs Oxford Spires Thursday 7th August
Aries replied to ShanoXtra's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
“It wasn’t our best performance of the year, far from it, and it felt a bit of a slog at times, but we were experimenting with track conditions and overall, it didn’t work. We were battling with that and Oxford came and fought hard, and they will be happy with the two young lads, Luke and Mitch, I thought they put in really creditable performances and that is pleasing for them. It was one of those nights where we had to battle but we got another three points on the board, and we move on and come back for a tougher test next week. “We have had a few different conditions at Ipswich, and we are just trying to find out what is best for everyone and what everyone is happy with. It is a good time to do it but overall, it wasn’t brilliant and didn’t provide great racing and that is one thing we want to do. We will learn from it and have another crack at it next week and see if we can get the balance to get everything correct. Fair assessment from Hawkins there. -

Absolutely does and it really suits his style. The higher banking work done during the winter especially around bends 3 and 4, has become more and more evident as the season has gone on. Ellis has made up huge ground on those in front of him by taking that outside route. -
All a bit irrelevant against Belle Vue really. The name of the game here was just to make a decent fist of it because the aggregate bonus would be bagged at Foxhall. In the plays offs if the two clubs meet at any stage, I’m confident of beating Belle Vue over two legs if we stay injury free. Leicester still the bigger danger currently but have they peaked a bit early?

Ah Sheffield doing the old Hokey Cokey just before the cut off eh. As sure as night follows day.
