  1. Thoughts from a Wolves fan.... After another wasted journey, following Somerset (a) rain-off last Wednesday, we stopped in a Pub just of the A14 and discussed the strong possibility of a 'dreaded' double-header next Wednesday. Our ideas for getting the 30 heats run efficiently included:- 1) Moving the starting gate to the other side as it shortens the distance from pits to tapes. 2) Reducing the 2 min time warning to 1 minute. Both teams to agree: Clerk of the course to do his job! * saves 30 mins on the night. 3) First race starts promptly at advertised time. 4) Frank Ebdon as referee. 5) Back-up Medical cover 6) Limited on-track tractor time. 7) Riders to get to the tapes and stay there! 8) Heat 15 line-up to be sorted before heat 14 finishes. ** Team Managers to 'gee;' their riders up. 9) Wolves not to use Sarjeant as a guest! ... yes the 'Church End' beer was good. See you next week for "Midnight In Norfolk".
  2. Zdenek Kudrna: As a Wolves fan I was always amazed to see him turn up at Birmingham Speedway in his Austin Allegro with a bike rack on the back; knowing he had driven from Czecho overnight. I would have been frightened to cover the distance from my home to Perry Barr in an Allegro in that condition. Fair play to him! Sam Tesar: The only speedway rider to have the same nickname as the track lighting at where he rode..... Peterborough - "The Dark Shadow".
  3. Swindon v Leicester: A & B fixtures 12 days apart. It gets worse next week.... King's Lynn v Wolves: A & B fixtures are 9 days apart! It's a good job Premiership doesn't ride on Fridays or the fixtures could be cancelled completely. .
  4. Would have preferred Rufus T. Firefly!
  5. Does Torquay plans include greyhound track and a speedway circuit?
  6. ...... and "'Brum" takes the bait..... everytime. It makes looking at any Wolves topic not worth the effort. Well done lads. Sad times.'
  7. C'mon Fred surely Brum is laughing at your #1 dropping his average so he can drop down a division?
  8. Correct - but sadly the old style No:8's are already occupying the #6 & #7 berths.
  9. Hi folks, any recommendations for a Pub local to the track that does good food and beer prior to the meeting? Thanks
  10. It's a good job we kept the first leg score close at Belle Vue!
  11. Perhaps the word "Fan" is missing from the title?
  12. Perhaps it's rider replacement for Woryna at #2 with Woryna at reserve and then naming Woryna at #8 to avoid confusion??
  13. Is it time to drop down a league and go back to Saturday nights then?
  14. Whoops - shows how long it's been since the team was announced and actually seeing Wolves ride!
  15. I would expect Jacob to be the top five. He should finish with a higher average than Morris & Clegg!
  16. Will the 300 kids Easter Eggs survive in the hot weather till next weeks meeting?
  17. Is it green shale to celebrate St. Patrick's Day?
  18. No Freddie is a massive blow. Poor results early on could have an impact on the crowd. Interesting that Ipswich have declared Schlein & Heeps as a pairing. If we do the same then whats the difference between Premiership & Championship - admission prices???
  19. Too true. any Brit should have his average reduced by one point / month until he is employed.
  20. If I was Holder and reading this I would be tempted to:- 1) Give up drinking? 2) Take up drinking? 3) Sign for Poole?
  21. Re statement from Gambo above.. Even, as a Wolves supporter I wanted to win the lottery and build a speedway track next to the home of the chairman of Barrets that stuffed Cradley.. Looks like Monaco needs a speedway track also! My father used a quote that made me think.... Who is the biggest thief... He who steals the goose from the common, or, he who steals the common from the goose? Thankfully the honey from the Bee always stays alive - get the track back. Keep fighting.
  22. Beer talking folks - in the seventies I averaged five & a half meetings a week - easy with Wolves on Friday - Spoons on Sat - Dummies on Monday - Leicester / Ellesmere on Tues - Stoke on Thurs and all Wolves away! Now I struggle to do home & away with Wolves! My immediate thoughts are I hope Freddie was paid well in 2017 and can cope with being unemployed in Britain in 2018. So much for 'loyalty' - both sides of the fence? I'm having a Don McLean moment...... the day that speedway died..... bye bye "Buster's Pie... Captain Smith (Titanic) has a statue in Lichfield Park. The BSPA has sunk deeper - one above the eight & more doubling up - I feel I'm watching Wolverhampton Witches in 2018! x
  23. Looks like £10 speedway has arrived in the Premiership!
