  1. Ronnie Greene's other club Bristol also had a star on their race jackets in the late 1930's.
  2. An extra televised meeting and the revenue it brings in, is probably more important to lakeside than qualifying for the final. I get the impression they run a tight ship at arena and need to balance the books. I was at the meeting last night, and the tricky track conditions definitely hindered the home side. With Jonsson and a consistent surface the hammers might have nicked a narrow home win.
  3. you and me both. I had to get the last 220 bus to get me home, I had school in the morning.
  4. hi Steve, I'm going by my pre war postcard collection. I have several from 1937, prior to that I think the dons rode in a plain red jacket.
  5. i saw it this morning. I thought I was losing my marbles when it disappeared!
  6. I also heard that rumour, but the meeting was being held at a neutral track.
  7. Give or take a year, I think the yellow star was first used by the dons on their race jackets in 1937.
  8. Last night after watching yet another long drawn out meeting at rye house. Tomorrow is another day and I'm already looking forward to going to lakeside v belle vue!
  9. Yet another 'well run' meeting at the launch pad tonight. Multiple re runs, exstensive tractor breaks all added to the 'entertainment' on offer. If the track gets any slicker it would be classed as concrete. Can someone get a grip and sort this fine old club out. Rant over!
  10. With six other NL teams racing today, it must have been near impossible to book guests for this afternoon.
  11. I was at eastie today shads, but it looked well run according to the updates.
  12. It's ok if you live local to the track shads, but hoddesdon is a two hour journey for me. The meetings at rye this season have been run at a snails pace, so getting home at 10.30 on a Sunday evening does very little for me.
  13. So was this event the real farewell to the abbey, if it was, what a low key way to go out. No doubt if the 'new stadium' isn't ready for the start of the 2017 season, el tel can stage yet another farewell meeting next year.
  14. An excellent meeting last night with some great racing. The crowd was very good considering the awful weather in the south east yesterday.
  15. Rain has stopped in south london now. It looks clear on the radar to west.
  16. The main rain band does seem to be breaking up. All is not lost, yet!
  17. With poole signing antonio lindback, I think it would be a good time to rename the EL matt ford's flying circus. It has a good ring to it, don't you think.
