Redcar vs Poole BSN SF 2nd leg 20th May
Yearbyred replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poole scored 48 and 50 on their last 2 visits to Redcar, so still are favourites to go through. If the Bears can win on the night that’ll be a good result. -
Poole Vs Redcar BSN SF 1st leg 17th May

Some of us support more than 1 local team in different sports, mind you maybe I should have stayed at home and watched the stream! Good effort that from an under strength Bears team and much better than I expected. If the Bears can get a decent performing guest on Saturday they have a chance to go through although I still have Poole as favourites given how they ride our track. -

Make that 16 now with R/R in operation. Lawson showing his true colours by riding for the opposition -

Comfortable home win - if the Bears can keep it within 10 it would be respectable. Expect Danny and Charles to score the majority of the points and Poole second strings and reserves to out score their opposite numbers. Would have purchased the stream but there is a reasonably important football game going on and I suspect a few Bears fans will be more focused on that. -
Good to see the Comets back, looks a lovely set up they have got. Best of luck to all involved.

Edinburgh v Redcar Championship 12th May 2023
Yearbyred replied to eide67's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Bears actually made it harder than it could have been - Bailey falling off (bike issues?) in his second ride, a restart when on a 5-1 and Bailey blocking Edwards in Heat 14 to get the Monarchs level in Heat 14, but the superb pairing of King Charles gated and were gone in Heat 15. Better contribution from Hume tonight and Bailey had a good first ride at least. Edwards contributed again and Jake just can’t make a gate to save his life. Monarchs obviously missed Pickering, Cook was ok but expected more and the rest of the team were very hit and miss. Looks like a team that will struggle sadly. Excellent stream as always from Edinburgh. -

Mulford hasn’t contributed much either! Agree though, Bears need their middle order riders to stop racking up lots of last places in order for them to be competitive away from home. -
Has it been confirmed which team Lawson will ride for in this one Worst draw possible for the Bears (see all points above) but hopefully Riss will be back so at least we can have a full team of our own riders. Mickey Mouse cup anyway* (* I reserve the right to change my mind on this)

Think most Redcar fans didn’t have us as favourites for anything as we knew how well everyone rides our track. Think you could say the same about the Bears, but yes the Brummies put on a good performance tonight and was definitely more encouraging for them. -

Fairly run of the mill meeting but worth the entrance fee to watch King Charles blast around the boards in Heat 15. Bears still have the same issues as previous meetings, but I thought Bailey rode better than Hume , despite scoring less points. Mulford is obviously a concern , he just can’t get out of the gate to give himself a chance. Not many 2 pointers to choose from so I’d stick with him a bit longer. For the Brummies, Sedgmen was superb until the last heat and Bowtell and Pearson rode well. Morris had a disastrous night and if he’d been anywhere near on it the score could have been much different. -

BBC weather was sold off to the highest bidder a few years ago and is now run by a bloke who just looks out his window and takes a guess! About as reliable as a Bears second string! (Only joking lads). At the track now and it’s dry but threatening to rain. Track looks great. Edit: now watering the track but no parade. -

Oxford Vs Redcar (league) 3rd May

They could have done, but they didn't mention him. The comments about Jenkins being part of their plans came directly from the promotion at Redcar when the team was revealed. -

Two wrongs don't make a (W)right or is it too many Cooks? Anyway, sorry for any confusion. -

If it is on, it’s Lawson for Riss and Zach Cook for Wright. -

First time it was mentioned on the match thread, the issue of Jenkins going to Oxford and the circumstances around it have been discussed on other Redcar threads. -

Which is exactly the point that Berry9 raised in his first post. The fact nothing was done is the major bone of contention. This is not the first time this has been raised on the forum, so it’s not just a reaction to the result. I have no insider knowledge on anything but the Redcar promotion made it clear in the Q&A session before the season started that Jenkins would have been part of this years team at Redcar. -

I think we had a lucky escape not being able to watch , not just in the fact the Bears were soundly beaten, but the racing seemed pretty processional, if the updates are to be believed. 3 riders taking 10 rides and scoring 2 points (and not defeating an opposition rider) is very, very poor. Hume scored 13+1 for Glasgow last year at Oxford, so it’s hugely frustrating. Bailey and Hume are less experienced but expected much better. Be glad when Riss is back but you can’t compete with only 4 riders. A very poor start to the league campaign. -

Pity there is no stream as this looks like it could be a decent meeting. -
BERWICK v REDCAR (KO Cup) Saturday, April 1st
Yearbyred replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not much mention of the Bears performance last night, which I can understand given the poor performance by the home team, but Wright and King had a couple of great days and nice to see Hume chipping in with a good score. If we can get Bailey and Mulford going it would be a really strong team. -

Redcar v Scunthorpe BSN fixture
Yearbyred replied to Tosh1218's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well my prediction from earlier was about right, as the Bears second strings were too inconsistent and poor Jake Mulford has yet to score a point at home. Having said that it was pleasing to see the Bears fight back from (another) slow start and actually win the meeting on the night. For Scunthorpe - Douglas and Tofty were good, Allen a bit unlucky not to score more and everyone contributed. They deserved the aggregate point over the 2 matches. Has some good craic with some Scorpions fans on the back straight too. For Redcar - Charles was back to his very best and King rode really well until Heat 15 . Lawson got better as the meeting went on and Edwards scored well. The other 3 lads need to score a few more points but it wasn’t from lack of effort. Seemed like a good crowd too which is good to see.
