British Tv Rights For Sgp & Swc ?
flagrag replied to oleoleole's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I can tell you what will happen here nothing will change to the current arrangements but BT will allow Sky customers access to BTs UHD/4K service which at the minute is exclusive to BT via a Youview box. Sky have been trying for months to get this channel as the new Sky Q box ( Which I can highly recommend ) is out in a few weeks and Sky need more 4K content other than their own output. -
1 Valve - Yes fellow elite league clubs would have been very happy for Leicester to have ran midweek as stated previously they struggle to get their riders to go to Leicester to ride in away fixture. In fact I am told some promotors even encouraged Hemsley to change but NO he would not listen I fear for the future of the club and would not be at all surprised for him to announce that before Christmas that he cannot get a team together as riders won't come on Saturdays and that he is withdrawing from the league for a year
-
Jason gave Leicester every opportunity to sign him up for 2016 and has been straight down the line he told David and Norrie in August that he wanted to return but would not do another season of Saturday nights. Doyle even agreed to do a few Saturday's before Poland & Sweden started but Hemsley would not listen and tried to play the emotional card that he would not be where he is now without his time at Leicester. Anybody who knows or has had dealings with Doyle will know this won't work. I did hear even after the conference he said David are you sure you know what you are doing but the blinkers are firmly on.

Leicester are in big trouble now that they have lost Doyle who along with a number of other riders have said No Thank you to Saturday night racing the club has real problems now as can't see where the No1 and 2 riders are coming from to make the team at least competitive. What I cannot understand is Jason said he would stay if they changed the race night yet Hemsley would not back down yet in 2017 has already been told he can't run on Saturdays as away clubs struggle to get their riders to do the meetings.

Tocha- Four of the listed team are correct Auty,Starke,Wozniak and Walasek providing Poole don't want unreasonable loan fee. The problem being is the top end as I do not see where the top end power is going to come from Leicester could have had the leagues highest averaged rider but would not look at an alternative race night and make the required track changes so now he is off elsewhere unless he had a last minute change of heart. I think one Leicester's best hopes is that they can convince Kazprazak to ride and that he can gain some form

It looks like Bomber is quite in demand for next season with Coventry,Leicester and Belle Vue all showing an interest in him. If Kings Lynn don't get Iverson to return I wouldn't be surprised if they throw their hat into the ring.

British Tv Rights For Sgp & Swc ?
flagrag replied to oleoleole's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just thought I should add as obviously the GP series does not start for another 5 months or so I would suggest at present that people don't make any knee jerk reactions with tv and broadband providers give it a couple of months. I am unable to say too much about this due to legal reasons but Sky will be launching a revolutionary new service and box on 18 th November that will change the whole way that you watch tv in the home and on the go. To counteract Sky's new product I am pretty confident that you will see some deals from BT sport and broadband as they can just not match this new Sky product and with making such big financial commitments to tv rights Eg Champions league,Ashes, premiership football and rugby, moto Gp and Speedway they do need to sign more customers and realise that not all potential customers will switch their phone and broadband. All I can say at present is watch this space as negotiations are still ongoing as Sky want to offer BT sport to their customers on a wholesale basis like they did with ESPN and how Virgin do with BT if this can be agreed the price will drop to probably around £10 a month basis but I also expect that to be discounted if you take all entertainment, sports and movies pack with Sky to be on Par with what BT charge -

Nigel and Kelvin are not on exclusive Sky contracts for commentary so there will not any problems with them doing the world feed that BT will likely use. It would be more of a problem if BT wanted them to present the show or doing a magazine style programme in the week although you may find less references to GP in EL coverage next year. I just hope that BSI have made the right choice for the long term future of the series rather than just looking at the rights income as will now be on a substantially lower viewer basis which UK sponsors may not be so keen to be involved I do know that BT sports adverts are cheaper than Sky's as not so many impressions of your ad -

One of the big downsides I can see from this deal is Cardiff this GP attracts a large amount of armchair viewers for their annual day out these people don't visit tracks but enjoy the GP on TV. Obviously BT sports viewing figures are a lot lower than Sky sports and Eurosport so will these armchair viewers still be interested enough to go Cardiff. With regards to commentators a lot depends on the reports of BT wanting to pick up some league racing if they go the full way and get own comms for that then may do GPs as well if not it will be the world feed for all rounds apart from Cardiff and UK World Cup when Darren Fletcher will step in -

This deal could be a good thing for Speedway fans as I have on good authority that they BT are keen to add some league racing to their schedule as are aware that they need to be able to justify the extra spend for customers. Whether they will take the easier option to take the Swedish league although that clashes with CL football or go after the Polish league with rights now available in the UK -
I am not sure if this is still the case but did hear recently that Sissis may be giving up Speedway again to go back to road racing as has been offered a position in a TT series team doing the IOM and the endurance races
-
Thomsen has made it quite clear that he will not be returning to Peterborough and the Premier league next year as he is riding in Poland Extraliga and there is too many weekend meetings in the PL. I don't think he will go Poole but wouldn't be surprised to see him at Kings Lynn next year
-
The Saturday night racing in the Elite league for Leicester has now become pretty unworkable,it is not just a problem of signing new riders and getting Jason Doyle and Wozniak to stay. Even if the club take the attitude some of here suggest just sign riders who don't care about Poland leaving you little options. There is now a real problem getting clubs to come to Leicester on Saturday nights this season Poole and Swindon refused to come although the latter had to in the end. Lakeside also asked if they could change a Saturday match to midweek due to rider availability. It will have to be Elite league midweek,Bank holiday Mondays and possibly a couple of Saturdays early season,The other option is drop down to the Premier league
-
Kent will run Fridays instead of Lakeside with some riders moving to Central Park and Sky meetings council will give special dispensation for. Swindon will be at Oxford next season unless late U turn by Blunsdon developers and decide to go ahead and just build the Speedway track without the full grandstand and facilities
-
From what I have been told Jason has a deal with another club which is good but will not sign yet until he knows what is going on at Leicester as with all this talk of two midweek race nights this could change initial ideas that Jason has had. If Leicester remain in EL and change to midweek and doesn't decide to return to Wolves I wouldn't be surprised to see Tai at Leicester, He said that if more regular race night he will return and as WC financially it makes sense to maximise your earnings
-
Peter Oakes article confirms nothing Leicester fans did not already know if the Leicester club continue with Saturday nights it will have to be without Doyle and Wozniak due to Poland on a Sunday. With Doyle being a free agent Hemsley told him towards end of the season that he was to continue with Saturdays and will not change the track as suggested so Jason has looked elsewhere for a team spot and done an early deal so not to get left out. The thing is now it looks like Leicester will be forced to run midweek if they continue with EL just as they see the No1 leave whom may have stayed with Mon racing. Unless there is quick progress with new top riders wanting to come to Leicester I think it will be Premier league racing on Saturdays
-
If Coventry are struggling for a guest for the 2nd based on current form I would take a gamble on Anders Thomsen he has got good equipment can gate well and won't do any worse than Lindgren in the first leg
-
Welcome to Cowley Lane Oxford for the 2016 season 😏
-
Leicester logistically and financially was the best option to restage the PL4s as has good home crowds,Leicester rider Sam Masters in the meeting,Centrally located so would pick up from casuals from Cov,Wolves,Peterborough,Birmingham and maybe Sheffield. Leicester also finished early so fans eager for more meetings Also no high stadium hire costs, all volunteer staff so seemed a win win thing. Except Leicesters promotion are not well favoured by BSPA and couldn't agree a staging fee so believe it's Scunthorpe or Kings Lynn now
-
The forecast at the minute is really not very good for Monday if for any reason does anybody know when the restaging date will be ? It's Swedish play offs Tues so imagine it will be Wednesday anything official though ?
-
I believe that Leicester should be in the Elite league with the stadium and support that they have got but some changes have got to be made to try and make the team competitive. Unfortunately it will mean an end to Saturday night racing apart from a few at the start of season before Polish league starts, this I understand is one of the conditions that Jason Doyle may consider returning to Leicester a change of race night as finding it too hectic and some proven support at top end if the team. By changing race night should also help get more riders to come to Leicester in 2016 I know Norrie got the same answer from so many riders when trying to make changes I can't do Saturday nights. The big question is will Mr Hemsley listen to advice he is given, he has made it clear in the press that he doesn't see any reason to change the track at present.

I have just spoke to one of the guys I stand with at Leicester who lives 2 miles from the track he said it rained for most of Sunday and most of the night but the heavy rain started about 9:00am really not sure which way this will go. Usually Leicester holds the water well but the track didn't seem to drain very well last week after the heavy rain on Friday which left bend3 very sticky

Coventry V Lakeside Monday 31st August
flagrag replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I wonder whether AJ will show up on Monday for this meeting as there was reports that Lakeside had told not to come over last week lets wait and see. -
Steve The Lion- If tomorrow does unfortunately get called off due to the weather I am not sure if next Saturday will be an option as its the GP challenge and also the start of the Polish play offs on Sunday so Torun will require Jason Doyle,Chris Holder and Kasper Gomolski to be in Poland on Saturday to prepare and practice as well I'm sure Wroclaw will not want Magic Janowski at Leicester as well. Also Wozniak is likely to be required at Bydgoszcz as well
