  1. That's certainly the case with Ross Brady. An 8 point rider before he suffered a terrible head injury. When we signed him I was optomistic, but he had clearly lost his bottle, shutting off half way down the straights. In hindsight I'm ashamed of how he was treated by some Rockets fans.
  2. Back in the mid 80's when I first watched speedway a second tier heat number 1 would be a reserve in the top tier, that's how strong the BL was then.
  3. I think you'll see Olly in the Rockets side next year
  4. In those days a NL heat leader would be a reserve in the BL. Now EL sides are using PL reserves.
  5. Travelled three times to Somerset to see the Rockets score 26, 28 & 20 points. If we'd been there a fourth time I'd have gone again. I guess that makes me a mug too!
  6. Variety of opponents is the main advantage, but I'd like to see a proper local derby. Our nearest opponents are Ipswich, which is hardly local
  7. One of the few genuine fast trackers who've caught the eye Based on a couple of months at reserve.
  8. Looks like big changes at Rye House. I'm sure more will come out in the coming days/weeks
  9. 1: Running2: No 3: Gawd knows 4: No, but stand by for shock news!!
  10. Silver wants more meetings at Rye House, so an NL team could be a possibility. Probably along the lines of Scunny, but with one or two more experienced riders in the side. Very quiet on the Rockets side. We've usually heard something by now
  11. He was talking about it himself for most of the season. I think he'll be off to Glasgow, but Scunny would be a decent option
  12. No room for Jens Rasmussen, who basically carried the team single handed before Martin Goodwin arrived from Arena Essex
  13. Silver from the early to mid 80's. I caught the end of his last year at Rye House before he went to Arena Essex. Great talent. Could also make a case for Bob Garrad, Kelvin Mullarkey, Marvin Cox and Karl Fiala for inclusion in the best ever Rockets side
  14. Andrew Silver at his best v Chris Neath at his best?
  15. I know that. I saw a photo posted on Facebook with hardly a cloud in the sky. Must've rained a lot overnight
  16. If you count the entire EL & PL as one big squad, then you'll sleep a little easier
  17. I don't know where this myth about the adverse camber at Rye House disappearing came from. It's still there, believe me. Chris is spot on. There is very little home team advantage when you build a weak team. Speedway is very much a confidence sport. If you're on a roll you can believe you can beat anyone. Rye House used to be a track that teams feared, many were beat before a wheel was turned. Edinburgh and Somerset have that reputation now.
