  1. I think B4E will be looking forward to our visit to Owlerton on Thursday. If Rye can win there anyone can!!
  2. Unique to that list though unless someone's put the price up. Glasgow was £2 last time I was there. I think it's only Rye, Leicester & Ipswich on that list that don't charge for parking.
  3. Edinburgh. The only track with it's own micro climate. Also the only one of those named who's track is nowhere near the place they are named after. They are also the only club that charges a "premium" if you don't book online tickets, but doesn't state on their website how much the "premium" is. They are also the only club to charge motorists £2 to park at the stadium.
  4. Booked our hotel via SCB website, same hotel as this year. The hotel website not taking bookings though GP tickets bought too
  5. I've been to Swindon on the Thursday before the GP weekend in 2011 for Steve Johnsons Testimonial & in 2012 for the EL meeting with Poole, both disappointing meetings. This year we gave it a miss, luckily it turns out, as it was rained off
  6. He's getting himself knotts with the spelling of Tie's name Dunno how much I spent this weekend on a top hotel, top price tickets and loads of food and drink, but I can afford it, so what the hell. Some people prefer the cheap option, turn up on the day and buy the cheaper tickets, that's their choice. To me, as a fan of team speedway, the meeting itself is secondary. What's more important is the social aspect of speedway, always has been. Nothing better than meeting up with speedway mates you only see once or twice a year for a good chat and a laugh. This year ranks as one of the best in that aspect, especially Saturday night/Sunday morning in the casino with some drunk mates. That'll live long in the memory.
  7. Kasprzak each way @ 33/1 was one of the best bets of the weekend
  8. Complin gave up speedway because he couldn't make it pay and has a full time job. Still has his bikes though I believe
  9. Cook was first out of turn 2 in his initial ride, but was left lagging down the back straight. Not sure if it was his bike underpowered, or just that he was on the wrong part of the track. Still, an encouraging performance. Auty has never been a gater, and in this sort of company that's gonna get you nowhere.
  10. Regarding the attendance, we've just gotta except that speedway is a minority sport in this country these days. Travel costs pay a huge part too as does the excellent TV coverage. Of course you're gonna get a full house for Wales rugby matches. It's the national sport of Wales with the distance to travel being negligible. Anything approaching 40,000 for the GP is a decent crowd in this day and age
  11. Lot's of speculation about that date. Will make it a little easier to book the cheap uni dorm rooms for those on a tight budget if true
  12. Huge wind up by the riders and officials. Those photos were taken at the start of the week. Tracks fine. You've all been taken in.
  13. In guessing he was born while his dad Stephen was with the Panthers. I don't think Alex has any direct British ancestry. Jason Crump is a similar case, born in Bristol while Crump Snr was with the Wasps. Didn't Alex come into British speedway on a 5 point average? That'd be a clue to his heritage.
  14. Speedway fans love a trier... I'd rather see a bloke trying something different than watch another poodle along the inside line when there's obviously nothing there... Good to read that Adam Kirby had a good afternoon. Shame that Connor Coles is struggling. Really needs to be at reserve it this stage of his development.
  15. You could see he was struggling to put any weight on his right foot when entering the bends. I presume it's the right ankle he broke, or perhaps just his stiff riding style. Clearly not 100%
  16. Track terrible. Dry and dusty, set up nicely for the gating Devils, not for a team of mostly racers which the Rockets are these days. Wells was a great guest, but the meeting was won at reserve, 4-16. Shockers from Lambert & Lykke, Also, two riders returning from injury and another who hasn't ridden competitively at Rye for 4 years to my knowledge. Meetings like this is why I dislike afternoons at Rye when it's not wet. Special mention to Jake Anderson who surprised me with how competitive he was. Thankfully the result was irrelevant. A chance to put things right in the next home meeting, ironically against Plymouth again when it will matter, hopefully on a decent surface. One to forget for us today, but with a lesson having been learned.
  17. Schramm suffers from having poor racing equipment. I'd be interested to see how he goes on decent bikes
  18. Wells in for Proctor http://www.ryehouserockets.co/news.php?extend.584
  19. Were Berwick fined for Belego's absence on Tuesday?
  20. The club and supporters came over brilliantly. A real credit to speedway.
