  1. Definitely WON'T be purchasing any Hawks memorabilia. It was just a general inquiry ... Although I was born less than a couple of miles from Hackney Stadium I only went there for less than half a dozen meetings and only one of those didn't involve the Rockets ... Hackney were the side I most wanted us to beat back in the 80's/90's. I can't recall many instances when we did, but I DO remember them knocking 60+ past us one Sunday afternoon at Hoddesdon while sitting with a couple of Hackney supporting friends ... A VERY painful afternoon
  2. I doubt It'll make me attend any more NL fixtures than I did in 2010 ... I'd have to buy Hawks clothing, programme board etc... Will they be on sale at the Rye House merchandise stall?
  3. Not really ... Rye House and Lakeside have proven track records with excellent promotions, whereas Mildenhall, in recent times, seems to have lurched from one crisis to another ... The Hawks side is no more nomad than Dudley were last season, riding their home fixtures at two different tracks.
  4. This is true, but KP and Trott only came over here for the mega bucks on offer, not because of a yearning to play cricket for England. They could've easily stayed in their homeland and played for the country of their birth.
  5. .... with three South African born players in the side
  6. I was chatting to the other half about this last night ... We saw the rider in question in action at Lakeside last October against a young National League select side and although he was a class above them he didn't look like an EL class rider to me.
  7. A VERY huge job ahead ... Surely a season in the Premier League would be the sensible option?
  8. The site is now an industrial area.
  9. Surely it's better to drop down a level and keep the club alive rather than close down altogether?
  10. Start with the same side you finished with this year ... That should be good for mid table at least!
  11. It's more of an indication that Len Silver is not going to throw money at the Cobras next year perhaps ... Attendances have been very poor this year
  12. That's what we pays our money to see ... Long may that policy continue
  13. I missed the Dream Team at Rye earlier this year, but was thoroughly entertained at Lakeside by the American touring side ... Hopefully a return to Rye House is in the schedule.
  14. Excellent servants to the club and Rye House through and through
  15. Tai wasn't a Rye House asset, but boy, what a couple of years we had out of him ... In a few years time, when young Mr Bjerre is one of the top riders in the world, you can say you had the pleasure of seeing him close up every week, if only for a couple of years. Thank the lord Len Silver had Linus signed up before the EL sides came sniffing around
  16. Don't s'pose you cheered Mark Loram in 2000 either
  17. There were more at press and practice!!
  18. I'm with Blaze on this one ... GP on TV and a nice chicken shish delivered to my door tomorrow I'm gonna be getting my speedway fix at Sheffield on Sunday
  19. Good result for the Cobras ... Didn't expect that
  20. Not been able to post 'cos my PC has been buggered for almost two weeks ... Had to visit a local internet cafe to post this That was one of the most boring afternoons of speedway I've had the misfortune to attend. I can't think of anything positive to say about it ... After years of defending the Rye House track It's pretty clear that it's not able to stand up to 25 heats of speedway ... The track had no water put down on it from when I arrived around mid-day until after the first heat as far as I could see. At other tracks I've attended the track is worked on until around 15 minutes from the start ... Oh, how I'm looking forward to this weekends double header with Newport, or perhaps I'll just stay in and watch the Nordic GP instead!!
  21. I thought I heard Craig announce 11am. I've been looking forward to this meeting since it was announced... Hopefully the track will be in tip top condition, but as anyone who's attended an afternoon meeting at Rye knows, it very rarely is.
  22. Good on him... They're lucky not to be still trying to retrieve it from the cameraman's anus!!! Gollob being allowed to keep his point from the semi final was strange
