  1. Doesn't travel well ..... Gets sick at the thought of flying
  2. Great to see two ex Rockets in the GP Series Good luck to Ed and Tai
  3. You really are quite a cynical so and so ain't ya?? He can't really afford to miss meetings because he is a professional speedway rider... Not much other income apart from his riding... If Adrian could afford to lose income and stil live well.... I think he needs to teach the rest of us something!! So, I'll await to see if there are any apologies forthcoming?? B4E here again.... Getting rather tedious when someone don't sign out your account!!
  4. I'd have thought that the 5pm start time would've put many off staying overnight ..... it appears not!!
  5. We're staying in the Park Inn Nevs, not sure if there are two of them, ours in close to the City centre opposite the Big Sleep ..... Unlimited breakfast is included in the price and I am planning to avail myself of this facility to the extreme!!!!
  6. From what I've heard you may as well sleep in a shop doorway ..... a damn site cheaper and probably cleaner.
  7. That's the fella, been driving me mad all evening ..... cheers for putting me out of my misery
  8. Nah, I stopped going to Arsenal away matches in the early 80's when you could just turn up and pay on the gate.
  9. I don't know how long ago this was taken, but here is the former Long Eaton Stadium from the air on Google Earth Long Eaton Stadium I only went there once, back in 1988 ..... The Rockets won 60-36 that night on a rain sodden track, their only away win all season!!! ..... I stood on the banking with the trains running behind, may have been the 3rd/4th bends, I'm not sure ..... I recall the stadium being in a rather dilapidated state ..... The only Invaders riders I can recall without digging out the programme are Gary O'Hare and the captain who used to ride for Hackney and Milton Keynes who's surname was White, but his first name escapes me!!
  10. I've been watching some of the greyhound racing from Wimbledon tonight and noticed that the base of the speedway track is still in situ, now used by bangers and stocks presumably. Memories drifted back to Wednesday evenings down at Plough Lane during the late 1980's when I'd travel down on the tube from North London to Wimbledon Park, then walk the mile or so to the stadium to see the Rockets get hammered ... That was a scary walk back at 10pm at night I can tell you!! It seems such a waste when you have a facility like that without speedway.
  11. Not a stunning line up, but not a bad one either ..... Some people have paid £65 for next years Cardiff GP tickets, without the guarantee that the racing will be any good. GP Challenge Line Up
  12. B4e was positively ecstatic when the Rye House meeting was called off early, so we could sit in with our Chinese take away to watch the GP ..... The Chinese was great, but the GP was terrible ..... I lost interest half way through (the GP, NOT the Chinese)
  13. I could be home just after midnight after the GP if I drove back, but would have to stay off the booze all day Saturday ..... For me half the fun of GP weekend is the socializing before and after the meeting ..... It's a bit of a rush to get back for the Sunday afternoon meeting at Rye though
  14. The 5pm start time has obviously had little or no effect on hotel bookings then
  15. I thought the whole team did well to keep the programme flowing during the extended break during the rain.
  16. Oh dear, that's gonna upset a few people ..... Not me though, I much preferred the accessibility of the museum site.
  17. A good friend of mine owns and runs this ..... John Frost Newspapers
  18. I'll never forget the World U21 at Rye a couple of years ago Bryn, the one that was almost rained off ..... Your attempt at pronouncing Sayfutdinov had us in stitches!!! Not half as funny as that beard you were sporting at the time though!!!
  19. Bitchin? ..... It's a town around five miles north west of Stevenage, Herts
  20. Revenge at last for that smack in the chops Gollob got from Boyce
  21. Don't get rid of the Joker rule, make it 8 or 10 points behind before using it.
  22. You saved me the trouble of posting that, and on a borrowed bike too!!! Poles got lucky with the inside gates after the rain break too
  23. Unlike Hans Andersen, Lindback owes no favours to anyone and went out to win the race
