  1. The @bikesontnt TwitterX account didn't even mention the opening GP over that weekend. It's hard to be glass half full when you're working with an empty glass.
  2. Or worded it badly 😉 Realistically it's Belle Vue or nowhere for a UK SGP, surely.
  3. Thanks for responding... I must say though this thread has been quite tame, you should login to a Poole one when they're on telly 😂
  4. As a matter of interest, what stopped you going between the early 90's and today?
  5. It needs to go back to a weekend staging to attract a crowd imo. I myself travelled up for the PCMT on a Monday night but have never been to a BF on a Monday, I did attend both weekend fixtures though... that's just me though. Do you know something we don't? Is Buxton a runner for a GP?
  6. That was ridiculous! If that's the last Speedway race I see, I'll die a happy man 😮
  7. I don't think the powers that be had any choice other than to switch from Eurosport to TNT though did they? It was WBD that made the decision to close Eurosport down in the UK.
  8. This meeting has not even reached the Speedway public! As I've posted elsewhere, punters didn't turn out for the qualifier either yet they will turn out to watch a load of contrived teams each week, although admittedly not in great numbers... it's a real head scratcher 🤔 Have to add, that the action tonight is very much the exception to the general rule though.
  9. Regardless of what happens from here on in, what a classic British Championship it's been and a great advert for the sport... it's just a shame there's not many there to see it. Can only hope it's got blockbuster viewing figures!
  10. You'd have thought they would have closed the main stand down and moved everybody over to the back straight... the opposite of what they do with the Colts meetings.
  11. Yes, please do that, I've quite enjoyed your silence... yet here you are again! You still enjoying what WBD have done to our sport?
  12. NEWS FLASH: The sport is in tatters, I've watched its continued deterioration over the last 50 years and nothing about that pleases me at all.
  13. Indeed... times have moved on though, unfortunately Speedway hasn't in many areas.
  14. I'm not sure the line-up is that poor, the British Final has always only had 2 or 3 riders that were capable of winning it. When I first started going to them it was Tatum vs Wigg, then you had the Havvy vs Andy Smith(!!) years, Loram v Louis v Screen, Nicholls vs Harris... then for a while Woffy and Lambert went missing, now they're back. The rest of the field was always made up of, let's put it politely, lesser lights. As for making it a multi round competition on a Saturday night, returning to compete in your national championship is compulsory is it not? It seems to be for other nationalities.
  15. Even the Scunny website said as much, maybe Mr @phillwhitewasmad will be dropping them a line?
  16. I don't know about anybody else but all I want from my Speedway is to see a close match, preferably (but not essentially) with my team winning, a sprinkling of good competitive racing, run in a timely manner and to not go home covered in dust. It's not too much to ask is it? These days not all of those 5 key things are consistently met. I don't think that being branded a "Keyboard Warrior" when saying when any one of those things has not been met is the right way to address it. It's the type of statement a Speedway promoter makes and has gotten the sport into the state it is currently in.
  17. All very laudable and the ducks do very much seem to be in a row, but... There are 2 comments that really need addressing before anything can happen: "assuming of course that control of the venue can be secured" "Gaining control of the stadium and restoring it for motorsports" Sadly, until this issue is addressed and resolved, nothing is going to happen. It would be nice to hear what is happening and what can be done to secure "control of the stadium". Keep up the good fight 💪
