  1. This offer is back on... https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/eurosport-player-back-at-ps1999-for-a-year-3680261 I dunno if it's worth a punt? I wonder if Eurosport will live broadcast Speedway on the Player during events like the Tennis and Olympics etc. Expires 21/03/21
  2. We, in Leicester, have been under restrictions since March of last year and even when the rest of the country "re-opened" we didn't, with reports of higher levels of vaccine hesitancy in the city I think we'll be one of the last city's to have restrictions lifted. I hope that is by the 1st of May but judging by what's happened over the last year I can't see it.
  3. Agreed, I think it'd be more prudent for clubs to run their own regional competitions and open meetings this season, much like what happens in Australia and the USA. They don't have TV contracts to fulfil though.
  4. I agree, makes you wonder whether British Speedway will start something they possibly can't finish then... I wonder if there's a plan?
  5. Just heard on the radio, the government are briefing the media that fans will be allowed back to sporting events from June. I wonder if the sport will push the season back by 1 month or try and run behind closed doors for a month?
  6. Listened to them all so far... most enjoyable, thanks!
  7. It seems that most people on here don't have the vision of what an app could be. One should be developed and aimed at kids, not as a replacement programme for the adults. How many times have you been at a Speedway meeting and the kids (fans of tomorrow) are just disinterested in what's going on, mainly during the long gaps between races and they just charge around annoying everybody else around them. You only have to look at the success of apps like Pokemon Go and the possibilities of augmented reality. These apps can be highly addictive and what's better than having the fans of tomorrow addicted to a night at the Speedway, for whatever reason. Obviously these things don't come cheap, so it'll probably never happen unless Poland do it and it can be translated into English.
  8. Good point... Well made, 85 then. I was at both... Distant fading memory now
  9. 1990 I think by the look of the sponsors on the boards
  10. I think it's in the same storage unit as the roof for the Odsal superdome
  11. Other than the thread having the word random in it I would disagree "Post a heat of speedway off YouTube etc! Doesn't have to be a clasic. Don't give away the result of that race! If we want to know, we'll have to watch it (unless obvious)."
  12. Hmm... Remains to be seen if they stand up in court if challenged
  13. You are allowed to travel anywhere in England I think... it's just "advised" you don't
  14. After taking a year out to work on his mental approach, his new mental approach seems to be exactly the same as his old mental approach
  15. It'll be interesting to see if any clubs/businesses/country's will require any form of vaccine passport stamp to allow entry/use/travel
  16. I think the land that Leicester is built on is owned by the council and out on a 99 year lease I hope you move them all to the front doing your bit for the sport
  17. Isn't this how Superbikes came about? I don't know and the PDC Darts split from the BDO and weren't Snooker also looking at splitting away from the WSC, and the Football Premier League are always floating ideas about splitting away and it's been talked about by F1 in the past also. In the majority of the above cases it was about the players/clubs in the higher echelons wanting to break away to cream off more of the money, where in Speedway's case it seems to be the opposite with the lower echelons breaking away from an all controlling league that poaches most of their assets
  18. Looking at the economic statement yesterday, just confirming what we all knew, surely the time is right for standardised equipment, it'll never happen of course so almost not worth discussing alas
  19. No surprise to see the money going to the "toffs" sports of RU and horse racing, they always look after their own despite the propaganda of "levelling up"
  20. So Speedway "Elite" to not allow crowds in but not "Elite" enough to be given any money... can't say I'm surprised, as a sole director employee running my own company I've also been totally stitched up by the government!
  21. Good response Najjer! Apologies, I stand corrected on some of your points, I remember some of Dan's 3rd places being in 3 rider only races, so lasts, a lot of this is just semantics though. Surely you can't deny that Dan was a "mile" off the pace in the early stages of the season, whether you accept that he was "dropped" or not he didn't get a ride between the 29th of June and the 14th of September. Moving the debate on a bit, Dan is currently the hottest young prospect we've got and he was completely outclassed except when he was riding on Woffy's kit with Woffy's mechanics, take off those 20 points and replace them with what his rolling CMA was and it tells a completely different story. The only way Dan will get rides next season is if he's scoring points, if not he'll get the same treatment he did this year If you translate Dan's story to that being suggested as being the route to "success" for British youth, then realistically they'll have to muster up thousands of pounds to get their kit up to scratch and risk only having 7 rides in 2 and a half months, I know you'll say that Dan was injured during this time, but realistically he'd already been dropped. Imo British youth should steer clear of Polish clubs until they are of a sufficient standard to maintain a team place and concentrate on getting as many guaranteed rides as they can where ever that may be.
