Panthers V Berwick 29/5/2015 Premier League 7.30pm

Gotta be right about something at some point LOL! Oh! Sorry! Obviously one of my many confused moments LOL! Well...the delays surrounding giving medical attention to someone I can understand. Riders need looking after if they're seriously hurt and that can take time depending on the injury. It's the delays for the sun and what have you that annoy me the most, but again, if you've already had a sun delay, don't go and have another interval later on, like Lynn seem to like doing as I say. That's when it starts to seem to take the biscuit! Agree on both counts. I saw James Shanes at the Fenland Grasstrack last August with Zach (can't spell his surname!) who's now at Birmingham. Both were very good. Shanes did well at Mildenhall in the U21s back in April too. I would certainly welcome him in at reserve. Would certainly be entertaining! -
Going to Manchester?

Bikes are lighter/faster than they were years ago. The faster a bike is travelling, the more likely that you're going to hurt yourself if you fall off. That's my thinking. -
Ah. 2009 at Peterborough. That was a great SWC The drunken Pole running on the track to man hug Tomas Gollob and I think there was a streaker too? More than likely another drunken Pole perhaps, but can't be certain. Was so long ago! I definitely remember the bloke running out to get to Gollob anyway, but not 100% sure that there was a streaker actually, but sometimes seems to make me think there was... It all just added to the entertainment on the night. But yeah, I think it should return there but it won't happen after the National Speedway Stadium is built. I imagine the SWC will go there and Lynn may not stand much of a chance in holding it anymore.

Cannot argue with that! Stocks/bangers are more popular than speedway as well we all know. They tend to draw in the bigger crowds so therefore generate more revenue.
-
Poor promotion of the Panthers within Peterborough itself and the surrounding area maybe? Either way, that's another discussion for a Panthers topic in the PL section, so I'll shut up now before I turn this into a full on Peterborough Panthers discussion
-
It was thank you I didn't go home disappointed! A friend of mine did say that the racing at Peterborough last night was better than what he saw at Lynn on Thursday night overall though, so that was good enough for me Funnily enough, I did think this myself! The last time I sat out of a home meeting by choice ended up being a really good one. Seems to be a pattern occurring here

I have to agree with StarLady. I've never ever felt that a meeting at Peterborough has been a long drawn out affair. First time I've ever known there to be a sun delay last night (the delay last night between heats 5/6). Yes, that went on for about 30mins, BUT at least that was then considered the only interval of the night instead of having another one after heat 9 or 10 or 12 later on (which is what Lynn seem to like doing these days! ) Apparently way back when, according to my father and a mate of mine, riders used to wear tinted goggles and just got on with racing in the sun, as let's face it, all tracks have always been in the positions they've been in (unless a club has moved home) and the sun shining is not a new phenomenon, so what's changed? Yes, there was then another 15min delay or so later anyway due to Richard Hall's crash, but you know, I can live with delays after crashes as those things can and are more likely to happen now. Beyond all that, my Peterborough mate was great company (as always!) and we normally have sensible and interesting discussions about the sports problems and what have you plus he throws a bit of banter in toward me which I don't really mind in the slightest. Yes, he went to Lynn on Thursday and I didn't and now he claims I really have dropped the Stars and become a fully fledged Panthers supporter instead I wouldn't go that far, but I now seem to enjoy my visits to Peterborough more than ever these days. Last night was no exception. Great racing. It's fun watching Michael Palm Toft completely miss the gate and then pass everyone and get first in the run to the line. His heats were the best of the night! I think I'm in love Sorry I was forgetting that! -
I made my decision and stuck with it. I can't live in regret! I'm just glad those that went saw something worth seeing for a change!

I sat this meeting out as I didn't expect it to be a very good meeting and a kind of one sided affair in Poole's favour, but I was proved wrong and got my decision to stay at home wrong. I don't have any regrets though. To see the meeting start was delayed till 8pm due to the sun, delayed again after 4 heats had passed for the same reason THEN see there was the usual interval after heat 10 really made my blood boil. Yes, I know Rory's collection was taking place and it's great they're gathering money for him, but couldn't the collection have taken place in the run up to 8pm in the first sun delay period or even the second one a bit later and then done away with the interval at heat 10? This is what is peeing many people off (myself included). I am an impatient person anyway, I will openly admit that, but you know, there is only so much people can withstand. Peterborough amazingly had a sun break last night (first one I've known of there!) after heat 5 BUT they did away with their interval later on and considered the early sun break their interval. There was another slight delay later on, but this was due to Richard Hall's crash. But anyway, well done to the Stars for proving me wrong! Credit where it's due! A decent performance by Sam Masters too and good all round solid team performance. Hope the lads enjoy the 2 week break for the World Cup!

Won't be there as early as I normally am... Looking like I won't get there until 7-7.30pm (very late for me!) but looking forward to this. Flyin Panther, feel free to say hello IF you see me -
Looking very much like a night at home tomorrow then I'm unsure that Masters will do much in the place of Rory. I wouldn't have said Masters was an EL heatleader yet...

He was with bigcatdiary at the pits when I was speaking to Helen Lambert. I had no idea who he was until he told me the forum name, which I had remembered! -

A fantastic meeting again yesterday marred by Lewis Blackbird's crash. I hope he has a speedy recovery. Nice to meet Stiltonpanther too and a couple of my Twitter followers -
Thank god Lewis does have nothing more than a couple of broken fingers! It could've been much worse. Hope he has a speedy recovery!

In the latest press release it says Robert Lambert has been given the all clear to ride, so he should be there. Seems like every man, woman and child is off to Wembley on Monday for the Middlesbrough v Norwich clash in the Championship play off final except me, so I'll be at the Showground for this, and Friday too hopefully. Apparently Kurtz is riding for Plymouth and not Ashley Morris and with only R/R at number one for the Panthers, it could make things interesting... -
Robert Lambert raced in Germany on Friday and he has been given the all clear to ride. It's in the club's latest press release

Sorry I missed you Paulco I stand in the home straight stand and not on bend 1 and was texting updates through for the updates forum, but would've been nice to say hello. Shame that the Peterborough meeting was called off on the Friday as I'd have been there for sure and also sorry to see that the Ipswich meeting was rained off on the Thursday. Bit of a bummer for you Glasgow fans that travelled all that way and didn't see your own team! A couple of Glasgow fans came to the Young Stars meeting on the Friday, so some people saw a meeting somewhere Oh and nice to meet you superguest after all these years. The power of Twitter or social media in general can be amazing -

He wasn't picked for heat 15 as it seems he'd been riding whilst feeling under the weather last night. His mum posted something on the PPSSC group on Facebook about his absence for Panthers today at Sheffield and it seems that's all connected. Passed out after his 4th ride. That's what's been said. -
Not posted here for a while! The change of start time on a Sunday won't affect me too much, but I am aware that there are now some supporters that will stop going due to having young kids that need to be in bed and settled down by a particular time in the evening (and they travel from further afield - like the majority of the Panthers support base does I believe!) I have to say that the Ipswich meeting on Easter Monday was very good I thought and much better than the last home meeting v Plymouth. The racing in that meeting only improved after heat 8/9. It was a sunny day, but with a rather brisk breeze, so the track was drying out pretty fast. I can understand why the promotion have felt the need to move the start time back by a couple of hours. Might as well prepare a good surface that will give the home riders some benefit instead of playing right into the oppositions hands! I just hope it doesn't affect the crowd level too much. With regards to finding a new number one, that job may well have gotten harder now with Simon Stead crashing out last night whilst riding at Rye House for Sheffield as now Sheffield will be looking for a new number one themselves, so there could be a fight on Peterborough's hands to actually find someone worth having now

King's Lynn V Lakeside Tues 31st Sky 7.30
em1500uk replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sorry Trees for appearing to be all doom and gloom but I'm actually more excited looking at the PL this season I'm still going tomorrow, don't get me wrong. I don't have Sky so I say to hell with them I'd rather be there as watching it on TV just isn't the same for me (OK I left the last meeting well before time last Thursday but that was simply due to the delays and the temperature!) Bit of a catch 22 situation with Sky. It's a form of promotion, but at the same time there are downsides to having a meeting shown live on TV as without reduced admission, it puts many folk off going. I've never known Lynn to offer reduced admission when Sky have been in town and I think that's kinda poor personally. Sky did it themselves last year where you bought tickets online at a discount, but I don't know if that's continuing this year? -

I was so fed up I left after heat 11. Have I ever done that before? No! So yeah, I think the atmosphere is kinda flat at present. Although I think taking a 15 minute interval after all those delays when it was freezing cold was what really did it for me. That just took the biscuit. But I wonder if the riders really weren't that impressed with the racing surface and demanded a longer track grade and that was why they had the long interval? You never know... That's if many people go... I've already seen quite a few people on Twitter saying that because it's on Sky, they will stay at home and watch on the TV... -

I can see where you're coming from. I don't know. It just feels very strange this season for me for whatever reason. I thought I'd have a bit of a buzz for the season ahead...but I don't. It's hard for me to explain. Maybe I'm just a Panthers convert LOL?!?! *Oops*
