  1. Yep it’s me mate thanks for the kind words about the lad . He tries his best and has the ambition and backing so let’s see where the journey takes us
  2. Costs are high at any level. During the winter I built my son a brand new 250 bike every part unused and cost in excess of 7k. Gm engine was over 4K and proceed to destroy itself after 25 laps. Only way to reduce cost is to get lower prices from suppliers, that won’t happen though as the demand isn’t great
  3. Martin live cricket is more about the social occasion, all day sat down with your mates drinking beer generally having a good laugh and not getting covered in crap . (Well not till later when everyone has had to much beer)
  4. Personally think the star has become a better value magazine during these times. Love the stars of tomorrow pieces keep up the good work
  5. As the parent of a junior I personally think the youth system is brilliant only thing I think it lets itself down on is the part highlighted. it would be enhanced if there were elite sessions for the boys and girls on the smaller capacity bikes.Think the kids and parents could be helped along the way as most are self taught picking up bad habits along the way (my lad included). The ATPI academy is a brilliant idea but feel the top lads and lasses need more guidance at before they get there. also using the word elite it has to be the best riders on merit and not a numbers game those not invited have to strive to achieve The level
  6. Problem is I do think most would still moan if the bspa came up with a eureka moment
  7. I don’t disagree with the costs but if the engine was what they said it was you would only need one. They could of done a HP type deal on them and with service intervals being less surely costs would of been eventually evened up. I get this wouldn’t of been ideal but there has to be a commitment from both sides. Currently we have riders wanting more money because costs are high, we have promotions wanting to cut costs because out goings are to high yet neither side has the will to come together for the good of the sport . just my opinion really
  8. Keep reading threads and a big point keeps coming up about standard engines. Think the biggest mistake was they didn’t make the gerhard engine compulsory for the national league within two years of the time the got involved with them.
  9. A poor meeting at Torun is better than any at Sheffield. Not seen a good one there even when scunny have won just because it’s fast don’t mean it good quality racing
  10. Track in the middle of nowhere is the only way forward. How many other clubs struggle to survive with curfews and restrictions due to there locations. From a field to what we have now is massive and with Rob constantly investing in the facility it’s only going to improve. Like has been pointed out it’s very good in comparison to some but remember your beloved Sheffield and Belle vue ain’t as good venues as torun.
  11. Wonder how many Peterborough riders will be in the last list for the Ben fund meeting on Saturday. Seems strange all competitors hadn’t been released yet. Then this not so unexpected news hits .
  12. Depends on the rider really . If you can except defeat makes winning sweeter
  13. With it been a development league do the results really matter .
  14. personally believe Northern junior league is the better format with 125s and 500s as it allows kids to be in the team format. done wonders for my lad who misses out this year due to being on a 250. shame the mdl sdl don't run a similar format as there is a huge number of the smaller capacity riders in the south that would of then alleviated some of the issues regarding riders having multipul teams and the reliance on older riders. ps I don't have any issues with the age thing but its all in the name junior league or development league it has to be about the future.
  15. Personally think Bradford will be ok as a nomadic team as the track exists think the clamp down has been mainly on teams were no track is in the town they represent.
  16. Only person Entertainmentwise to replace Danny would be Niike Lunna and sadly won’t be him.
  17. this thing about school and travelling is a myth for speedway kids. the parents understand the time and effort required to even make a junior league rider let alone a league rider. if the kids cant make a meeting that starts usually around 9pm after finishing school at 3.30 there is something wrong. my lads going to be Wolverhampton mascot this year and he will be picked up a 3.40 arrive at track for 6pm do his laps watch the meeting then set off home around 9.30 to 10 and arrive back around midnight sleeps in the van gets up 7.30 for school and eat sleep then repeat.
  18. in fairness most of the lads coming in are coming through the youth system so most journeys are brutal . I believe that there is an exceptance within the young lads that's what they have to do
  19. personally don't think it should be used all year give the incoming rider number 9
  20. Maybe they can fulfill the bspa criteria straight away and have all the required paperwork in order. Hasn’t it been officially said your team didn’t complete the requirements in the paperwork area
  21. yep but unfortunately they don't exist as an entity so wouldn't get a vote . it is all madness though more teams has to be the way forward
  22. as I understand it the league is split between standalones and junior teams and as such the former wanted loads of fixtures and the later wanting fewer. the addition of another team would of suited some but not others. what we will never know is would all the declared teams have run if another team had entered due to extra fixture. I am not defending the BSPA as I do believe more teams = more opportunity for younger riders which in the long term could lead to less doubling and trebling up just my take on what has been said publicly by the teams and Bspa . On a footnote to all this the Bspa is all the teams and they all have a vote
  23. That’s spot on we have a 12 year old who rides and have already come to the conclusion that we will have to fund his hobby until he is in his early 20s should he wish to peruse a career in speedway.
