  1. As i see it if club owners are benefitting then clubs are helped with the finances . also if you look at the fields for the amateur riders at Scunthorpe yes there is a large proportion of competitors who will never race at any other level but without them competing the meetings wouldnt be viable , so in effect reduces track time for those who have a chance of making the level required. also hope does lie within the youth system but if you look at all the amateur meeting lists lots of Neil Vatchers young lions are competing in them but without the hobby riders as well meetings wouldnt be viable
  2. Thriving is a word that can describe speedway in the uk in two categories only one been the youth series and the other been amateur racing. Think league racing will continue to struggle until the clubs embrace them. Two many clubs are not interested in youth riders until there old enough to sign and not enough cater for your weekend racer. Build form the bottom to feed the top
  3. Don't think he will need his forensic accountant to add up his sensible post's
  4. Sad thing is we all know rye is gone regardless of the effort put in by those wanting to save it at its current location. Surely these efforts would be better directed at re inventing it at a different location in the same locality
  5. Bring it on less foreign riders more opportunities for young British riders build again from the bottom. Weaken the teams in the short term to strengthen the product in the long term. After COVID and brexit it's a free hit so go for it
  6. It was all here till 3 weeks ago tero collected it and shipped it back to Finland for him. Jesse did use both of Nike's chassis at the son one had his own engine the other had Nike's in it .
  7. Think that's how the lower league should be with one old hand in each team for knowledge and advice. Riders like Howe Schramm would be great for that role.
  8. When I read the article I interpreted it as put your own house in order be firm with your national licensed riders and if they don't like it block them from riding elsewhere. in fairness he's bang on with it however the likes of woffinden and Lambert will just revert to foreign licences and race under a different national flag.
  9. Got mine bang on time from the shop in our village.
  10. Agree totally but that is the way of the world as you say the new owners are changing things but the history obviously weighs heavy on them
  11. So it's Debbie Hancock fault now , still think they should be allowed in but maybe if there own house was in order the committee couldn't refuse entry.
  12. In fairness those 16 riders are a loss to the sport just think how much knowledge and experience they have and could pass on to junior riders, Wayne Carter was brilliant with the young scorpions team 2005/2008 . Similar could happen with this list. would be great having someone like David Howe in my lads corner
  13. Got ours bang on time from the local shop not missed yet only time I don't get on a Thursday is when I don't go to shop
  14. I wouldn't know that I have no information to back it up. not in any dealings I have had with him. Got to speak as you find .
  15. Unfortunately as has been recently stated by Ellis Perks you don't make a living from it and don't cover costs so is definitely not professional
  16. It's a forum say what you think unless your jenga in disguise and will cry outside the turnstiles
  17. In reply to first post speedway is not a professional sport hasn't been for over 10 years , it's an amateur sport run by enthusiasts. in reply to post 2 do you consider Somerset owner Debbie Hancock a spiv as she is part of the Bspl
  18. In fairness I think you will find it's not a one man show as I understand it the majority of clubs vetoed Plymouth last year he is just the one who has to say it in public because he is the chairman. personally I would like all votes to be transparent so everyone can see who voted for what then see who really is pulling the strings . Instead of just blaming the person who announces it
  19. We have said this even at junior level. My lad has benefited massively on the 125cc by racing in Poland ,Czech, Germany ,holland and Belgium over the last few years . The level was a grade above ours but showed us where we needed to be. Having watched a 250 meeting in Germany again it showed where we can improve. Due to the restrictions this year been unable to compete abroad on the 250 but we have had several conversations with Neil Vatcher about getting into Europe as often as possible as a group or individuals. As you say riding against the same riders every week gives a false impression of where you are.
  20. thing is Poland will run regardless of covid next year but will we in the uk. if I was there age and only definite chance to race (if picked) was Poland thats where i would go. these lads cant hang around on a maybe . if they dont get competitive track time they will stagnate which again is no good for them or the sport here,
  21. no i think they should be allowed however there is a lack of riders if supporters want the same level of rider that are already competing. if they weaken the product slightly and allow good standard NL riders in more than enough to go round. personally think they should stop doubling up or down for any rider over say 23 and no doubling up for any non british passport holder . hopefully that would give more team places and stop young british riders drifting away from the sport as there are the lack of oppertunities
