'Formed in the year 2000 the Polish Extraliga is arguably now the toughest speedway league in the World and certainly the most popular in terms of live audiences. The fervour in which fans support their teams is a sight to behold with speedway being the most popular sport in the country. GSI hold the International Media rights for this league and are looking to propel this property onto the world stage over the next few years.'
Is this last bit just rubbish? Do they just buy rights to stop others showing it?
Alex Edberg is the only one in that list that would put Compton in reserve, the others would bring the team over the points limit.
Hynek Stichauer 4.56 and Simon Nielsen 4.36 would also put Compton to reserve.
It says on the BSPA website, Teams race 24 meetings (12 home, 12 away). I read on the forum there is going 14 home and away, I guess they have just failed to update the website.
The more I think about Scunthorpe's team the more I like it, If Douglas carries on where he left off last year I reckon he could put a point on his average but he would probably still be at reserve.
I think a similar youth development scheme might work in the premier league but not in the elite league. Its just a recipe for some boring races. Darcy ward versus josh bates, edge of your seat stuff. Some of the riders are not even good enough for the PL never mind the EL. I imagine the race format will be similar to Sweden where there are 2 reserves races.
