  1. I think a piston now is just short of £200 . 2 piston rings £50 . replacement big end bearing £100 , if you include pressing and balance 200 . Nicasil relining of barrel £450 Conrod £250. valves £40 each , Valve springs £20 each
  2. Well i beg to differ .speedway parts are a closed shop . in 1987 I went to omega for a piston list price for the piston was £41 . they were sierra cosworth pistons that went onto godden engines , I got questioned why i only wanted 1 piston . and foolishly told them it for for a speedway bike ,, immediately got told , we cant sell you one because we have a deal with Godden not to sell for speedway use .. price from Godden £94
  3. I believe that was Martin Hagon . back in the 80's the Hagon horizontal , of course way back in the 20's when engines were just motorbike engines there would have been some , but I think Hagon was the first speedway laydown
  4. Production road racing allows the tuning of an engine to "blueprint" . the engines are not sealed , the machine examination procedure is far more technical than speedway though , if speedway were to be standardised technical inspection would need to be far more strict than it is now ..
  5. There are quite a few riders who do their own engines , so what about those , it's a single cylinder 500 cc 4 stroke ,not rocket science , so a network of service agents however large means riders are forced into uneccessary expense
  6. spot on . wouldn't be at all surprised ,if peter johns has already had one apart to see which bits can be lightened or replaced with titanium , speedway is it's own worst enemy , because instead of protecting the longevity aspect of this engine , the authorities will be encouraging "Tuners" to improve them .. easy way to slow them down , change to petrol , 30% less power , run lower compression so theres less stress on bottom end components , only problem is the heat because pterol burns hotter than methanol
  7. Look at Leicester and you'll find the answer to that is a definite no . , also Look at Leicester for evidence of egomaniac insisting on top league despite it running the club close to bankruptcy
  8. The Danes don't need morals they can earn a living in their own country , and when they are good enough can go for the big money in Poland , Unlike the Aussies who's only route to Poland is through British speedway, Danes don't owe us a thing , they come here the finished article and when they decide they don't want us anymore they can't be accused of using us as a stepping stone
  9. would he have got the GM if it was just a member of the Public . I very much doubt it
  10. so its Big Rons fault that she is still living the highlife off the taxpayer ,and has also given birth to 2 more generations of leeches
  11. Some of the teams are run by people who are desperate to be the one who discovered the next big thing . and think riders can be treated like commodities and supporters are merely there to finance their ambition
  12. to me the national league is just that ,a league , there are places for training and its not in front of a paying audience , all this development bollox really grinds my gears . I don't go to speedway to watch people learn to ride . I go to watch accomplished riders RACE each other . we have Midland league for training . but most Midland league teams are struggling for riders because lads who should be learning their way in it wont ride, because they think they are too good for it . let me tell you lads you ain't and you can only live off gifted points from races with only 2 or 3 finishers because riders have fallen off for so long .. then you get sent to Mildenhall and replaced by another unqualified rider . meanwhile Joe public is down the pub spending his money elsewhere , while the NL promotions come on here and social media begging for support, for amateur racing . no thanks if you want my support then drop all the development bollox , and assemble a team worth my admission fee to watch
  13. I wouldn't worry about the next generation of bees , theres always been a ready pool of riders from Denmark ,Sweden .Poland ,Australia , that have kept the bees flying high .. concentrate on winning in the National league give the supporters what they pay for . if anyone to watch raw kids falling off ,they can always go to a training school and watch for free ..
  14. many hundreds have stopped going through the turnstiles at all tracks , In all leagues . this is applies whether the current incumbent is popular or not and whether the team are doing well or not . I don't know the ins and outs of Stoke speedway so I speak as a complete outsider with no axe to grind , but i do know that Dave Tattum is well down the wealth scale in terms of speedway promoters , If the Dugards and Moles of this world think that running a national league team in the current financial climate makes sense , and if Cradley with their massive support and bank balance are happy wheres the problem . I can only assume that a proportion of Stoke fans would rather not have a team to support, than see the current one racing each week , and hope for a new horizon . I can't see tattum going anywhere . but if he chooses not to run speedway any more because of all the hassle then you'll be the losers , because he will not be handing the reigns over to someone else to run speedway there . so either go along and support your team . or stay away and spend your cash elsewhere , leave the remaining few supporters to watch Stoke speedway go through it's death throes . then when it's finished , you can all say I told you so ..
  15. the best way for Dave Tattum to make money out of Stoke speedway , is to close it down and rent the stadium for stock cars or bangers . I dont know where your info comes from regarding Profit and loss of speedway teams . but if you think running one makes a profit you need to go to specsavers .. and it takes someone who has a real interest in speedway to keep one running when it's so easy to give up and take the easy option of leasing to other for profitable sports ,,
  16. Without Dave Tattum Stoke would no longer be a Speedway. it would be a healthy profit making stock car/ banger track. no problems with the surface because it would be tarmac, no problem with air fences because it would be concrete .Sure there have been problems in the past ,and as a standalone this latest electrical problem is fairly insignificant and was handled in the best manner it could be taking all parties into consideration, but added to previous misfortunes makes great ammunition for those with a grudge , whenever I see or hear of a track suffering a catalogue of disasters however they are caused or created , it always makes me think of Milton Keynes . they had a run of bad luck and incompetence but they and their supporters are no longer suffering from them are they ? . and a similar fate is eagerly awaiting Stoke if the various parties with interest dont put their grievances aside and work together for the greater good .
  17. I don't think there's any allegedly about it TWK .
  18. Even if the Bees lose this Match , we can still say we didn't lose to Leicester
  19. at least you could see some reason for the delays . my BMX experience was just delay for the sake of it ..
  20. He's really helpful if you have any soldering to do
  21. They did have something which i think , speedway could use ,, a smartphone app , to keep the competitors up to speed as to races scores etc , a sort of auto updating program . with added features
  22. I went to Birmingham BMX track today to watch a great nephew taking part in a BMX meeting .. I will certainly never complain about drawn out speedway meetings again , there is so much messing about and so little action it's absolutely ridicilous , in the space of 2. 1/2 hours they managed to run no more that twelve 40 second races , wont be going again for sure and after a further 30 minute delay was pencilled in before the Finals . I left
  23. so just like any other rider if he is up to it he can qualify for 2016 0r beyond . and just like any other rider he can be selected for a wild card at his home GP ,
  24. if he came out with a statement similar to that , i would not believe one word of it . he lacks the brains to string 2 coherent words together , so it would have been written by someone else . a statement claiming I'll try not to do anymore stupid things or I'll do my best not to get caught again , would be more likely to have come from him . but whatever statement he makes only an idiot would believe he means , because if he decided to steal a car or take drugs this afternoon the consequences would be the last thing on his mind
