  1. Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has just announced that the Grand Prix will be decided on race wins this season and not on points . Should Speedway Grand Prix's go down the same route . I don't know if this would make much difference to the results although Mark Loram certainly would not have won Has Formua One got it right or have they make a great mistake?
  2. For any trips first go to www.quidco .com and sign up. Then go to to Hotel.com or others on this site as this willl get you on average 10% discount on hotel prices. Last year I booked the 5 star Corinth Towers for two and the cost was £130 for 3 nghts Bed and Breakfast and we were upgraded. Great value ut this year for the same 3 days is £256. Still good value. Hotel is 300 yards from Metro then 3 stops to Prague Centre. At the airport get the bus to Prague. This will take you to the Metro which has 3 lines and a 4th to be added. The Metro will take you nearly evewhere and it is cheap and frequent. You can also take the trams or buses. I think a days ticket was £3 for all. Last year we sat on the 3rd and 4th bends ,3 rows from the front . Great view until they graded and watered the track after heat 4 .Then we got covered in wet shale. We then moved to the home straight and sat there in the dear seats. No problem. Prague is a great city ,certainly in the top 5 cities in Europe.
  3. Having been to both one off world finals and Grand Prix home and abroad, there was nothing like the one off world finals for excitement. How can you compare a Individual World Final at Wembley with a GP at Gelschenkirchen or Vojens I personally think the GP's in their present form only have a limited shelf life left in them. What is the point going to a GP when the world championship has already been decided. Attendences are falling at the GP's and will fall further still this season. How many actually made a profit last season.
  4. As Poland are the possibly the top Speedway nation at the present time why have they only had one world champion who was a lucky winner in 1973 and except Tomasz Gollob not looked like having another one
  5. Will the could I call it the devaluation of the Pound against the Euro affect peoples trips abroad this year. I went to Prague where for two the cost of the hotel was £142 , this year £258 for the same hotel. What sort of product to the GP's think they have with tickets there going up to £84. That will be a miss this year. Obviously will not be going back to Gelschenkirchen. I went to Sweden as well and that is 25% up on last year. It will be quite interesting to see whether the GP's will lose their attraction in the near future
  6. Go to the site www,quidco.com and book hotels abroad with the holiday companies like hotel.com and save another 8% on average. They do holidays all over Europe,Electrical goods, bookies account all with discounts. It cost £5 to join but you do not pay anything as he comes off your first discount.
  7. So with 9 teams all club will have to go at certain times of the season without a home match for three weeks. Wonder how long the gap will be if they get rain offs as well.
  8. So has the first place for the Super Prix Final gone up from $120,000 to $200,000. Must have missed that
  9. You canot sue somebody from another country in the small claims court. Is there anybody on this site that has not gone to a Speedway Meeting that has been cancelled before or part on the way through. There are people posting on here saying whose fault it is and nobody has a clue. If you take a sun holiday abroad and it rains every day there is nothing you can do about it. I went to the German GP here last season and the weekend was great but the track and racing was absmal so I did not go this year. From the feeback so did a lot of other people that was why ticket sales were so poor. Forget giving anybody a hefty fine or bans for Gelschenkirschen(how does anybody know it was their fault) it will not feature in any future GP's
  10. I would think that you will not see a German Grand Prix next year. Then they could make the Oz GP more interesting by putting the £200,000 race there next year
  11. Anybody have any ideas who is riding in this or is it another no interest meeting?
  12. Don't know if this is true or not. The riders have two minutes to be up to the tapes everywhere except at Coventry where I think it is 3 minutes as Ben Barker did not get to the tapes until 2 mins 56 secs in the 2nd heat. In a later heat he was much quicker onlyl being 2mins 24 seconds.
  13. Who is riding in the Polish Championship. Bookies have Piotr Swederski at 30/1 but I had him down as a non runner due to injured hand
  14. Friday was the hottest day of the year in Prague and guess what 8.30 local time it's raining and the sky looks very overcast for the rest of the day
  15. I went to the Speedway meeting in Majorca in the early 1970's It was held just outside Palma at a place called San Pardo. The meeting was won easily by Marshall Pugh. I think all the Spanish riders were complete novices. The crowd was good round about 7000 although there never was another meeting.
  16. So who finish third in Saturday's GP. Today's Times has 1st JC 2nd GH and 3rd Bjarne Pedersen and 4th SN Is this correct or was Nikki Pedersen third?. As Nikki Pedersen and Scott Nicholls were both credited with no points in the final surely Scotty should be placed higher than Nikki Pedersen as he scored more points overall in the other races.
  17. It's a terrible shameore that Speedway and in particular the British Grand Prix gets so little publicity, in the media. There were probably more people at Cardiff yesterday that in any other Sport in Britain or even Europe . The stadium looked close to capacity which is four times as many people on Centre Court at Wimbledon watching Andy Murray. I would think the Cardiff attendence will be higher that the European Football final tonight. I wonder is there will be any report of the GP final in Monday's papers. I will be very suprised if there is.

  20. Having been to the practice and the meeting, the practice was the longest I have seen lasting nearly 2 and a half hours. I don't know how Scot Nicholls was the 3rd fastest becauce I din't think any rider went flat out for four laps. They came out in groups of threes and practiced starts and perhaps one lap flat out then four or five laps then the next three and so then repeated this about four times. The track was perfect at practice. It was unfair critisim of the commontators to say the track was so bad because it was notas bad. as they made out. . A lot of the accidents had nothing to do with the track at all .Neils Kristian Iversen's crash was because he had too much speed going into the third bend and nearly hitting Jason Crump causing him to spin and then hit the air fence. Chris Harris, Scott Nicholls and Andreas Jonsson were all racing incidents. Greg Hancock shed a chain. Could not see how Hans accident was caused as it was in front of me and could not see any visible ruts there. Then Kelvin Tatum saying t hey must regrade the track now when Thomas Gollob fell. His words"Thomas Gollob has just crashed in the same rut as Hans Andersen.(as TB crashed on the 2nd bend and HA on the 4th bend it must be quite a long rut). The track was thoroughly graded after every 4 heats then after the 20 heats then again after the semi final. There were a lot of mistakes made during the meeting but it might have been because the riders were going so fast due to the size of the track and the fairly narrow straights. . Thought Nikki Pedersen was unlucky in the final as he made the gate and just got out on the wet stuff. as was Freddie Lindgren who was super every race except his last. Rene Holta was brilliant to come from gate four to win the final.
  21. If the end comes for League Racing it will also become the end for Grand Prix Meetings as well, because where will the new riders come from. Could not see many people going to Cardiff or other GP's if there was no league racing
  22. According to todays Daily Mirror Jarek Hampel is a non starter
  23. Can anybody tell me what is on the back of the gelsenirchen ticket.I think it means free travel in the ruhr on the day of the grand prix or is there something more in it that that
