  1. You.. Right? Naaah. Someone was talking to me the other day about why it was better having a one-off event than a series of GP's - this year being a prime example why. The atmosphere for the final is amazing *because* anyone could become World Champion. With the GP's, Nicki can get the title before even going into the last meeting. Nicki has been riding well, dont get me wrong, I like him, but it will take some of the excitement out if he gets enough of a lead to become champ.
  2. I'm now starting to read this book; obviously I never saw him ride, but its an interesting read. A few chapters in you're already thrown into a bit of what his world was like. You could almost feel sorry for the boy.
  3. He was 75 - he died just a few weeks after his birthday.
  4. Nicki brilliant as usual. Scotty rode really well, was unlucky in the final heat. Shame Bomber couldn't really get round much, and as for Crump - not a fan of the man but I was shouting for him tonight, to get to the semi's with a broken kneecap, well, you've got to respect him for that. (Possibly tell him he's a bloody fool too, but respect him nevertheless.) Hampel and Holta surprised me. I missed about 6 heats, but on the plus side, in watching from heat 11ish onwards, I've got 3 of my friends interested in speedway. Edit: Almost forgot, the track I wasnt impressed with, not enough grip round the outside IMO and far too bumpy. Poor ol' Andreas, you saw when he lost control it was the rut, he was just unfortunate. Could have happened to any, really. Another rider, cant remember which (I was drinking at the time ) did really well to stay on after getting caught in a rut, and not take anyone else out.
  5. As I only got into speedway this year, dont know who he is, but always sad to loose someone from the speedway family, I believe my dad can remember him. RIP.
  6. Me and another girl were standing at the pits, saying, just think.. One day that little lad we're watching stretch in a helmet half his side (looked v cute btw lol) might be world champion. Strange to think, really. And whos Dewsy?
  7. Stayed til we saw everyone get up from Race 5. Looked to be better academy than usual, tbh, more speed. Plus was good to see the little lad riding around, bless him!
  8. At least its nothing more serious, cheers for the update. Me and mum like Greg, he's always smiling.
  9. They probably did... The Aussies, Danes and Poles spent all the meeting tuning their engines and making changes. And GB......
  10. I choose the love him option... Definitely that one. Nothing like a nice bit of controversy- almost reminds you of Jose Mourinho in football.
  11. Probably because Holder's the one who's been getting all the media attention lately, with the Welsh Open, is he going EL or isnt he, GP qualifiers (though he didnt get through), PL Pairs, PL4TT, etc, etc. I suppose its just because he's the upcoming rider, people expected more of him, which considering his lack of experience in the SWC and at that level, maybe isnt entirely fair. *shrug*
  12. Track was pretty bad - far too slick. Just glad GB were drawn in event 2 - only imagine Bomber on that, none of the grip he loves so much! Denmark were excellent, Crumpy/Adams stood out for Aus. I'd imagine Holder might do better in the race-off at Poland, since he races over there (or am I wrong?). I guess a lot of them have ridden in Poland, though, couldnt say about Denmark. Look forward to Monday.. should imagine that track will be in much better condition than this one was. Nevertheless, there were a few good moves - biggest problem was that if one rider made a small mistake, it was very difficult to recover.
  13. Dare I ask what? Point proved. I'm hoping to see Australia & Denmark do well. Both got pretty strong looking teams (not that there's any that look particularly week).
  14. Haha! I'll have to have a look for that picture, that might be somewhat amusing. Nicki Pedersen can still keep the title of 'bad boy of speedway', I reckon. He suits it much better.
  15. I wont deny it because of that. Dont ask, lol, random reasons. Everyone I speak to always seems to rave about him anyway. I've yet to actually hear anyone say anything negative about him.. Ah well..When it comes down to it, hes a brilliant rider to watch.. and has an aussie accent. Always a plus.
  16. Looking forward to seeing this (since swollen insect bites on ankle put paid to any idea of going clubbing). I have to admit I'm hoping to see Holder do well (though of course I'll deny that ). Doubtless Nicki and Hans will be flying, and also hope to see Gollob picking up some form.
  17. Haven't heard anything. Excellent - bookmarked one of the updates, now I can check on the progress on my phone whilst watching Mildenall and KL. Best of both.
  18. Paulr, I think I saw somewhere it'd be released on the 16th July, though I may be wrong.
  19. It is correct, but theres shipping on top of that - £3 in the UK. I've already preordered it.
  20. First Heat: Daniel Greenwood (blue), Brendan Johnson (red), James Sergeant (white), Richard Franklin (green) Time: 60.0 Second Heat: Shane Hazeldon (red), Marc Owen (white), Jake Knights (yellow), Rhys Nailer (blue) Time: 62.0 Apologies for any misspellings, when I went to look at my programme I found my father had taken it, so I had to get him to tell me over the phone. When he eventually worked out what I wanted. *rolls eyes* Also, in the first heat, Richard Franklin didn't actually start the first lap - failed at the tapes. There were of course only 2 heats.
  21. If that happened, imagine the noise for british riders. Especially if a british rider won.. again.
  22. I thought it was a shame they had this so early - there werent too many people in the stadium, might have been nicer for the lads to ride in front of a larger crowd. I was a bit surprised tbh - but those two heats were actually pretty good. Shame we didnt have more of that instead of the entertainment
  23. We took the camera but as we were top tiers the photos were somewhat crap tbh. There is a picture of me tho, hate posing for a camera hence the lack of a smile (would have been different if it'd been taken after the GP) which is here. Now HERES a line-up for you, anyone recognise it perchance? No pics of action as were too busy shouting.
