What's done is done, no point starting more and more topics about what has happened and the reasons why. SMS is the best way to look to the future for Mildenhall.

c/o BSPA NEWPORT: HORNETS V ISLE OF WIGHT (NL) - PREVIEW WEDNESDAY AUGUST 18, 2010 Already progressing through the National League KO Cup competition and currently top of the National League table the Newport Hornets continue their quest to bring silverware to Queensway Meadows when they race the Isle of Wight Islanders in the National Trophy competition on Sunday afternoon with tapes up at 2.30pm. The Hornets will race the independent speedway clubs Plymouth, Weymouth, Buxton and the Isle of Wight at home and away in the National Trophy as the season moves to a busy climax with Sunday's vsitors having strengthened their team in the past few weeks with the acquisition of ex-Premier League rider Lee Smethills and GB Under-21 international squad member Paul Starke. Already in their ranks they have ex-Newport Wasp Nick Simmons, ex-Newport Maverick Danny Warwick plus veteran Dean Felton in a reserve berth. The Hornets will see Kyle Newman back in the ranks following his being withdrawn by the medical staff last Sunday after hitting his head in a heavy crash with team-mate Tom Young. Local lad Young from nearby Lliswerry was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with suspected broken ribs but discharged himself the same evening. Although a place has been left blank in the line up in case he is fit to ride this is unlikely and Newport have lined up an experienced rider to cover should the circumstances require it. NEWPORT 'WESSEX BUS' HORNETS: 1. Todd Kurtz 2. Luke Priest 3. Mark Jones 4. Tony Atkin © 5. Kyle Newman 6. James White-Williams 7. To be confirmed ISLE OF WIGHT ISLANDERS: 1. Paul Starke 2. Lee Smethills 3. Danny Warwick 4. Brendan Johnson 5. Nick Simmons © 6. Dean Felton 7. Tom Hill

Next time, take the update, and you'll get scorers as they happen. Sorry Bryn, I can't take calls or texts at the moment, just no signal!
-
Sadly no updates tonight, but if anyone hears anything, please feel free to post it on the updates thread here.
-
Thanks for that Ken, that's actually somewhat rubbish.. what time are the fixtures on for (estimated time for the second one)? This may be the difference between what I can and cant do that weekend..
-
Let's see if the weather holds out this week... Islanders new signing Paul Starke will debut if so, as below press release: Also, usual texter for the Speedway Updates is unavailable... If anyone is going who could text updates please send myself or Crazy Sue a message, or leave a message here.
-
Considering it's been worded as a polite question rather than a direct attack, I don't think that was the intention, as other threads started by others in the past for various topics may have been. Re-read the thread; as far as I can see, June hasn't mentioned stopping him riding in the NL once.
-
Excellent (!), I may be able to attend the re-staging now.
-
I'd like to come, but I'll be on a train to (hopefully) a sunnier county. Hopefully it's a good meeting.
-
No idea on line-ups but I think Ben was hoping to be able to race tonight, though may be wrong as not heard anything recently.
-
Updates will be available here. Thread may not be open/anything happening til nearer the start time, but never fear, I have an appointment and some food shopping to do beforehand.. I'll be there before it starts, guaranteed

Heat 01: Brundle, Simmons, Smethills, Halsey, 3-3, 3-3, 69.3 Line Up: Nick Simmons, Lee Smethills, James Brundle, Daniel Halsey Comments: Brundle away like a rocket, with Simmons quickly filing in behind him. Halsey struggling a little at the back. Sponsored by www.enjaydesigns.net Heat 02: Hill, Felton, Baseby, Resch, 5-1, 8-4, 72.7 Line Up: Dean Felton, Tom Hill, Aaron Baseby, John Resch Comments: Hill away quickly, with Felton tucked in behind. From the gate. Sponsored by Steve Dixon www.stevedixonphotography.co.uk Heat 03: Warwick, Johnson, Howarth, Mason, 5-1, 13-5, 68.8 Line Up: Danny Warwick, Brendan Johnson, Karl Mason, Kyle Howarth Comments: Warwick away well, with some elbows on the inside. Johnson and Howarth neck and neck down back straight, but Johnson holds his nerve up the inside. Sponsored by: Speedway fans, we will take your favourite picture and turn it into an awesome one-off gift, check us out at www.createaclock.co.uk Heat 04: Hopwood, Felton, A Baseby, 5-1, 18-6, 69.7 Line Up: Ben Hopwood, Tom Hill Dean Felton, Mark Baseby, John Resch Aaron Baseby Comments: Reserve changes for both teams with Aaron Baseby in Yellow Helmet and Dean Felton in Blue Helmet. M Baseby got the gate and was leading, until Hopwood picked up some great drive around the outisde of bend 2 and went straight past him. Those 2 were well clear of the reserves, until M Baseby went to give it the big 'un around the outside of bend 1, but his bike went, and he did very well to stay on, giving the I.o.W. another 5-1! Sponsored by Friends of Edinburgh Speedway http://www.foes.info/ Heat 05: Re-Run: Warwick, BRUNDLE, Halsey, Johnson, 3-5, 21-11, 68.9 Line Up: Danny Warwick, Brendan Johnson, JAMES BRUNDLE, Daniel Halsey Comments: Brundle on a Tactical Ride. All 4 back unsatisfactory start, good gates from Warwick & Brundle. Re-Run: Again excellent gating from Warwick and Brundle, but Warwick really gets over quick to Brundle to slow him down and take the lead. Johnson struggling at the back, just missing out on the line to Halsey. Sponsored by Splod Heat 06: Smethills, Simmons, Resch, 5-1, 26-12, Awarded (No Time) Line Up: Nick Simmons, Lee Smethills, Mark Baseby, Aaron Baseby John Resch Comments: Reserve change for Bournemouth with Resch taking Baseby's place in Yellow. Smethills away very quickly, with Simmons pulling clear from the Buccs on the back straight. M Baseby then rides round the pair of them like they were stood still, before M Baseby picked up drive on the 2nd bend, and slid off. Simmons did very well to lay his bike down and avoid him. Now sitting up, should be OK. Race awarded. Ambulance now on track. Mark Baseby now up on his feet and into ambulance, holding his wrist? Sponsored by Tom Hill officially withdrawn with sickness. Heat 07: Mason, Hopwood, Felton, Howarth, 3-3, 29-15, 70.5 Line Up: Ben Hopwood, Dean Felton, Karl Mason, Kyle Howarth Comments: Even start, but Mason into the lead. I.o.W. swapping positions, before Hopwood gets away to lay chase. 2 big efforts on 2nd and 4th bends, but couldn't quite make it past. Sponsored by Merlin Heat 08: Smethills, Felton, A Baseby, 5-1, 34-16, Awarded (No Time) Line Up: Lee Smethills, Tom Hill Dean Felton, Daniel Halsey, John Resch Aaron Baseby Comments: Dean Felton in for Tom Hill, Aaron Baseby in for John Resch. Smethills with anoother good gate, Felton and Halsey havng a ding dong battle, with a small amount of contact on the 4th bend, before Felton settles into second place. Then going into 1st bend, 3rd lap, Halsey slid off, causing him team-mate to lay down as well. Halsey excluded. Sponsored by www.methanolpilot.com - dedicated to helping speedway Mark Baseby withdrawn with Shoulder? Injury. Heat 09: Re-Run: Warwick, Resch, Baseby, 3-3, 37-19, 69.4 Line Up: Danny Warwick, Brendan Johnson, Mark Baseby John Resch, Aaron Baseby Comments: Guess who gated in front, yep, Warwick, but Johnson was trapped on the inside, and tangled with Resch, who knocked into A Baseby, who went into the boards and stayed down. Johnson up quickly, Resch didn't fall. M Baseby back on track with his wrist in a compress, not his shoulder, to check on A Baseby. Johnson excluded. Rusty thinks A Baseby being helped up. Ambulance back on track! A Baseby up and into ambulance under his own steam. ** Short Interval before Re-Run ** Re-Run: Warwick away at a canter and into the lead, from the gate, almost half a lap in it! Sponsored by inthedirt clothing - inthedirt.co.uk - facebook.com/inthedirt Brendan Johnson now ruled out of the meeting too with Sickness! Heat 10: Mason, Howarth, Simmons, Smethills, 1-5, 38-24, 70.7 Line Up: Nick Simmons, Lee Smethills, Karl Mason, Kyle Howarth Comments: Even break, with Simmons stuck at back. Mason away and clear, but Howarth past Smethills into 2nd place for a shock 5-1!! Simmons past Smethills for 3rd, but too far behind to challenge the Buccs. Sponsored by Heat 11: Hopwood, Felton, HALSEY, 5-1, 43-25, 71.0 Line Up: Ben Hopwood, Dean Felton, James Brundle, DANIEL HALSEY Comments: Daniel Halsey on a Tactical Ride. Great start from Halsey into the lead for an 8-1 position, but Felton quickly past Brundle, before setting after Halsey. At the same time as Felton passed Halsey into the lead, Hopwood went round Brundle at the back, before taking Halsey down back straight, then he got Felton on the line, for a 11 point swing in the race! Great stuff from the I.o.W. Brundle retired. Sponsored by Aaron Baseby withdrawn with Hip Injury. Heat 12: Warwick, Felton, Mason, 5-1, 48-26, 71.6 Line Up: Danny Warwick, Tom Hill Dean Felton, Karl Mason, Aaron Baseby John Resch Comments: I.o.W. gate into the lead, with Felton at the front! Warwick into 3rd as Mason goes inside him, before regaining 2nd place on next lap. Resch fell at the back, but quickly remounted. Felton let Warwick through on the line. Resch retired. Sponsored by Heat 13: Re-Run: Hopwood, Simmons, Resch, 5-1, 53-27, 70.7 Line Up: Nick Simmons, Ben Hopwood, James Brundle, Mark Baseby John Resch Comments: Extra time allowed for Resch taking two races on the trot. Brundle away well, but Hopwood outside him on bend 2. Brundle then lost control on 3rd bend, causing Simmons to fall, and getting himself excluded. 3 riders in re-run. Brundle tried to cut back under Hopwood on 3rd bend, but lost control and fell. Simmons, for the 3rd time tonight, laid his bike down, and is up walking gingerly back to pits. Brundle also walking back on his own. Re-Run: Islanders away and gone. From tapes. Sponsored by Art and Stitch for all your sewing and art supplies www.artandstitch.co.uk Heat 14: Howarth, Felton, Resch, 2-4, 55-31, 71.7 Line Up: Brendan Johnson, Dean Felton, Kyle Howarth, John Resch Comments: No rider in Red. Felton with another good start, on his way to finally win a race, after getting bonus points in all his first 6 rides. But tiredness sets in, and he lost control on 4th bend, lap 2, to let Howarth through for the win! Sponsored by Splod Heat 15: Warwick, Hopwood, Howarth, 5-1, 60-32, 70.9 Line-up: Ben Hopwood, Danny Warwick, Kyle Howarth, Karl Mason Comments: Buccaneers win the toss taking gates 2&4. I.o.W. away for the 5-1, Warwick just in front of Hopwood, before Mason falls off on 1st bend, lap 2. Quickly up and ok though. Howarth not giving up to be fair, Warwick getting the max though! Mason retired. Sponsored by Deadlock Clothing - www.deadlockclothinguk.com ************************* Comments: Teams confirmed. c/o BSPA: BOURNEMOUTH: ISLE OF WIGHT V BUCCANEERS (NL) - PREVIEW MONDAY AUGUST 02, 2010 Bournemouth Castle Cover Wessex Marine Buccaneers cross the Solent on Tuesday night (3rd August) for a crucial National Development league tie against the Isle of Wight Islanders (7.30pm). With the Buccaneers having won their last two away matches they will boosted by the fact that the Islanders have already lost three times at home in the league this season. But with newly crowned British U18 champion Brendan Johnson and former Bournemouth rider Danny Warwick both in opposition the Buccaneers know that they will need to be at their keenest if they are to extend that away sequence of victories. "We could do with a 4-point win" said Garry May "but it won't be easy. When the Islanders have won they have won big and made recent changes, nbut it is these sort of meetings where we need to pick up the points. The play-offs isn't beyond us still and we are determined to make it there and to do so we must be looking for as many league points as possible. " The Buccaneers would actually be in a play-off position if Mildenhall are forced to withdraw from the league, the club having recently been put up for sale and have frozen their fixtures whilst a buyer can be sought, Tuesday teams Isle of Wight - N,Simmons, L.Smethills, D.Warwick. B.Johnson, B.Hopwood, D.Felton, T.Hill Bournemouth - J.Brundle, D.Halsey, K.Mason, K.Howarth, M.Baseby, A.Baseby, J.Resch
-
Thought that was the case Em, something about doesn't fit properly around the bends. That being the case, perhaps Lynn should put it up for sale, then buy one that fits
-
And Bournemouth visit the Island this week... have to see if the Islanders can keep their run of good form at home going.
-
That's what I meant, you're getting info from the track
-
Sadly we were unable to secure a texter. If anyone hear's anything there is a thread set up, please post any updates. Edit: I believe Sandie is being an angel and posting updates from the track here.

As a general comment, you will gain respect if you can admit when you are wrong. Refusing to admit it when you're wrong, particularly if you've been proven wrong, proves nothing and gains nothing. It's unhealthy for someone to think they are correct all the time; a bit of humble pie can be very useful in bringing people back down to earth.

c/o BSPA NL Press Releases: FRIDAY JULY 30, 2010 WEYMOUTH Weyline Wildcats suffered their biggest defeat of the season 60-32 at the hands of the Isle of Wight Islanders on Tuesday evening this week at the Smallbrook Stadium leaving them rooted to the foot of the league table. Tonight they have to pick themselves up on home shale at the Wessex Stadium 7.15pm start time in the return fixture. The Islanders have moved up a place in the league table to 9th with Scunthorpe slipping to 10th position, three points clear of the Wildcats in 11th. Scunthorpe take on Buxton at home tonight and the Wildcats will be hoping that the Hitmen can do them a favour and win away from home, if so the Wildcats would need to win by 12 or more to move off the foot of the table with both clubs having raced the same amount of fixtures. The Wildcats didn’t manage a heat advantage all evening in contrast to the Islanders five 5-1’s and four 4-2’s. The Islanders are without the services of Poole youngster and former Wildcat Brendan Johnson who raced to 11+1 on Tuesday as he takes his place in the British Under 18 final at Somerset. Latest signing for the Islanders another former Wildcat Lee Smethills joins Danny Warwick also a former Cat in the middle order, the experienced Dean Felton and Tom Hill fill the reserve berths and completing the Islanders are Ben Hopwood and Nick Simmons. The Wildcats remain unchanged with skipper Tom Brown returning to form in the last two fixtures. Richard Andrews found the going tough on Tuesday after a good 7+1 showing at home against the Devils. Luke Chessell will be hoping for a few more points after scoring 6+2 in the last two fixtures. Gary Cottham will want to forget his nightmare trip to the Isle of Wight in a hurry. Likewise Byron Bekker who has suffered a couple of uncharacteristic performances during the last week will be looking for a bag full of points. Adam McKinna after making his debut last Saturday has weighed in with 14+2 from his first two meetings helping to balance the side. Finally James Cockle completes the Cats line up scoring 20+1 over the last two fixtures and is the only Wildcat to of lifted his starting average slightly. Wildcats chairman Phil Bartlett said “After being beaten by the better side on Tuesday, we started off with mechanical issues for our top three before the meeting and everyone else was struggled with the track, so the lads have to up their game for tonight’s fixture. After the home track advantage for the Islanders racing such a big track compared to Weymouth this showed where their experience was over ours, we really need to put in a solid performance at home as we did in our last fixture against Plymouth.” If you are able to display an A4 poster to help promote Weymouth Speedway there is a downloadable poster available on the homepage of the clubs website www.weymouthwildcats.co.uk MEETING LINE UP: WEYMOUTH WEYLINE WILDCATS 1. Fen Tigers Fans Meeting Sunday 1st August 2pm
rhidassa replied to Nikko's topic in National League Speedway
Unsure if I'll be able to (attending a festival in Hertfordshire Saturday then going home late/early doors Sat night/Sun morning), but if I'm able to I'll pop along.
