Buster Chapman - Is He Good For The Sport?
screm replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I thought Buster would be the right man to get speedway at least on a sure footing and start to build towards the future, I was wrong, in fact of anything its more of a shambles now than before so I don`t see Buster lasting after this years AGM. Thing is suitable people to take over and make the much needed changes aren`t exactly thick on the ground. -
Maybe this meeting along with other BSPA events should be put in riders contracts at the start of the season, although some contracts to riders these days aren`t worth the paper they are written on.
-
Peterborough would get a guest facility should Holder miss Sunday`s meeting and get a ban, which he wont. First because Peterborough will back down and let their rider do as he wishes, and second because our governing don`t have the balls to get tough with certain riders who choose to miss one of their meetings.

Berwick v Belle Vue in what was the last meeting of the season during Berwick`s one and only season in the then British League. Belle Vue refused to turn up to the meeting as they were having their end of season bash the night before. Berwick completed the meeting on their own.

Thankfully as you say it seems that the injury picked up by Jye Etheridge last night won`t stop him taking part in Sunday`s meeting, though God knows what Berwick would've done had he had to miss meetings. -

To the letter of the law, oh how I wish the BSPA would stick to the rules, the BSPA are quite correct in blocking Berwick`s move to replace a Busk Jacobsen. I would imagine this rule was brought in to stop teams changing riders virtually on a weekly bases to either try to get in the play offs or to win them out right, however thats hardly the position Berwick finds themselves in. I agree with an end date to signing new riders as straight replacements but there must be a rule for the position Berwick are in now where they have lost a rider to a genuine injury and are being blocked from signing a replacement. It could be argued that the clubs who face a Berwick team with six riders either home or away are at an advantage against the teams who faced Berwick with seven. -
I would imagine Belle Vue are now in the same position as Berwick who have been blocked in their attempt to sign a replacement for an injured rider. They now must go with R/R for the rest of the season.

Looks like Berwick`s attempt to sign an injury replacement for Nicolaj Busk Jacobsen has been blocked by the BSPA and the Bandits have been forced to go with R/R for the rest of the season. -

Only in speedway. -
You get the feeling Ipswich might just reap what they sow regarding this latest episode. Here you have two riders who know all things being equal they would be dropped, its hardly encouragement to go out and do your best. If Sedgeman, for example, has all his visa`s sorted he is bound to be an attractive signing come next year as he cant be dropped unless he gets injured and who would blame him if he played a wonky hand between now and the end of the season.

Has there been a team affected by so many injuries before, no luck whatsoever. -
As long as speedway is largely governed by averages there never will be any kind of notice period as as soon as a rider knows they were on notice they would down tools to lower their average. For all we know the rider coming into the Ipswich team may only have become available in the last few days so the Ipswich promotion would need to make a quick decision.

Glasgow V Ipswich Cl Sun 30th July 2017 At 3pm
screm replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Wouldn't you just know, I can see clubs up and down the Country running on off nights and/or double headers to try and catch up and complete their league meetings before the cut off. -
Even thinking about getting rid of George English from Newcastle speedway is completely, utterly and totally crazy. He has a track record either of team manager or promoter that many would kill for. Ok maybe this season hasn't quite gone the way that some Diamonds fans would've like but good grief take a look at the league table, there`s one or two clubs that would trade places with Newcastle in a heart beat.
-
Maybe Ipswich management were giving the rider time to turn his form around, obviously they think that hasn't happened and so have made a change. Chris Louis and co must do what they see as the best thing to do for Ipswich Speedway, must admit I was surprised they went with Sedgeman in the first place.
-
Maybe there will be more clubs than Ipswich who are on the cusp of the play offs who will be making changes either today or tomorrow.

I take it Morris will be in Poland and Jacobsen signed to late. If that is the team we will go in with no reserve. -

Must admit when the David Howe signing was announced I was underwhelmed to say the least, however with his performances on track and his professional attitude off track he has certainly proved me and one or two others wrong and now must be high on the list of riders for the 2018 Berwick team.
