Berwick V Sheffield Koc 2nd Leg 5/05/2014 @7pm

Berwick`s to lose now IMO, I feel a tad sorry for Liam Carr being pulled out of one of his rides last night. He has struggled somewhat recently but had paid six from two rides, you`d think he deserved his full allocation of rides, now I understand we have to get Jensen out as many times as possible, especially as he has hit some kind of form recently but IMO it would've done Carr`s confidence the power of good getting a fourth ride. -

Had Proctor ridden for Sheffield last Thursday then r/r would've been for him in the meeting last night, and all within the rules as he was required for his EL club, so no problem there. Quite how Sheffield were let away with r/r for Roynon last night is quite bizarre, afterall it was Sheffield who sacked him. Maybe Sheffield re-declared their 1-7 again to include Roynon on Friday, with Roynon refusing to ride, that would mean he was withholding his services and Sheffield were granted r/r. That means Roynon cops a 28-day ban and Sheffield can re-declare their team, this time to include Proctor and everyone's happy. -

Even more interesting to see if Roynon cops a 28-day ban for withholding his services. -

In this situation Mr Barrie will have to do as he`s told, especially if Berwick are either going to ride under protest or protest at the end of the meeting. -

Your jumping the gun a bit, as far as we know Berwick haven't put in any protest yet, maybe they will this evening when the ref turn up. How could Sheffield have gone with r/r for Roynon, he is fit to ride, it was Sheffields choice to get rid of him. This whole thing would never have come about had the first leg taken place last Thursday. -

The get out clause for the MC could be that Proctor would've made he debut last Thursday had it not been rained-off, as it stands what Sheffield are getting away with does look iffy. -

I`ve no problem with Bellego going for any title, best of luck to him, but as Fromafar says Berwick only get one go at KOC glory, being without Bellego affects that chance greatly. This doesn't apply in this case, I posted the same when Franchetti, Franc etc missed meetings. -

Should Sheffield keep this meeting close or indeed win, I`m sure this point will be made from the centre green. -

At least if we lose. To be fair Berwick knew Bellego was going to be contesting the Under-21 this season when they signed, so they knew he would miss some Saturday night meetings. But your right, Bellego sitting in a pit in Germany this evening doesn't do Berwick`s chances of getting to a KOC Final any good at all. -

Proctor would've made his debut last Thursday, but thanks to the Yorkshire rain that wasn't to be, he was never going to make tonight's meeting as he is required to fulfil his EL commitments with Wolves at Eastbourne. -

Weather very much set fair for tomorrows meeting, Saturday will be dry all day with some sunshine throwing in just for good measure. There is light rain forecast but that wont arrive till after dark and the meeting should be well over by then. -

Berwick aren't due back there until the end of June, you`d like to think both clubs and the BSPA would want this match settled before then. -

As has already been said there is rules governing this forum, stick to them and there should be no problems. Calling someone an idiot can have many interpretations, not always abusive, I`ve seen people be called far worse, even to the extent of having posts removed and warnings handed out. IMO we should remember its only a forum, its great for us to air our views, and argue our points but shouldn't be taken as serious as some do.

IMO we are better keeping religion out of any argument.

As Berwick prepare to take on Sheffield in the KO Cup this weekend, it has been revealed that Liam carr is to get a helping hand with his equipment. AsBandits’ director George Hepburn says Claus Vissing is planning to help the local teenager, who is making his debut PL season with his home-town club. “Claus plans to have a look at Liam’s set-up this coming week,” said Hepburn. “He is going to swap his engines over so hopefully we should see an improvement in his scoring.” Carr drew a blank from four starts against the Diamonds, but Hepburn said: “We knew this would be a learning curve for Liam, but he is not far away and we have always said we will give him time to find his feet.” The Bandits race at Sheffield on Thursday with the return at Shielfield on Saturday and Hepburn says he is confident they can win through to meet Edinburgh in the next round. “I think that if we can keep it reasonably close in the away leg we have a chance on aggregate,” he said. Berwick will be without David Bellego for the home leg of the tie as he is away racing in a World U21 qualifier and rider replacement will operate. Meanwhile, Hepburn is predicting a big year for the club’s winter signing Claus Vissing. The Dane has been in fine form since the start of the season, and an 11+1 paid maximum in his opening Premier League meeting against Newcastle on Saturday was his third ‘full house’ at Shielfield in 2014. “I don’t think there will be many riders beating Claus around Shielfield this season,” said Hepburn. “The track is prepared with all the riders in mind, but Claus in particular revels in the way it is set up.” -
NICOLAI Klindt is likely to return to the Eddie Wright Raceway this month to cover for the injured Anders Mellgren. Mellgren, who is recovering in Sweden from a fractured back, is likely to be out for a few more weeks so Scunthorpe Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey has moved to sign Klindt on a 28 day contract to cover for the injured Swede. Godfrey was due to speak to Klindt today but was confident the deal would be completed. Klindt joined the Scorpions in July last year to cover for Ashley Birks and if he arrives it will see a shuffle in riding order for Scunthorpe's home match with Edinburgh on Easter Monday. Klindt would come in on an average of 6.98 and would be likely to be at number three with Josh Auty moving to number one, Ryan Douglas coming in at number five and Thomas Jorgensen dropping down to reserve. Godfrey had originally wanted to sign Adam Roynon, who has recently been released from Sheffield, but when that was not an option he turned to Klindt. Godfrey said: "I thought Adam would have jumped at the chance for another ride but it wasn't to be but I am 99 per cent certain Nicolai will join us. "If you look at the scores from rider replacement at number one it is around seven or eight and we know Nicolai can get us those points. "There is no question he can turn our season around. He is maybe not the best passer but he can make lightning starts." Godfrey felt a signing had to made with nine meetings coming up in May, which will include six away, in what is sure to be a pivotal month. He hopes signing Klindt on a 28 day deal will give Mellgren the necessary time to recover from his injuries with news on his injury continuing to be positive. Godfrey said: "It is quite unbelievable that Anders is in this position because we thought he was going to be out for the season. "We have got a lot of meetings in May so we are trying to do something now. "We are staying positive and having Nicolai for 28 days is the perfect scenario for us as it will give Anders time to recover. "However, we don't want to rush Anders. We want to make sure he is 100 per cent ready before returning but his determination is unbelievable." If Klindt signs it will not be in time for tomorrow's match with Edinburgh so Theo Pijper has been booked as a guest to cover for Mellgren at number one while Workington's Mason Campton will fill in at reserve in place of Jorgensen who is competing in the Danish Championship. Godfrey believes the team is not far away from hitting top form with each rider, with the exception of Matt Williamson, top scoring in at least one meeting so far. He feels there will be one meeting not too far away where all his riders will hit top form at the same time but insists all the riders will have to be at the top of their game to overcome an Edinburgh side who are unbeaten home and away. "Edinburgh is going to be a massively tough meeting as they are the form team at the moment. It will be our toughest meeting of the season so far this season," Godfrey said. "They are at full strength while we are not and they will be full on confidence so for me they are the team to beat. "We are not far away from where I want to be and we are just lacking that consistency especially in the number one position. Rider replacement has been doing us a job at home but the guests have not performed away. "Five points from three matches is not a bad record so we have to keep it going but I think one team soon is going to be unlucky. "All our riders have top scored individually but they haven’t done it at the same time. When they do that one team will get a hammering."

Steen scoring has improved considerably over the last few meeting, giving Berwick a bit potency at reserve, so any extra rides we can give him can only be good news for Berwick. On Saturday night I`m sure we will see Whether and Kus taken am r/r ride with Jensen getting two. Agree, we cant be carrying riders, been there, done that, it doesn't work. However I understand that Carr has newer equipment on the way which hopefully will get him back in the points which will be good news for him and more importantly the team. -

Cant believe that this thread has reached nine pages, was Roynon really that important to the success of Sheffield, I`m sure if Ty Proctor starts life as a Tiger banging in good scores then those who doubt his signing will be on here singing his praises.
