Redcar Vs Berwick Ttt 1st Leg 27/03/14
screm replied to Bandits4eva's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As you say its consistent track prep that the home riders need, something that doesn't happen at Berwick. However I'm sure lessons have been learned and this season the Shielfield track will be better for it. This "can you do any better" argument is just childish. -

Redcar Vs Berwick Ttt 1st Leg 27/03/14

Redcar get their season underway tomorrow night in the first leg of the Tees-Tweed Trophy against Berwick and captain Aaron Summers is hopeful of a big season with the Bears. The 26-year-old Aussie is about to start his fourth campaign at the South Tees Motorsport Park and after the Bears reached the play-offs last season, the former Edinburgh and Birmingham rider is hoping for similar success this time around. Speaking at last week’s Northern Speedway launch at Newcastle, Summers said: “The team looks really good. Everyone looked sharp at practice on Saturday so we’re looking forward to the meetings. Hopefully it’ll be a good year and we can get some silverware come the end of it.” Summers begins the season on an average of 7.14 and despite that being down on the past couple of years, he is aiming for Richard Lawson’s No.1 race jacket in 2014. He said: “I’m always going to be aiming for a No. 1 spot. I just missed out last year and I’ve invested pretty hard over the winter on new gear. “I’ve also got a new sponsor with Media Prima on board. They’ve helped me out a lot and I’ve also got a couple of new lads from Middlesbrough who are helping me out with my bikes.” The Redcar skipper has doubled up in the Elite League with Coventry in the past two seasons and despite the new team rules forcing him out of their plans in 2014, Summers is hopeful of picking up something in the weeks ahead. “I’m just racing in the Premier League at the moment but I could do with riding in the Elite League as well so hopefully in a few weeks I’ll be able to pick something up. “There are also talks of a few meetings in Europe too. Redcar clashes with a couple I’ve been offered already but there’s a few in Germany I might try and do and it’ll be good to get out there.” Redcar host Berwick tomorrow night in the first leg of the Tees-Tweed Trophy at the South Tees Motorsport Park with the return leg at Shielfield Park on Saturday. -

Away wins at Edinburgh (Friday) followed by another at Workington on Saturday would certainly get the rest of the PL attention. -

One is presuming that your 2nd away win is when the Tigers return to Armadale in the League Cup. -
I think we all feel some sympathy for Proctor, but I agree with Najjer here, Somerset have to do what they think is best in getting points during the season and if this needs doing to do that then so be it. We will have all the answers come the end of the season.

It’s been a rollercoaster few days for Australian Ty Proctor, the Wolverhampton man thought he was all set to double-up with Premier League Champions Somerset, but on the eve of the Rebels press and practice day they decided to drop Proctor and bring in fellow Aussie, Nick Morris. Proctor had been brought in to replace Jason Doyle in the Somerset septet but without turning a wheel for his new club he has been thrown on the scrap heap. Now Proctor has been left frustrated about how he has been treated and feels his reputation has been brought into question. Proctor said; “On Thursday evening, the night before press and practice at Somerset, I switched my phone off as I was going to dinner with my partner. I just wanted a relaxing night, I didn’t think anyone would want to contact me. When I got home at 10 o’clock I switched my phone on and I had four voicemails from Garry May at Somerset, saying to call him as soon as possible. “I thought it had something to do with press day so I called straight back. He basically said, listen Ty we are going to have to let you go mate. At first I thought it was a big joke, I asked him if he was serious and he said he was deadly serious. I got frustrated and I hung up on him, and that was that. “My frustration is really high at the minute and I am in quite a bit of shock. I have never been sacked doing anything in my life, not whilst I’ve been working or by a club. I have always given my all for any club I have raced for, I have references, you can ask Redcar, Wolverhampton and Plymouth, I have always done everything possible for them. “It is such a kick in the teeth, I felt my preparation has been right. Ok I may have been struggling in a few open meetings but at the same time if I hadn’t have done those meetings I would be behind the eight ball. “Over the weekend my head was in a different place, I didn’t really want to be racing a speedway bike but I got away Sunday and turned my phone off and enjoyed some time to myself. I had to look at everything in a positive light and look forward, I think that helped me in last nights match at Wolves, it was a good night. “There is a long list of things I invested in to race in the Premier League, I bought a Somerset team suit, hired a new van and I also have a full time mechanic to pay, I’ve outlayed a lot of money for this to happen to me. “I first messaged Somerset back in mid January to let them know I was available, once I knew Jason Doyle wouldn’t be racing for them. I set my equipment up to be ready for racing in both leagues, I bought a few new engines and frames in that is just in the last month. “I have put a lot of things in place and that is what makes this situation extremely frustrating. In the next month I would have had at least fifteen meetings, now I have nothing for three weeks after Saturday. It’s like being a plumber think you have all this work then last minute, sorry mate you don’t have it. “I am looking into making a bit of a president with this situation, so other clubs don’t do the same thing to other riders in the future. My reputation has been slammed here, maybe other clubs will look at my results and think, oh Ty Proctor has only scored six but he has a 9.22 average in the Premier. “Some clubs in the Premier could look and think that I am not going as good as they want, maybe the situation has ruined my reputation a little bit, clubs may think, Somerset didn’t want him why would we want him. Now I am going to look at things a lot differently, I was doing Somerset a favour but I can assure you that is the last favour I do for anyone in speedway”

Aye but that would've been Max Bygraves......a 2 3 4 You need hands to hold someone you care for....

Lawson sent most Berwick fans round the bend, hence some of the posts on the Berwick threads thereafter.
-
Only a ball cock with a leak would do that.
-
Any team that signed him would be plumbing the depths.

Lawson had a practice at Armadale at last Saturdays P&P day, and reports suggest he looked quick.

Swc Kings Lynn Tickets On Sale
screm replied to theflyingkiwi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I went to Kings Lynn last year for SWC, happily that was scheduled the day after the 4TT at Peterborough, not so this year. So if I want to go to Kings Lynn and make it a two day trip I`m looking at Scunthorpe or Coventry for a Friday fixture, trouble is I`m thinking there would be a doubt about the Coventry meeting due to the missing riders there would likely to be. -

Which Pl Team Will Nick Morris Join In June?
screm replied to Hamish McRaker's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
NICK Morris will begin the season in the Premier League after being re-signed by Somerset today. The young Australian looked set to miss out on second tier racing after the Rebels let him go earlier in the winter to accommodate Brady Kurtz’ average, but the Oak Tree Arena side have now released Ty Proctor in favour of bringing a member of last season’s league winning team back into the team. Robins boss Alun Rossiter was always confident Morris would be fixed up with a Premier League spot sooner rather than later, but didn’t expect it to happen quite so quickly. -

Even someone as dumb as you appear can even believe that. Just incase you do, the evidence to suggest this is what exactly.

Peterborough V Rye House 18 March Challenge
screm replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Early season always throws up results like this, still all credit to Rye House on their win. Maybe Rye are not going to be so weak after all, and Peterborough wont dominate the PL as some seemed to think they would.
