  1. Your right, figures taken from the BASPA site show that Wethers started on a 5-66 average, his current figure is 6-73.That suggests a more than decent season,a return to the Berwick line up for next year might depend on what Edinburgh do with him.
  2. Regrettably, we must announce that team manager Sean Courtney has decided, with immediate effect, to step down from active involvement with the club. A combination of factors have led to Sean taking this difficult decision with conflicting work and family commitments ultimately meaning that he felt he is no longer able to give his team manager obligations the full focus that they require. Sean has requested that we pass on his very best wishes to all supporters, staff and sponsors of the Tigers. From the Tiger Offical site.
  3. Wouldnt disagree with you on those three, but we`ll have to wait to see how Smith gets on with his Longtrack GP Qualifier as if he qualifys there would be little point in signing him given the amount of weekend meetings he would miss.
  4. Hopefully the recent under-21 meeting did that, though with Berwick being saturday night track its a bit of a gamble taking on a rider who is very likely to be called into international meetings on a saturday or Sunday, especially if those meetings dont carry a facility. So maybe a rider who is just out of the under-21 meetings zone but young enough to have his best days infront of him should be on the radar.Hopefully our scouting system will come up with such a rider,or of course we could produce our own but thats not a quick fix. I think the point is that by having a decent asset base, not only would it give Berwick more of their own riders to choose from but it would mean they wouldnt have to pay out on loan fees and keeping money within the club cant be a bad thing. Also if our asset base was big enough we could actually see money coming into the club.
  5. IMO its the rider who is responsible for his bike and what goes on around it,that said you`d think either the Berwick management,a fellow teamate or one of the Berwick pit crew wouldve niticed.
  6. Giving the start Berwick made,to get to 36pts is something of an achievement.Rye House has never been a happy hunting ground for Berwick so another hammering there isnt a surprise,it wasnt helped of course by our No1 going out and winning the first heat only to find he`d done so without a dirt deflecter, which is unprofessional IMO and shouldve been noticed.
  7. 55pts should easily be achieveable for Rye House this afternoon for the Rockets.
  8. Not if his Polish side havent made the play-offs which start next weekend, but your right I cant see Lebedevs at Newcastle or anywhere else for that matter.
  9. The FIM were filming at Berwick in the Under-21s,that meeting was later put onto the FIM site,I think it will be the same in this case.
  10. Joe desered better than for injury to force an early retirement, even if it was only a few weeks, but he can look back on a decent career both in the leagues over here and on the international stage.
  11. After saturday next,Berwick are free every saturday till the end of October, though you`d think the BSPA would like it run before the play-off cut off date which is mid-September I think.
  12. Steady rain over the last hour so thanks to Berwick speedway on saving everyone a wasted trip tonight.
  13. Bit surprised this has been called off so soon, especially giving the Rye House are a fellow saturday night track, though I must admit Im quite glad in a way if its spares us another meeting like last week, also Berwick should have Bellego and Rye Garrity back for the re-arranged fixture.
  14. Sad to hear about the injury, that could have a massive affect on Newcastles chances in the PL Play-offs.
  15. We`ve had rain in Berwick overnight, though nowhere near as much as was forecast.Still very cloudy at the minute and you wouldnt be surprised if it started to rain soon. Berwick are certainly weakened by the loss of Bellego, but I still expect them to have to much for our visitors tonight.
  16. Rain is forecast for overnight in Berwick, some of it will be heavy.Any rain will die out during the morning leaving a dry afternoon. Giving that last weeks meeting, apparently, was nearly lost to the weather after a heavy shower or two last friday night, one has to hope the track staff have seen the forecast and prepared the track accordingly.
  17. Sad news, condolenses to all family and friends.
  18. Me neither, though as a club asset he`s bound to come under consideration for a team place next season, which is understandable. On his night he`s capable of big scores, but at the start of the season at Berwick he looked poor.Sadly for the rider, and whatever club he rides for,he seems prone to injuries.
  19. Hopefully it will be a good night for James Grieves in what will be his last ever PL away meeting for Glasgow, how fitting its at one of his former homes.
  20. I think you`ll find the post you replied to was done so in tounge in cheek.
  21. With Bellego being lost in France in love this saturday,Berwick can only use a NL guest to cover him as the European Under-21 meeting that Bellego is taking part in carries no facility.
  22. Thanks for that, couldnt agree more with you about the promotion, they have indeed done many good things for Berwick Speedway and hopefully that will continue for many years to come.Which is probably why Saturday was such a let down, though Im sure the promotion will ensure that the track is back to its best next Saturday for the visit of Rye House.A meeting incidentally where Berwick will be without the services of David Bellego who is away racing in France.
  23. Then your mates wrong, it is true to say we had one heavy shower around teatime last Friday, if that shower was enough to put Saturdays meeting in doubt then we are in trouble as Shielfield has always had an excellent reputation for drainage and being able to with stand a lot of water. It was dry overnight Friday, Saturday morning saw a few light showers, nothing more, before a heavier shower in the middle of the afternoon. But now it is safe to assume that any significant rain on a Friday will put a Saturday meeting in doubt. Also Id argue your point about Shielfield not being a racers track, over the last few weeks the track has been slick and the racing in general has been decent, and last weeks under-21 meeting wasn't exactly shabby, infact Id say it was one of the best meeting ever staged at Berwick,so to sum up IMO someone dropped a clanger last Saturday and Im sure lessons will have learned from it.
