Not sure how many times you`ve been in recent weeks but Shielfield has been very much gate and go,with the very odd decent race,shame as when its prepared to allow passing it can give us fans fantastic entertaining meetings. Newcastle scored 39pts in the Tyne/Tweed Trophy,and 43pts in the LC,so there has been improvement.IMO though out visitors this saturday will have to improve further if they are to win,they are capable of that though,as their away wins this season have proved.As has been said much will depend on choice of guest,I hope they wont go with r/r at no1,and Im sure we will find out in an hour or two who our guest is. Dont think it will be Matej Kus.

Id put Adam Roynon down as the best rider,right up to his injury the other night,cant come up with a worse rider than Sitera,IMO he shouldve been doing far better than he has.

Giving the amount of review posts on this meeting,can we take it that it wasnt excatly a classic.

Covatti at least has some racing experience in Italy,that at least is some kind of gage as to his capabilities,Albin is a gamble,and a big one IMO.I hope it comes off for Berwick,but it might be an alternative that instead of investing in Albin they consider buying Dyer from Dudley,he at least has racing experience over here.

Berwick were poor,but I think your being a bit harsh on Edinburgh.They have every chance of making a play-off place and fully deserved their win.As you say apart from Alden and to a lesser extent Dyer,the rest had poor nights and a two man team doesnt win meetings.

A KOC match at Berwick earlier in the season springs to mind.

Fair enough,compared to other PL clubs they are about average,it bound to be difficult to set a price low enough to attract people through the gate,but not low enough where the promotion are losing money hand over fist. Also from reading last nights programme it looks as though we may be looking for a new team sponsor for next season.

They are,dont think there is to much wrong in the admission prices as they were,£14-50 seems pretty fair to me,though theres no doubt people are taking advantage of the drop in prices.

It is,over the last couple of home meetings and hopefully next week against Newcastle,less certainly does mean more.

Apart from a few 2nd halves and our GP Qualifier,Albin has no experience overseas,infact he has very little experience in racing speedway full-stop.

Maybe not significantly bigger certainly a healthy crowd,the seats that are on the pits side of the tunnell are never that well populated most meetings,but last night there was quite a few fans there,infact the main grandstand was well populated throughout. Look to me that the lower priced certainly brought a few extra out,hopefully that will happen for Glasgow in their low price meeting today.

Prices for next weeks meeting with Newcastle will be held to where they were last night,hopefully the promotion will be rewarded to another decent crowd.

Agreed but this game isnt on SKY today,the 2 SKY games are Liverpool v Arsenal at 1-30pm,followed by Southampton v Man Utd at 4.

Im sure there is,but I cant see any reason for NUFC to be kicking off at 4pm. Im sure this will be a comfortable home win for the Diamonds.

Announced at Berwick last night that this meeting could be re-arranged for one of the next two or three fridays,no official announement but the two clubs were looking at that.

Grieves`s ride in Ht13 was very clever,he covered every move made by Alden,he was an excellent choice of guest,sadly the same cat be said for Kus.He did have a decent record for Shielfield,and was a big scorer on his previous visit while racing for Redcar,but last night he was very disappointing.

Theres been very little chance of Berwick making the play-offs for quite sometime now,even at the start of the season there were no guarantees.

SKY are ignoring the delights of Newcastle v Aston Villa,instead they plumping for Southampton v Man Utd,even more of a reason to get your backside trackside up at Ashfield.

I agree with you,though it is good that we should have another asset coming to the club,whether this is the right time to take a gamble on Albin though is another matter.If he should start next season on a 5pt average,and at reserve will help as he will struggle to attain anything like a 5pt average,certainly to begin with anyway.

Not sure why or if he would come in on a 5pt average,but Albin is a certain starter for next year.

Fair play to the Monarchs on their win,fewer race winners than the home side but only three zeros meant that they were always well in control and thoroughly deserved their win.They stay well on track for a play-off place,and if they can get their number one back then who knows. Edinburgh took control as early as HT1 and were never headed after that,even if Berwick hit back with their own 5-1 in Ht2.Grieves was an excellent guest,unlike Kus,and the Monarchs no1 was involved in one of the best races in weeks with Seb Alden in Ht13.He was well backed up by the rest of his teamates. To many riders had off nights for Berwick,infact they were pretty much a one man team,that man was Seb Alden,after a duff first ride he was excellent after that,to be fait Dyer was always in there battling but Bellego and Aspegren had poor night,as did Matej Kus who was a hopeless guest.Bit of a fiest tonight,while filling in my programme I never thought Id have to write 3pts next to the name of Jacobsen,but I did tonight,unfortunately that was as good as it got as he was poor for the rest of the night. One bright spot was there was a healthy crowd there tonight,but I know there are plenty who cant wait for this season to end. There isnt an edit in the world of edits that save this post.
