Brandon Update

Is it time for SCS to ask the Council about the possibilities of putting a CPO on Brandon?, this is assuming the financial backers would guarantee the funds to cover the CP0 costs, I can't see the council spending tax payers money to save Brandon so any monies that they spend will need to be recovered, failing that I really can't see any other way forward, BE will in my opinion never sell the site and just play the long game.

I think this is already happening from what Phil Morris let slip earlier in the year.

The problem with that might be if the CPO were to be legally challenged by the owners. Legal costs in dealing with that might become very substantial so  they may require those to be included in any guarantee?

CPO’s are in a large majority of cases successful given that the purchasing authority have done their homework beforehand. In the case of RBC this will be the case.
Many CPO’s once instigated never reach court as negotiation usually paves the way for an agreement to be reached.
Arriving at a fair & final purchase price of the land can be complex but is set by independent valuers following a well defined formula ensuring the current owner receives a fair price but is also reasonable to the purchaser.
Generally accepted practice is that any future costs for clearing or developing the land are not a consideration in setting the valuation and each party is responsible for their own legal costs which is a prominent reason why such cases are settled out of court following negotiations.

It's remarkably similar to the Studley Grange stunt they're attempting

It's also pretty much identical to the ruse they pulled-off with the Abbey.

Absolutely, I'd like to think that the councillors on Rugby Council will be all over this slight of hand from Brandon Estates, completely ignoring the return of Stock Car racing and using the Osborne method of skullduggery. Remember though that "free gear" is now in charge, and Rugby Council’s planning department recommended the previous scheme.

Oh yes, dear Erica Buchanan who stated "she was minded to accept the planning application" & almost immediately left her post at Rugby Council. As we all know that was voted out by RBC at the following planning meeting.

All being well the campaigners and Rugby council will use the argument that the stadium will be needed for both speedway & stox the latter who require a significant pits area far greater than speedway
Combine that with car parking requirements and there is absolutely no space for 100+ houses (50x2semi detached being the smallest option)

And that the stadium gets built, and be up and running, before any houses are built...

That way no one buying a house can try and put a stop to the stadium being built...

Tried that approach at Swindon. Let's hope Rugby Council can create robust S106 conditions, unlike the ones Swindon Council must have asked a 5-year-old to draw up!
