old bob at herne bay
Well I ventured into Tesco for groceries and yes picked up a copy of Speedway Star. First one I habought for a couple of years. Great article on one of my favourite riders Simmo ….who I watched from a raw novice. An accomplished motorcyclist on trials grass and speedway. Good interview with Jason Doyle,in ehich he made some fair and reasonable points from an Australian rider’s perspective. Most of the rest was the usual out of season gossip … good to see it on the shelves at Tesco though.
marko
Peter Oakes mentions about food this week and the Rye House fish and chips, it was not just a gimmick that Len used, they really were that good.

Agree,I’m the same getting it the next Mon or Tue since beginning of Dec.Pathetic from Royal Mail and Post Office.

I'm only getting post one day per week on either a Tuesday or Wednesday. It includes the previous week's Star
martinmauger
Same, Had 7-day date sensitive documents turn up - after 20 days, fortunately I anticipated this & had already acted on them, not the point though. I picked last Star in newsagent on Staurday, as a subscriber last issue I received was w/e 29th November. Still, prob means I'll have plenty to read over Christmas after they (hopefully) all arrive at once....

At one time the Mildenhall fish and chips had a brilliant reputation among the stock car and banger fans. I found the Rye House chippy was brilliant at speedway meetings but not as good at stock car meetings for some unknown reason. I assume Stock Car meetings were better attended, so maybe cooking in greater quantities reduced the attention to quality a little.

I would say that the crowd levels were very similar at most meetings. Both sports had some meetings with better than usual crowds but there was never that much difference.

Don't know what the Greyhounds like but it must be good seeing the speed they chase after it !!

martinmauger Posted yesterday at 11:50 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:50 AM (edited) Same ^^ , tho my Star arrived today - w/e 6th December, Josh Pickering cover (!), also bought additional copy in supermarkets / newsagents tho often not on shelves. Curiously a big no.4 was written on the white wrapping: no. of batches it will be delivered, issues I'm owed. Actually I'm owed 3. Shame but I'm also looking at cancelling my subscription.... frigbo Posted yesterday at 12:43 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:43 PM Excellent letter from Brian Buck in the latest edition. It nicely encapsulates the disgraceful behaviour of Councils and Developers across the country - and not just with speedway stadia!

Bavarian
At this time of the year it is not unusual that deliveries take longer than usual. There is a lot of mail before Christmas. It usually gets back to normal service again after the festive season. At least that's how it is over here in Germany.
