I think you mean in the 2000s. We were the World Champions, plus silver and bronze medallists from the 70's right the way through to the late 80s. That was when it was 5-man teams. We have under the speedway of nations, two golds and two silvers. Fantastic achievements, but all in name, a pair's event. When it comes to the 5 man team event, we've not yet won. As for England's record in the pairs in the past. It's a fantastic record. 70s through to the late 80s, 7 Golds, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze. 👍

Yes, I mean from the point that they took over... but unless you are prepared to travel to Europe you're only going to see our national team ride at home once or twice a year and this year not at all.

I'm struggling to understand how this benefits British Speedway, it garner's little to no media interest, they may ride around with Daily Star plastered on their arses but just doing a quick search now on their website and the last Speedway story was about Emma Jones and the one prior to that Linda Lusardi! They'll be shown twice this year on pay-TV if they're lucky and they're just bringing on the youngsters, meaning they often miss British club matches so they can gain international experience and then be poached by Polish clubs leaving us using journeymen guests or rider replacement in their absence!

I think Emma Jones showed a lot of promise on her debut.  Confident and not overwrought with her interviews.  Will never perhaps have the insight to ask probing questions but that’s not what she is there for.  She is more about capturing the emotion of the moment…

Early days to tell but will she have the respect and be acceptance of the riders ? I was no big fan of Abbie but it was clear she was accepted like a little sister to the riders and had a good rapport with them,no doubt Emma is good looking and has some real stand out assets but watching her last night her rapport with the riders seemed a little fake, like I said early days to tell and obviously she is trying to forge a rapport in a sport she knows very little about, so time will tell but in the meantime she is a welcome bit of eye candy

Abi was a very proficient operator but I found that her delivery grated on me somewhat.  Whilst Emma is all white smiles and teapot **, I think she will grow into the role.  She’s certainly a bird you wouldn’t kick out of bed n all.

With all the adverts and prompts for SWC final tickets during recent GP’s are they struggling for ticket sales?

Seems strange that they've not done a double header with this, an SWC and a SGP round 🤷‍♂️

Remind me, who took the decision to run SWC at Warsaw Stadium, WBD or Mayfield?

Hard to see Denmark not winning the Latvian semi.

Will be an interesting weekend at Riga.  Track has had a major overhaul, corners widened, camber almost doubled and a new oil shale surface, intent being to open up racing lines and improved racing.  Lets hope they've been successful, basically it will be a new track for all riders.

2nd semi on Friday 7th August not on TNT Sports so waiting to see if it’s on HBO Max, which it should be.

The old “ we didn’t know Latvia is 2 hours ahead of GB has struck again “

Every year the TV companies get in a tis-was !!

Friday’s 2nd Semi in Riga is indeed on HBO Max. The meeting starts at 5 pm UK time(7pm in Riga) and HBO are coming on air at 5.40pm !!! Instead of 4.40pm.

Hopefully they will realise before next Friday !!
