I can understand your frustration. However any form of final meeting comes with a massive cost, All riders involved would have to be paid by the promotion then you have the problem of attracting the best riders to bring in the crowd. it's a tough choice but Birmingham speedway has lost enough money all due respect to the promotion but even they have to admit it's just a bridge to far to host a farewell even.

I do wonder if this is a missed opportunity to actually make a profit for once. A Birmingham versus Wolverhampton or Coventry could be a great crowd puller Many neutral fans will also attend a final meeting too. Newcastle wolves and Peterborough all had massive crowds for their finale. Peterborough individual had a quite uninspiring line up and the place was packed. marko
They can’t possibly claim they can’t run an extra meeting because of costs when the reason given for the club ending is down to the stadium? Does that mean had the stadium been available in 2026 Birmingham would have continued or is the stadium issue just a smokescreen for the fact Tolley can’t run a bath let alone a speedway club.

From what I am led to believe despite the site earmarked for housing the stadium would be available next season as like most building projects nothing happens over night but being the single occupancy the rent would be treble what is it now, now that sounds ok if you had unlimited use of the stadium to do what ever you want whenever you want but that isn’t the case, which I believe is a cunning way for the council to say yes we want speedway and we offered you the stadium but you chose to leave as you said it’s unviable when in reality they have made it unviable deliberately

Despite his mistakes you can't fault Tolley's commitment there must have been a zillion other things he could have blown north of £250k on.

The stadium owners want to close the doors ASAP as the new dog track is about to launch

szkocjasid
I can't believe Birmingham didn't bring back Edwards as their RS. Do they even want to avoid the wooden spoon? Nothing against Hagon he's done a fair job, but he's not as good as Edwards, it should be as simple as that. Now I know people will say "maybe Edwards didn't want to come back" but Birmingham announced it as a mutual decision.

Im sure if they came up with a plan to run speedway, sidecars etc it might be viable if all parties paid towards the rent. However im sure they wouldn’t extend the deal for more than 1 season even if the viability was workable.

I think initially there was an idea to do a lot of things, using the stadium to maximum effect but they put the blocks on that because ultimately they want the speedway out and it’s not easy to get planning on anything while there is a sports team there, hence, Swindon, wolves, get the team out in advance Edited 4 hours ago by THE DEAN MACHINE

Then of I was Birmingham I wouldn't say it was a mutual decision, just say "we're disappointed Jason doesn't want to return". At least that way, they're letting the fans know they aren't trying to weaken the team.
