GeneralMelchett
Look on the bright side when there is no speedway in the UK so many on here will have so much more free time to complain about something else. Despite the loss of Bewley and Leicesters current home form I expected a lot more from BV - what's clear is all the top clubs are vulnerable to an injury at the wrong time. Some decent races however when top riders missed the gate and had to come from the back.

That’s a solid and dedicated fan base to build a club from Every club is woefully attended to what it used to be and it gets worse every season, i started at Belle Vue in 68 so have seen good and bad times(29 years with no title), the GP certainly had an influence in matches leading up to the friday and saturday, what has also caused a fall in attendences nationwide is clubs streaming along with BSN, much cheaper for people to get their speedway fix, myself i prefer live meetings and did every home and away meeting when every league meeting had something depending on it, with the regular season being just a qualifier thanks to the play offs it just doesnt have the same appeal for me, still do home meetings and some away but prefer to visit Championship tracks for some variety. Just think we had 2 leagues of 18 teams now we have 15 teams nationwide. How can the so called Premiership survive? Personally i wouldnt mind BV going Championship but many probably wouldnt support it as Aces have only ever been in the higher leagues duing their history. Lets see what next season brings.

Because watching tonight and also kings Lynn new found form I think you need to be slightly worried you’ll be finishing the league commitments early and only watching your beloved bewley and Kurtz on TV in the SGPs! I'm not a Belle Vue fan, but I think they are nailed on for the play-offs. I'll go as low as 99.99% sure of their top 4 spot. They could lose every remaining away match 60-30 & still comfortably make the play-offs.

I think the rise of grassroots football in the UK is perhaps given a clue or two about the feelings towards elite sport. Whilst PL football always seems to sell out matches it seems many 'fans' are drifting away from the elite football to be replaced by tourists. I went to see Liverpool play at Sheff Utd a few years back and was amazed that in an away end of 3000 i reckon 1/3 at least, maybe more! were football tourists and not true Liverpool fans. I went to see my 'real' local football team Hallam FC last season I saw them play 3 times in front of crowds of 700, 1500 and 1550 - the previous time I saw them play was Christmas 2006 i think it was in front of 90 people! I suspect i will never attend a league football match again - mainly due to cost (overpriced bilge mainly) and the fact for me top level football has completely lost its way. Maybe speedway needs a similar moment!? - less can be more! I have been to - not that recently - Scunthorpe always felt it was good racing - maybe the league needs to ditch GP / Polish league riders with too many committments and the Elite divison and work on a better product in the championship.

I think 3 of the top 4 are guaranteed already and given Leicesters win today I think their top 4 spot is probably now assured - King Lynn will just miss out i reckon. I have always felt there will always be some form of speedway in the UK - my old man had a programme from the 1954 world final - in it the then chairman of British speedway wrote a peice about how in the winter all the promoters needed to come together to plot the future of 'our great sport' you would have thought by now some 70 years later they might have cracked it!

No it won't, as a whole has a much stronger sponsorship base. Might lose a club or 2 like Vetlanda from the past but then someone from the 2nd division will step up. In the UK, clubs not running or potentially not running next season are Brum, Leicester, Sheffield, Oxford. What's left?

You've got 300k plus tv audiences for Extraliga matches so that's not dying for a while yet. Not to mention multinational sponsors not firms that no one has ever heard of like in the UK.
