MattB
Difficult to see this happening.Β It was hinted at the Coventry inquiry about two years ago, yet not a whisper since then. Edited July 18 by MattB

noaksey
No point in anyone moving up unless there's some form of rider control introduced. There aren't enough top riders around so you can replace Birmingham with Northampton but where are the heat leaders coming from. Oxford, Lynn and Birmingham unsurprisingly are once again the poor teams this year. Β Β

As we are set to lose Birmingham and others are wobbling, could it be time to make Northampton a reality? One big league could never work.Β Β It would have to involve a sharing out of riders, but even if Belle Vue gave up one of Bewley/Kurtz,Β Ipswich gave up Doyle./Sayfutdinov, Sheffield gave up Holder/Holder, could the likes of Workington, Plymouth, or Berwick really afford Kurtz, Sayfutdinov or Holder?Β Β Of course not! So could Northampton be the Premiership saviour? Β Β Β Peter Oakes picking up on the Northampton possibility again in the Speedway Star today. He's reporting that someone is looking into the viability of laying a shale track and joining the Premiership again. A 2,000+ grandstand added to the stadium now, and the owners apparently interested in bringing speedway onboard. Could it be a realistic option this time? Β It already is a shale track and has been for a number years as the promoters wanted to get the European drivers to attend major meetings and they very much prefer/insist racing on shale.Β From what I understand the move proved to be worthwhile.Β
Hawk127
Spedeworth have reportedly spent Β£200k in bringing the venue up to scratch and Deane Woods is keen to see speedway added to the sites fixtures in 2026. The interested party (prospective promoter) wants to remain anonymous at this stage whilst looking at the numbers involved and the size of investment needed. Guess it is a case of watch this space and keep everything crossed that it comes to fruition.
