why is Hawkins messing with riding orders (everyone know Adam rides best with Jason and Dan with Emil and Danny and Tom hardly ever team ride) and then right from heat 1 to 15, it was a sh*t show... how can Danny get his Foxhall bike set up so wrong after all these years... why did Adam only turn up for one heat... and heat 15 I can't get my head around it...

Because you're not the all conquering team you think you are, as shown in the league table standings, Sheffield should probably have finished top, so no disgrace in losing to them at home and 4th placed Belle Vue were only 6 league points adrift at the end of the season. With the way Doyley & Emil were riding last season you were clearly the team to beat, this season both riders have been performing well below those standards. I agree about the riding order though you've got to have your best 2 riders at 1 and 5 as there is the likelihood of a big points swing with a 5-1 in heat 13

To me it was a nothing meeting where riders were probably testing things, Doyle arrived late, not ideal, he is riding better now but no point in taking any risks. I expect they were told no risks.

Dan T should really be at 2 in my opinion especially at home, King should be at 3. They still should have won this meeting easily but I would expect a different result in the play offs.

Whilst I agree with what you said in principle, it’s a different feeling when you are at the stadium, paid £24, and the team just doesn’t perform when it is time to shine, same as Lynn knocking us out of the cup, we will get knocked out of play offs if the same team performance arises next week. The passion of the sports fan is what keeps the sport alive, not the casual fan who dips in and out. Speedway is different from stock cars, this is your team, it’s your club, these riders should be riding for your home town and representing it as best they can, in my personal opinion.

I fully understand the team mentality. Admittedly I don't go every meeting, but Sheffield are still my team and I have been watching them for over 40 years. I am also a season ticket holder at my local football team so I know the hurt when your team doesn't perform, and expect that anger to flow on here.

That wasn't the moaning I was talking about. It is the people who constantly complain about the way the sport is run, fixture planning, guest riders, playoffs, etc.

It isn't the 1970s/1980s. The sport has changed and it is far better to embrace what you have and try to enjoy it, than spend all your time harking back to the good old days as they are never coming back.

I was at foxhall tonight and it was the flattest meeting I've witnessed this season...why is Hawkins messing with riding orders (everyone know Adam rides best with Jason and Dan with Emil and Danny and Tom hardly ever team ride) and then right from heat 1 to 15, it was a sh*t show... how can Danny get his Foxhall bike set up so wrong after all these years... why did Adam only turn up for one heat... and heat 15 I can't get my head around it...

Totally agree with all the above. We are making far too many excuses for my liking as a witches fan. Moaning about weather changing the track, moaning about track prep (our problem not anyone else’s so just on with it) and keep using excuses of changing rider positions. This will come to bite us in the arse, ride your best riders in their best positions and build momentum, don’t keep p!sing about with it and wonder why we lose.

In my calculations they are one point behind so if there was an unusual race result like a 5-0 it could be a draw overall, unlikely but it is possible.

I'm not sure what table you are looking at, as the one on British Speedway shows Sheffield on 1127-942 and Ipswich 1123-947. In my calculations Sheffield are already 9 points in front.

Doesn’t really matter between March 15th and August 31st is 24 weeks plenty of time to fit in 12 home league meetings.

I am at a lose as to why year after year clubs struggle to make the deadline.

Maybe the deadline should be August 31st.

I find it incredible that what is mean to be a Professional Sport they cannot even fulfil the fixtures before the Play Offs. That is the shambles the sport is nowadays, and they still expect new fans to come along and be impressed. Its a joke really.

The match that hasn't been ridden was programmed for 28th August but it was rained off, so even if all other matches had been ridden this would still have missed your deadline.

People are constantly blaming the clubs but does anybody know who actually sets the fixtures ? Surely this is done centrally by the SCB or whoever based on information provided by each club ?

You are absolutely right, to a point. There is no benefit to be gained by living in the past & indeed let’s embrace what we have. However, let’s also do what we can to ensure a future for the sport, and frankly, what’s now being organised & promoted could & should be improved in significant areas to give current & future supporters something to really enjoy.

And if they havent fulfilled their fixtures there should be a monetary penalty especially with the summer we have had weather wise.

These were not fixtures that were moved. The 2 unridden matches were scheduled for 28th August (Sheffield) and 4th September (Oxford) in the original fixture list. What were they supposed to do ? Look at the weather and say "oh look it's going to be sunny next Thursday, let's bring that Ipswich match forward a month in case it rains in late August" ? Blaming the clubs for the poor weather is laughable.

If anyone is to blame it is the SCB/BSPA for issuing a fixture list with matches finishing just 4 days before the first scheduled playoff fixture, not the individual clubs. The original fixture list should have included a 1-2 week gap between last scheduled league fixture and first playoff to give a contingency period for any rescheduled matches.

Any idea why Richie was sprinting across the track at the beginning of ht15? Seemed to be looking for something on the 2nd bend

Looking at our next excuse incase we didn’t win probably! Either way… Sheffield rode the track fine. Very concerning how slow Emil and Doyle were in heat 15 as well.
