TheWellBehavedWorrall Posted yesterday at 01:08 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:08 PM I should add that Dan Thompson - who raised concerns about competing in said meeting due to the risk of injury - ended up injured because Luke Killeen was unable to control his bike taking off from the start line. The final ended with three riders eating dirt.

Unfortunately the standard has dropped so much that the two time winner of said championship is still after three seasons of racing got an average of a tad under three pts. We have produced 4 world champions and countless world finalists and GP riders from the championship. I can't see that happening any time soon!! The standard of British speedway is abysmal and the level of rider coming through is so far removed to what this country once produced. The British Under-21 final earlier this season was like watching one of Scott Nicholls’ training schools. The focus for 90% of that field was safely getting around two bends; not actually racing. It was so poor. Once upon a time, we had Lorams and Screens, then we had Steads and Allens, then we had Kennetts and Bridgers, but now we don’t. i think there are a few potential gems waiting in the wings, whether that is because of british speedway or in spite if it is hard to say. Only have to look at where one of the current GB riders decided to ply there trade while still a teenager as they thought it would help there development

To think back , we used to take the likes of Stead, Allen, Neath etc for granted. They would clean up in this eras standard of riders. It reminds me of a few years ago when a poster called Bwitcher who used to post about 300 posts a day and was never wrong about a thing, tried telling me the 90s and early 00s era of PL riders like Stoney, Wilson, Carr, Watson, Stancl, Pickering etc would be out averaged by riders like Howarth, Wells, Jorgensen etc lol. Absolute garbage, the old era of PL riders would clean up with this current standard of riders.
