Years ago you got held up at queues while little old ladies fumbled in their purses for small change, only getting their purses out after they had packed all of their goods, now you get held up by 30 year olds fumbling with their phone trying to find their  credit card, "E" ticket, loyalty card etc, just handing over a £20 note is actually quicker , especially if you have the foresight to have the money ready !

Your argument fails as in the first sentence you mention old ladies fumbling for change, but cash is quicker than scanning a ticket. All it needs is online bookings being able to be added to Apple, Google and any other wallet available, so not reliant on data or WiFi signal. Though the scanner probably needs a data or WiFi signal. Also the fast moving cash only entrance gets held up by those fannying about for money and awaiting change.

And how does that speed things up exactly?  Surely you just have 2 separate ques on the night, one for pre paid tickets and one for payment on the gate?

I don't think the WiFi signal is great at The Coliseum either for these systems to work efficiently. The people on the gate (I drive in and park at stadium so pay in car) struggled early season to scan multiple tickets I had purchased on my phone so I always try to have the right amount of cash ready for those travelling in my car that day. It does tend to be much quicker this way and less stressful for the gate staff which is appreciated by them too.

Think you answered your own question there, all reliant on technology and a fully charged phone, in my world a £20 note trumps all of that, especially when internet signal is poor. My wallet is a battered old leather one and always easy to find, don't need to go scrolling through my pockets to find it . If I go into any establishment or car park and it is digital or card payment only, I vote with my feet.

None of these systems were brought in to aid the public, they were foisted onto us by the banks and technology platforms ( Apple, Google, Paypal, Klarna) to skim profits off every transaction

Maybe it's just a cash flow problem........ie they need more cash to hand out on the night?

Classic clive tyers so plymouth no longer do online tickets  still do card payments and cash on entry, only you suggesting cash flow problems Mr snidey can't help yourself can you

Let’s be honest the queues at turnstiles at a league speedway match are hardly an issue whatever way of payment.🤔

probably got fed up with the online service provider taking a cut out of the price ? bad enough with cards, but some of these "booking agents"  really take the pi$$h, if you give someone a tenner, you are a tenner down and they are a tenner up, if you pay them by Paypal or similar either it costs you more than a tenner, or the recipient gets less than a tenner !

Apparently some of the " booking agents " take up to 10% of the cost, no wonder some places think twice about using them
