Of course if will be weaker. The par will always be 42.. An average team that started the season with a GSA of 40 will over the course of the season rise to 42 as 2024 scores are replaced by 2025 scores.

Thats the same every season though.?

I have to disagree.Ā  In April, each club will be (or should be, if they recruited sensibly) at exactly the same strength as it was at Easter this year.Ā

Not stronger, not weaker. The same.

Gotta agree with arnieg here. On average teams that started on 40, should end on 42.

If clubs start next season on 42, that should be the same strength as last year's sides starting on 40.

So a 40 point limit is weakening the league.

If the limit was raised to 41, the league would still be weaker (statistically).

Don’t think that is a point though as the 40pt limit is applicable every season just now.Your have to build a Team to the same strength as last season.?

It's the same number ie 40 but not the same strength.

Agree as the league strength is diluted, riders scores / average goes up, so the following season riders appear to be stronger/higher average, but the teams are actually weaker, if you get my drift

Agree not the same strength, but same rules apply as last season. Its only on average that Teams limit increases.

This is good stuff -- the kind of forum discussion that allows opinions to be aired!

My opinion is that, as the teams are all starting 2026 at the same strength as 2025 then is is incorrect to suggest they are weaker, they are at the same level as last season.

Cancelling out a second 8-pointer means more pointage to build a stronger middle order, or employ better reserves.

Overall, the league starts out as per the past season, built to 40.00.Ā  Ā  Not weaker!

The way I see it is at the start of the season each meeting is only going to have 2 riders over 8 riding,I get that the limit is still 40 points so as every season it's up to team managers to get who they think will up their averages the most.

Surely it should be the end of season figures we should be looking at?

Seven out of the nine CL teams ended with a total average above the 40 limit, so starting next season on 40 means it is weaker?

Is that the same drift as riders sliding into the bends

With Zisckie signing will Workington be looking to start him at reserve?Ā
Ā

I would imagine Hook will be back and he will start in the main body of the team.Ā
Ā

I suppose it will depend on 2nd and 3rd heat leader.

Looking like Riss not possibly back at Redcar could he be an option if fit?

Riss has already said he is giving GB a miss.

In much the same way that £1 in 2024 is the same as £1 now. Except it's not in reality, is it?

Let me type this slowly.Ā

Imagine you have a team with combined GSA of 39.99.

They have an average season with no riders improving and none getting worse.

At the end of the season their combined GSA (all other things being equal) will be 42.00.

Now imagine you want to sign the same 7 riders for next year ...

You can't you will have to replace one rider with another who's average is 2 points lower to get back below 40.

So the final outcome is that you've replaced a (say) 7 point rider with a 5 point one - how is that not weakening the team.
