Actually didn't notice what you put.

Absolutely ridiculous. Should be ashamed of yourself really. Knew you was jealous of the aces but to be that bitter to wish that. Wow.

The point was about the famous injury curse which Ouch always refers to. Every team get injuries.

I am sorry if it sounded like I  wanted a rider injured, that is definitely not the case. I don't any rider injured.

Well this post caused some chatter with fans and ex riders in the Craven Suite after the BF.

I don’t see this individuals vile outbursts but having it brought to my attention I have to say it’s particularly bad and worse than those post that prompted me to ignore them in the first place.

Two points we’d like to clarify, is there any particular member of The Aces 1-7 that you would find an injury more humours and would the severity of the injury increase your laughter?

As one old time ex rider put it, “is this the kind of crap you get on social media?”

I do not want any rider injured.

It is a great shame Dan has been out so long, I love watching him ride and hope he is back for the forthcoming world cup.

The point I was trying to make was about the injury curse you often refer to.

I don't think your post came across as snything more that taking the pee out of the usual "Belle Vue Play Off Curse" comment that seems to get mentioned time and again..

I took it that way anyway...

Do you mean this injury curse?

2018 Craig (2)

2021 Brady (1)

2022 Max (5)

2023 Charles (9)

2024 Ben (0)

(Number of days before the playoffs that the injury occurred)

Before last season, it had happened in 5 of the previous 6 seasons. All teams suffer injury throughout the seasons but no team has had a consistent streak of injuries on the eve of the playoffs, though I’m happy to be proved wrong by a similar list from other teams. If our situation is the norm then I apologies for my misinterpretation.

2021 when Brady was injured so was Ulrich Ostergaard of Peterborough so that levelled the final up.

My lads Sunday league team had a similar "curse" last season..

They ended up just second in the league because of it...

But did, thankfully, win two cups...

The "curse" has now been officially recognised as being

"The Curse of Deansgate"

A popular street, which is full of bars in Manchester...

Some Sundays we were down to a bare eleven as "The Curse" struck...

It struck usually around 9am when all the lads who had been out till 5am in the morning cried off on the WhatsApp group..

On the WhatsApp group it got very personal with the lads who went out each week, but still turned up, even questioning the sexuality of those who didn't make it...

I showed the comments to an ex player of the team, and he said he was glad he had no idea what WhatsApp was, but added, he would have gone out and just arrived at the game from the boozer in his day...

The fans of the club were devastated by last season runners up spot with literally dozens of people effected, particularly as the prize giving at the Town Hall includes a buffet ..

Let's hope "The Curse" doesn't hit this season..

Ouch is right though. Our injury curse was rotten for years come play offs. That cut be denied.

But its part and parcel of the sport. We got lucky recently with sheffield Injuries. That the rough with the smooth so to speak

Most teams get injuries and although Belle Vue have had some bad luck it isn't a curse, you won a couple of those play offs with guests or very late replacements so it didn't hurt Belle Vue as a team.

It is a great shame Dan is not riding, I love watching him ride and he is great to watch.

With all due respect to Ulrich I'm not sure those two absences can be compared and in essence his absence ultimately made P'boro stronger IMO.

And the way the sport is set up in the UK, with the RR and Guest system, it reduces the impact of injuries significantly, even to the point of actually improving the team!!..

Injuries, and good and bad luck, are part and parcel of all sports...

S*it happens...

There's hardly any major prize at stake, with each season pretty much rinse and repeat from that perspective, so I am sure fans of clubs suffering some "bad luck" will find a way to get over it without too much trauma..😉

And they lost Hans in the first leg with ahead injury so was not allowed to take part in the return leg. Sadly Peterborough is another great track that has been lost.

Yes no other teams get injuries

Ipswich lost Doyle and free scoring reserve in Dan T in 2023

We also lost Doyle Emil and Rew in 2024

One rider is easy to replace … 2 or 3 much more difficult

Actually Ulrich had his best season that year and was about to go to number 1, also Tofty was riding with a broken finger for the final. The replacement for Ulrich was Cookie and I believe he only scored approx 5.

Yep fair point but I'm not sure he would have maintained that form having gained most of his points from reserve, his absence enabled Harris, Nicholls  Hans and Bjarne to all have an extra ride which doesnt always work but did pretty much perfectly that year. Agree about Hans and MPT, P'boro were certainly up against it in that final (think Kerr guested in the away leg and got 0?) but got the job done.

Personally I think Jordan Palin made a big difference he was terrific. Such a shame he gave up.

Yes, Lewis did guest but they would not let him for the second leg. The old heads were the difference on the second leg.

Doubt Lewis would have wanted to in such an important meeting, he had a terrible crash a few years earlier at Peterborough.

Lewis wanted to ride in the second leg but because he had guested previously the rules stated he couldn't. On his guest for the second leg against Wolves he scored Lewis Kerr (G) - 2, 3, 3, 1' = 9+1

Remember that day when he had his accident, the whole stadium just went so quiet.

Every team can have an isolated play off injury like Kenneth Bjerre or an early/mid season injury like the two suffered by Dan Bewley. It’s the regularity and timing of these “curse” injuries that I’m referring to.

I am not surprised, I believe the meeting was called off after the crash. Lewis is a bit different now, he had hair in those days!  Still a good rider and is having a decent season.
